Since when have we been "very average"? I'd kill to be very average. Right now we're merely "poor"--having recently been upgraded from "absolutely horrific." I'd like to claim back the word "average." It used to be that it meant "middle-of-the-road," but for some reason it now means anything from "below normal" to "truly terrible."

What good would that do? You'd just be ignoring yourself. Everyone else could still read what you have to say.

The year they were going to be drafted, Tom Scully and Jack Trengove were wheeled out on the Footy Show besides Jonathan Brown and Barry Hall. Sam Newman compared the bodies of Scully and Trengove with those of Hall and Brown and just said: "You think you're gonna be able to match it with these guys?" Evidently he was right to ask that.

Liam Jurrah could have been an amazing rolemodel for his community, but instead he has brought out the worst of indigenous culture and made a lot of people forget about the best of what Aboriginal Australians have to offer.

Players don't exist in a vacuum. You can't meaningfully talk about one player without comparing them to others. Jimmy Toumpas deserved to be dropped, and so does Jack Watts--and for many of the same reasons also.

Yeah. I was being a little comical there. "What is he talking about" is definitely more accurate, and you're right--it does show how far back we are. At least Roos has the runs on the board to get us past all that. I'm sure crap like this is one of the reasons Mark Neeld was such a "bad" coach; our players just didn't respect him enough to trust that he knew what he was talking about.
