I’m trying my hardest to figure out how we secure a late first rounder but I’m struggling! Haha. Freo sitting at pick 20 (pre f/s + academies) is annoying me because I just have a feeling they’ll take Pickett.

If we don’t trade up I wonder if we can convince Eagles to trade for a pick in the 20s. We want Nairn and Pickett but obviously no early second rounder. I never like trading a pick out of the top ten but if we are picking Nairn who’s not rated in the top 20 and can get Pickett I’m down for it. Offer pick 8 so they can get Farrow (do we throw in 37?) We get pick 13 and early second rounder. Melbourne: Cumming/Taylor/Grlj + Nairn + Pickett Eagles: Duursma + CDT + Farrow It’s obviously a risk if those players are available at that pick. That’s if Essendon decide against trading up.

Do the afl do this on purpose to set us up for even lower crowds against interstate teams? Gold Coast on Easter Sunday is a joke.

I think when you get a chance at having two top 10 picks you take mids unless they’re a Luke Jackson. In saying this, I’m all for a Grlj + Dovaston as Duursma and Robey won’t be in our reach so I’m happy to take a punt on a small like Dovaston.

I doubt we really improve just yet. I think a top 5 pick is coming our way next season.

My thoughts as well. A few people aren’t keen on Dovaston. I think in a weak draft now’s the time to draft a small forward and a midfielder. Then next year in what they say is a better draft go again and draft a midfielder with what most likely will be a top 5 pick or we try again with Humphrey.

Agreed. I think if we end up with two of Grlj, Dovaston, Lindsey, Sharp or Greeves we walk away okay.

I think it depends how we track next year… if we are bottom 4 (we most likely will be) a free agent won’t come to us as they’ll be going to a club close to a flag. Eg- Walsh, Butters. A play like Zac Bailey who would most likely be after cash, might think about it. I think next year we go again at trying to lure Bailey Humphrey as he’ll be the perfect age to add to our list. Until we start showing signs of progressing up the ladder which most likely won’t be for a few years, then we won’t attract a free agent who wants a premiership

If eagles had a pick in the 20s it would have been perfect for a player like Pickett if they didn’t want to trade 13 to us. Do you reckon pick 7&8 for 2 and 13 is a good deal? I think Essendon come sniffing for pick 1 though. They’d have pick 1, 7 and 8 We’d have pick 2 and 13 We could have Robey and Dovaston. Would love for Grlj to slide but highly doubt it

I’m excited for the fresh start. We have great leaders to lead and teach our young kids in Gawn, Viney, Mihocek, Steele, McDonald, Langdon and also Rivers and Chin. Yes, We aren’t close to a premiership but we don’t have two players holding us back from progressing and further setting us back when it comes to attitude and professionalism. Are we closer to a premiership now without Trac and Oliver? Yes. Not trading them out means we don’t get first round picks for Trac and continuing to add youth. Not trading Oliver may mean we have more culture problems and more players not wanting to be around or young players following the same path. It’s better to fall down the ladder with more youth than fall down the ladder with Trac and Oliver still in our side and then try to rebuild on the go in a couple of years. It saddens me that I’ve seen so many comments on socials of Melbourne members saying they won’t renew next year because Trac and Oliver have been traded. One didn’t want to be at our club and one didn’t want to put in the work for our club. It’s time to show up, it’s time to make some noise and it’s time to show our young fellas we back them and we’re here for the ride with them. Here’s to the new era everyone.

If we were to swap pick 7&8 for 2&13 Do we go with a Robey + Dovaston Or Robey + Grlj Try and trade back into the mid to late 20s and snatch Pickett. I feel like we keep pick 7&8 though
