This deal will be done quickly and the trade value will be fair for both clubs. Both teams have good reputations of 'just getting it done'. Dees will not play hard ball, ain't our style and neither will Sydney. I expect the value to be around the 30 mark as we received.

This is the thing. While I don't see it as yet, what's not to say Jed Adams doesn't have a brilliant pre season and is pushing for selection early next year? None of us saw McVee's rise coming at this stage last year. So by moving McDonald back it spreads their positions out and McDonald could be passed as our main defensive back up pretty quick anyway.
We are going to be desperate for mature depth at Casey and we need to also maximize the development of Jefferson so I don't want to be clogging our foward line like this year. Jeffo should have the full year to be the no 1 guy at CHF.

Brown started the year well with 8 goals in his first 2 games, but it appears his knees are cactus and father time may have caught up to Tommy Mc.
I still wouldn't be shocked if we do trade Tomlinson and McDonald is moved back to defence at Casey as our key defensive back up so we're at least spreading out the two key post spots taken between forward and back and not just forward.
I like this idea, would be good to provide support and knowledge to Adams and Turner

Loved watching the Moose play, tackling machine

Have become very keen on this acquisition. There are a couple elite kicking mids in the pool but only one of him. If we were to get him + McKerscher/Duursma we could release Kozzy for 80% midfield time. Spargo/Chandler just do not offer enough fire power and Watson has it in spades, as well as great decision making and disposal. Moving Kozzy to the midfield for 80% game time would fill a massive need for us too.

I do not see a huge upwards trajectory for Jimmy. Likely to be be pushed out by more talented younger players at any of the suggested clubs. Good luck to him, will have to be very smart about where he chooses to go.

Would anyone throw a pack of chips at Freo for Tabener?

We have Tomlinson either in the best 22, or able to immediately step in and perform.
We have Daniel Turner who dominates VFL but may need another preseason to step right in.
We then have Jed Adams and Kye Turner developing in the VFL.
I’ve heard very little about how these two have looked this year… anyone able to comment?Jed shows good promise, had a good 2nd half of the year. Kye has had an injury interrupted year so there's no indication of what he can do.

Hopefully he gets the respect he deserves from the FD. I bet he's frustrated with the mixed messages he's been getting, not sure what he could've done differently this year.

Absolutely, love their game style and have a massive soft spot for Hoges and Bedford.

1. Replacements for hunter and Langdon. Desperate for better disposal from the wingers.
2. A gameplan that utilizes different skill sets. A big reason Toby Bedford is excelling at GWS is due to game style. We need to adjust our game plan to utilize fast ball movement.
3. Stafford needs to be relegated to exclusively ruck coach or gone completely to manage soft cap.
4. Rivers in the guts full time to utilize his kicking.
5. Draft for elite kicking mids with pace.

Just seen this.
I haven't seen him live but certainly watching the championships he stood out for me for his outside run and ability to hit up with his kicking skills.
He reminds me of the Isaac Smith just the way that he goes on his strides along the wing. He really is a 50-60m player. His work rate really is elite though, very similar to Langdon in thr way he'll just work up and down the wing.
Averaging 20 disposals per game in the Coates leagues and there is now talk he's a genuine top 15 pick. So he'll certainly be in the range for our pick.
The way I look at it is that Hunter will be 29 next year and we need to start to look into life after him.
Windsor would be the perfect replacement imo.
We can't have enough of players like this; Langdon, Salem and Hunter should all be fighting for spots 2024+

Reposting this here to get some eye balls on the reality of repeat concussions for sports people in other fields
https://www.mmafighting.com/2021/1/12/21554602/the-cost-of-being-the-king-spencer-fisher-ufc
Everyone should read this article about Spencer Fisher, former mma fighter, describing his rise and fall dealing with concussion and CTE. Being mma it seem far removed from football, but not so far when you think of Spud Frawley and Jeff White.
“He’d just kind of black out and have, like, a slight convulsion,” she says. “It wasn’t epilepsy, but it was a convulsion. I’ve seen him do it a couple of times, where his eyes are open...” She freezes her face and flutters her eyes. “Just kind of, gone. I just sit there and shake him to get him to come back, and he always starts sweating afterward.”

David Mundy has weighed in on the Brayden Maynard incident which has divided the football world.
Speaking during his regular Monday night segment on Wide World of Sports, Mundy set the agenda off the top, setting phone lines alight.
“Laura Kane stepping in signals that the AFL is trying to adjudicate the game that they want tomorrow, not the game that we’ve had in the past, and not the game that we’re seeing at the moment.”
“If Brayden Maynard was falling and that was Scott Pendlebury underneath him, I think he would make a different decision than cover up and just protect himself and not worry about the other player.”
When asked by Adam Papalia what Maynard should have done differently, Mundy used all of his 376 games of AFL experience when building his response.
“When you’ve jumped up and you’re in the air and there’s a player underneath you, you have the ability to almost catch yourself as you’re falling on top of them. It would have been really awkward and they’d have had a tumble, but that response has a much lesser chance of resulting in serious health concerns."

Great article, for the health of the players, a fundamental shift will need to happen. Not only at this level but every level of football.

Seen some articles indicating Duursma at Port is gettable for the right price. Would be a great addition and we may be able to work something out with Grundy in play. Kind of player we sorely need.

Seriously nervous now, heart is racing. We picked a team for these conditions, they picked a team to beat Gawn. We will win.

We like replacing like for like as a mature medium forward. Definitely a melksham type. Same height as Melksham, taller than spargo, kozzy and chin.
