NON-MFC: Round 06
For us to beat the Blues I reckon we need McAdam playing well, Oliver close to his best and Petty kicking goals. Big game coming up

I’m pretty sure the coaches have long been bullish on Turner. The problem remains his inability to get and stay fit

NON-MFC: Round 06
Pies win them it’s likely they’re back in the race. Personally I want to finish them on KB. I’m talking a good old fashioned spanking with a forward half of Fritsch JVR McAdam ANB Petty Chandler

POSTGAME: Rd 05 vs Brisbane
They come at us hard because we embarrassed them so often, particularly at the end of 22. I’m not buying any excuses about days per match. I’m simply looking at what I see. A team that was clearly tired and beat up against a side ready and up for the fight. My view might change post the Carlton game

Of course we’d take him but at what cost. Pick 3 isn’t going to happen, that’s fantasy land stuff. I’d be offering Spargo, our first and $850,000 for 4 years. Train him up and he’d be an asset. We need to add talent in the 22-26 age range to extend our window. We can ill afford to drop off a cliff like the Tiges. They carry on about injuries but the bulk of those are players well past their prime and untested newbies. They are in a world of pain.

Harrison Petty
The other unknown we potentially have up our sleeves is Turner. It appears the club is giving him forward time. Perhaps he’s what we have in mind to replace Petty should he leave or the offer is too good. If Turner could play forward it back and we can extract 2 to 20 picks from the Crows then it’s hello sailor.

The issue now is we have Salem and Bowey out so our backline doesn’t seem as sturdy. TMac back means you can’t put Petty back without benching TMac. Petty forward is a must at this stage. If we’re going to evolve our game into a more attacking one we have to kick 80 points plus each week. We can’t do that without Petty kicking some goals. I see BBB as a stop gap until this happens. BBB offers nothing defensively and when you add Fritsch, JVR and Petty to that we’re getting smashed on defensive turnovers. Personally I think we’re waiting and planning for a forward half that contains Petty, JVR, Fritsch, ANB, Pickett, Chandler and McAdam. Then if TMac goes down you can push Petty back and consider giving Fullarton a run. I’m not sure he’s AFL material but let’s wait and see before passing that judgement. All in all I think we’re really hoping McAdam can string 15 games together. Either that or Melksham comes in. We can’t afford injuries atm.

Since when was AFL just a game? It’s long been a ruthless business. No one’s slagging him off. Several on here doubt he’ll make it but no one has said anything negative about his personality.

And us at the G, really hope we win that one.

We’re offering our opinion on a player who was selected with a high pick. It’s hardly earth shattering. I doubt he’d be offended and if he is then that says a lot about his chances.

I’m not worried about Petty’s form. He’s barely had a preseason, didn’t play for large chunks of last season and will take awhile to find his feet. I also don’t think you can have a forward line of Brown, JVR, Petty and Fritsch. That’s basically pulling the band on the slingshot for the opposition. For mine once Petty finds form we send BBB to a paddock, hopefully McAdam can string 15 games together and our forward half will then become quite dynamic and unpredictable. Fritsch JVR Pickett ANB Petty McAdam interchange Chandler The way we’re headed it’s going to take a Herculean second half of the season.

Jefferson needs to get on his bike as a forward. Lead up to the wings, run his opponent off his feet. Tell Schache to stay in the goalsquare. He needs to get his hands on the ball a lot more. Playing him back isn’t the answer, confidence is. Even the way he holds himself screams doubt. That’s his issue from where I sit. I’m not sure he believes he belongs or is willing to fight for it. Until that changes nothing else will. Turner on the other hand continues to show he has what it takes. Maybe as a forward??

PREGAME: Rd 07 vs Richmond
The only chance we have to win it this year is if we have a fully fit and firing best 23-25 to pick from. Last year was a massive missed opportunity and with more competitive sides this year a good injury run is essential. Personally I think we need McAdam playing some good footy and Oliver needs to return to full fitness although I fear that may not happen until next season. If we can’t finish top 4 we’re cooked.

CASEY: Rd 03 vs Port Melbourne
I’ve watched about 15 Casey games with him in them. He has shown nothing to suggest he’s going to make it. Doesn’t take marks, doesn’t kick goals, doesn’t hit packs and is only an average kick.

I couldn't of put it better myself. Here's a kid with as much chance of making the grade as me.

Oh my, what an afternoon's work from the big fella. I'll also be shocked if Fullarton gets a gig in the seniors.
