I've thought the same thing, looking nearly ready, though the injury report is 3-5 weeks (hamstring). He must have difficulty going top speed when running. I haven’t seen him really open up the jets.

    Is McAdam sprinting?

    Nobody is sprinting except Melk!!

  2. Slow start, Melk working really hard with trainers, looks super fit, players wandering out now. Tom Mc is in runners with left knee strapped. May and Clarry with main group. Clarry wearing hand guard,

  3. It was really obvious at times before and after the game last night how much he was favouring the hand. Didn’t shake right hand after game, avoided using the hand in warm ups. Hopefully he gets through Thursday ok.

  4. Even though we won, we had some quiet players, but, with a 5 day break, we need to see how the boys pull up and who is available before we worry about form changes. I didn’t think there was anyone tonight who was so bad that they should be dropped.

  5. I can't remember my first Melbourne game, we went to so many as a young bloke, either at the MCG or VFL Park. So many memories of wins and losses, but the first game I actually remember as a very little kid was of My crazy Essendon supporting mother taking us to the Junction Oval to see Geoff Blethyn kick his 100th goal!! I remember it clearly. Thank goodness I followed Dad to be a Dee!!

    Koltyn Tholstrup because Koltyn Tholstrup.

    #BestNameEver

Sounds like a character in a Kurt Vonnegut novel. 😁

Am I the only person wondering if Koltyn Thorstrup is related to the Alby Mangels impersonating, wanna-be adventurer/explorer/publicity seeker Hans Tholstrup?

  7. So, looking at this, Melbourne currently has 5 draft picks in play. We will get something for Brodie Grundy, and I'm not sure if we will get anything for James Jordon and James Harmes if they choose to leave. We are losing, to the best of my knowledge, Michael Hibberd, Luke Dunstan, possibly Jake Melksham, Deakyn Jones, with Ben Brown and Tom McDonald on their last legs if they play. Is it just me or does it seem that rather than throwing all our eggs in one basket with Harley Reid, that the FD will be using every one of our picks to rejuvenate our list with pace and skill, or am I reading it wrong? Grundy, Hibberd, Dunstan and Melksham would have all been on good coin, so are we going to make a play at a free agent we don't know about yet because we have some cap space?

  8. Have we categorically found our full forward, end of story? No

what we have found is someone who has all the attributes we need who we can work with to make better.

marks well, kicks well, mobile, chases and tackles well, good leading patterns, rarely out marked, brings ball to ground. He has it all, but is still a work in progress.
He is still a baby, less than 100 games, so between him and Van Rooyen, Jefferson, Fritsch, Pickett, Spargo and Chandler, our forward line looking strong.

  9. Hi Everyone, I was planning to attend the Melbourne vs North game in Hobart next week, but unfortunately my wife is sick and we won’t be going. I have 2 tickets available if anyone is interested going for just under what I paid for them. They are premium seats in the Ponting Stand. They are yours for $100 in total. Please email me on [email protected]

    cheers.

On a side note, I know footy is a tough game, but gees it really broke my heart to see Hunt so sad after the game. He was a real favourite of mine at Melbourne. Always tried his hardest and clearly didn’t want to leave.
I wish him all the best. Thought he was very good today!

You’re right, he was good, but a couple of times he had the opportunity to hurt us today and his foot skills let him down.  He did this too often with us. I wish him well, but not too sad he’s gone. McVee a much better option moving forward.
