  1. We will find you that player, but we are not going to reach for a player who we are not certain can fulfil that role. Midfields win flags, Jesse.
  2. Where do the non-strange ones come from? Honestly, there will be a handful of players in this very draft we are looking at on Tuesday that will taken in the teens that are better than those taken in the top 10. Because that is the problem with drafting teenagers - the judgements you think are strange can be anything but and the 'locks' we pick can be anything but.
  3. I don't give a [censored] about what their teenage bodies can do.
  4. I am getting emotionally invested again!!! But that Mathieson is very Bartel-like IMO...
  5. DC coined He Who F.... Us Around sometime after I gave him the Voldemort - He Who Must Not Be Named - treatment. Halcyon days of Demonland those days.
  6. Yes, I said a few days ago his floor looks like Shane Edwards. Let's hope he can get off the floor a little though...
  7. Keep in mind that most of us are only going off highlight packages... But players like Francis look excellent as they dispose of the footy well and cut off kicks in defence and take strong marks around the ground - they really could be Goddard or they could be Daniel Bell. The player that I am excited about at this time of the year is the bull who will not let anyone else get the footy (Viney) and you just know... Or the player who is a dominant tall player that doesn't stop moving and leads in all directions and loves to use his body (Hogan) and you just know... Or the player that seems to follow the play in the centre square like he has ESP with the sherrin and when he gets the ball explodes out of the traffic as if he has a GPS inbuilt (Judd) and you just know... Obviously the last type of player is the one we are without although Petracca looks like that type of power player. Parish would be the closest to that in this class that I have seen in my limited viewings - who are the players that have those traits?
  8. This 'snoop dog' and I have different interpretations of the word 'need'...
  9. Paywall, but is there a bunch of Academy selections in there? That might explain it; Mills, Hipwood, Hopper and Kennedy might push our pick to 11.
  10. Would we be 'equal' then? We did have ND6 and still have ND7 but effectively swapped next years pick for this year's ND3. So unless we end up giving GC the first or second pick - you could argue we have simply brought forward next years pick.
  11. It was Goodwin seen in the rooms and we had the GC deal for Howe ready to go for ND3, we weren't expecting ND6 to get the player we wanted. Whoever we pick - we picked him a long way out.
  12. Viney, Tyson and Brayshaw are your locks. Salem and Petracca is unproven in the midfield at AFL level - they should prove themselves nest season hopefully. Vanders and ANB are in the process of proving themselves. I am more than comfortable adding two more prospects to this list. We simply have to come out of this malaise with a strong midfield.
  13. Well, he certainly has what looks to be 'a mans body' - which makes the transition to AFL somewhat easier. I know that a number of people would be disappointed that we didn't get a tall to help Hogan long term but if the recruiting staff think this bloke will be the best player available - I would be very comfortable having two more talented mids brought into the team (assuming the rumours of our interest in Parish are true).
  14. So he won the 'Brownlow' in TAC Cup after missing the Pre-Season with OP. There is a lot to pull from that sentence... Yes, he struggles with OP. Yes, he played a great season on little build up before it.
  15. Well, that is indicative - where'd you hear that?
  16. I read it once. That's enough.
  17. So he needs a haircut? Honestly, that is what your problem boils down to.
  18. I am a jaded MFC supporter - I don't expect much at all... I applaud the decision - Category B rookies have been an underutilised resource at this club - but it is tough enough to make it coming from elite footy programs, he is coming from another sport.
  19. He is obviously a talent but if we don't think he can build that frame, then we can't pick him. One thing going for him is footy players are going to be required with this new rotations cap of 90 will make it easier for footy players to beat athletes as mids will stay on the ground in forward roles for a rest.
  20. He did not play a game - for a top ten pick that is the epitome of a terrible result. I am not here to judge Molan, Cook, Jimmy, Cale or any other player - I am here to judge how we went at drafting 18 year olds and Luke Molan is on the list of the players that we drafted when we consistently drafted poorly. I don't care about injuries, they are irrelevant to the fact that we got nothing out of a Pick 9 14 years ago. If Schwarz is an unfulfilled talent - Molan's career is not in the same hemisphere of critique. It is up there in a long list of poor drafting decisions.
  21. As a club, we shouldn't make decisions based on what a player may or may not do in 2 years time. Let's just fake some confidence in ourselves shall we?
  22. He would have decent peripheral vision, fitness, and adherence to strict instruction to play at a high level of Bball, but that's about all you can read into it as far as how he adapts to footy. Most bball players I have come across that move into footy are all over the talent spectrum but they all really buy into the structures - makes sense to them coming from bball.
  23. Sometimes basketball clubs/academies measure blokes "with shoes on" as they would rarely play without them...
