  1. can't get it to stream on my pc. I guess i'll have to listen to pickering and hutchison on sen. i hate listening to these fools!
  2. From year one I've watched Watts get into perfect positions to hurt the opposition, slipping out back and into space, only to be ignored as though he was as invisible to our ball carriers as he was to their defenders. He has a great awareness of space and how to use it to his advantage to avoid contact. He needs to work harder when the opposition has the ball (the same skill can be used to close down dangerous space and slow other team's transition). He needs to learn how to grab someone around their hips and NOT LET GO. I have not given up on him yet.
  3. 6. N. Jones 5. J. Frawley 4. T. McDonald 3. R. Bail 2. L. Dunn 1. D. Kent Well done to JKH on his first full game too. He may play an important part in our forward line. I get the impression he sleeps facing the goals. He always seems to know where they are
  4. it's midnight somewhere in the world. Still not too late
  5. I hope Fitzy is 100% over his concussion if we play him. Otherwise, let him rest, recover and be firing for the Giants the week after. It's stupid to risk his mental and physical well-being for a meaningless game which we will lose anyway.
  6. Anything the club tells you, the club tells everyone. Journalists, opposition clubs, supporters...everyone. There is no secrecy in football.
  7. Yet to see anything from Dawes to get excited about in the red & blue. I'm hoping he will look better with Hogan / Clarke in the team, but until either of those two are back I really couldn't care less when he is set to play.
  8. I voted for mark number 2 for three reasons: 1 He was so high the ball was out of frame in two of the three camera angles 2 He was on top of Martin who is 6 cms taller than Grundy from mark #1 3 He catches the ball with arms fully stretched IMO it's a better mark
  9. By my calculations we've traded 228 games of experience for 47, most of which is from Scully and Trengove. And yet it doesn't worry me at all. I just wish Blease was playing instead of Strauss, but he must be getting close. Maybe a QB debut.
  10. My gut's been telling me all week we're gonna win. I don't see how Gawn being in the team would help our chances though. You expect him to get 30 hit-outs, 20 touches, 10 marks and 5 goals in his debut game? He'll be lucky to get 5 touches and not give away too many free kicks.
  11. My cousin is down from NY, USA visiting for a week and the extended family will be gathering on Friday night before she returns home. She is big into theater and would love to come to see Olivia, but will be spending the night with the family. She has suggested we all eat at 5 in the afternoon so we can go, but short of that has given me her blessing to go. Still, I am torn. If I do go, however, I will most definitely be wearing my horns.
  12. I voted for The Wiz too. It was clearly (IMO) the best of the lot
  13. It seems to me that when the team has been starting to show fatigue this year you can rely on Sylvia to run that bit harder to make a contest and set an example. I think you are being hard on him because of his first 4 or 5 years of injuries & general misbehaviour. He has clearly matured these last couple of years and is a valuable on-field leader now. He works as hard as anyone. That being said, we still seem to have too many players that look around expecting someone else to put in the gut running. Our younger players who have been in the team 2-3 years seem to be made of sterner stuff, but I still wish we could get more out of our middle-aged players (22-27). Are we really that fit? During second halves we seem to stop running, spreading, leading and generally working hard too easily. I hope that as the season goes on we will see more sustained efforts from the team. We have a soft draw the first two months, and we will need to lift our game if we don't want to drop down the ladder rapidly.
  14. do yo have to nominate the sub before the game or can you draw the sub from the emergency players? the later seems more practical as you can never tell who will get injured.
  15. I loved the idea but it was way too short. Just one clip of Jones and one of Jurrah? I want more!
  16. Bolton, Bradshaw, Kennelly, Malceski, Roberts-Thompson, Moore and Spangher. That's most of their defense and a key forward who has a history of scoring bags against us. That being said, every time we go into a game against an under-manned side they seem to coast over the top of us as though our guys were expecting it to be a walk in the park. Be ruthless! Bring Hell to the MCG on Sunday! Sear their feathers and fear not their beaks, for our pitchforks and flames shall melt their team of Swans down to a whimpering, bruised lamentation.
  17. I imagine we'd be better off going with pace in rd 1. I would play our most mature team possible against the Hawks, or at least hard bodied, but against Sydney I think we've just got to run around and through them for as long as we can. The swans are without Bolton, Roberts-Thompson, Kennelly, Malceski and Bradshaw. I don't know where they have been training over the summer, so I don't know if the length of the MCG will bother them at this time of the year, but I think we need to go with pace and skill to give ourselves the best chance of beating them. And we will need a second ruckman...They'll play Mumford and Seaby who are both capable big men. Seaby will spend a lot of time up forward, alongside White perhaps? & Goodes so they will have plenty of height. Their defense is under-strength, and if we can get the ball in there then we have plenty of options which can worry them. I just hope we have the guts to win the hard ball out of the center.
  18. The selfish one would be to thrash the pies on queen's birthday, but I think I will go with seeing our injury plagued players getting through the year unscathed (Grimes, Wonaeamirri, Petterd, Jurrah, Rivers, Garland, Tapscott)
  19. I hate hearing Watts (or any player on our list) described as laconic. Makes me worry he won't reach his potential, at least at a consistent level. Was he showing intensity during the drills? Morton had a year to forgot last year and I'm also worried about him being as good as I hoped earlier in his career. I was surprised to see him on the January page of the calendar. Heaps of potential but needs to step up this year. It's a shame that Gysberts & Tapscott aren't at full training because I'm looking forward to seeing them spend time in the team this year. Red and Blue Bloke: when you say Jamar spent some time on the bike watching on, is that all he did or was he training with the group as well?
  20. That is a great dream. I've had a few dreams of being in the team. It usually starts off with me getting a kick or two but then I start running through quicksand...but it always ends well anyway. Dream on!
  21. Yay! got mine in the mail today. Three memberships in one package is a good idea to save money. Pet membership this year came with a foldable material water-bowl (water proof obviously) with the great new Emblem and a trail of paw prints along it. I love this club.
  22. Got my cap today. It seems a little shallow and the large emblem patch makes it appear to slant and bulge in odd ways, but the emblem itself looks fantastic. Still waiting on my membership pack, but it sounds like it should be in the mail. Can't wait.
  23. Aaron Davey is a father figure amongst most players younger than him which is our premiership team right there. With a couple of strong and brave lieutenants either side of him he would be a great leader of our club. Although he has at times looked uncomfortable in front of a camera, if you've seen him on The Marngrook Footy show you'll know he has what it takes and I imagine he would grow into the roll well. Over the past couple of years I have always noticed him talking with debutantes in the pre-game warm-up on the field. At times when games have already been won or lost he has still put in 100% when others have taken their foot off the pedal. He has played some shockers when tagged, but it is easy to imagine with a talented, confident and strong team around him he would receive the support he has been lacking. He is well respected and each year becomes more mature and responsible and I know that I would be proud to be a Demon if he were appointed Captain of our club. I love Green and have felt since McDonald's retirement that he would be the best replacement. Over these past 4 seasons he has been outstanding in his efforts on the field and has made an effort to address the weaknesses pointed out to him, however it sounds like he still doesn't have that much of a presence around the younger guys which is an issue. He has been our most consistent leader on field, but if he isn't respected by the whole playing group, then it would be a mistake to make him captain. Moloney too hot tempered, Grimes too inexperienced. Davey for mine.
