If it Ain't broke? Just creating more problems and making the game harder for anyone new to understand, let alone the old timers

Stupid Hocking. That's what the game is all about, it's a mans sport Hocking... skills and endurance is the name of the game

"The main reason (for the 75 interchange cap) is to try and open up congestion around the ground. There are a lot of high pressure game styles which have kicked in, the pressure factors have increased, and have been on the increase for five years now, so our belief is we need to put a little bit of fatigue back into the system, and to recalibrate that part of the game and hopefully have the result of opening up the game," Hocking said.

  2. Steve Hocking wants to kill the players but not the game.

How foolish... Interchange down from 90 to 75   and here is his reasoning...  I loved the game styles being developed such as high pressure styles... That's what footy is all about. Skill and endurance....''

Yes Goodwin has had 4 mentors now. Clearly the club believes he is not capable and are hedging their position

I cannot believe that the club gave this guy 4 years

It has the possibility of sinking the club

This is another  desperate move to cover arzes. A better move would have been to sack him and appoint a proper coach. Why wait till halfway through next season?

Agree.... Look at Richardson's role next year. It appears his chain of command is above that of Goodwin's. He will not be in "the Box" on game day and he was a failure at St Kilda... Watch this space.... Yze will be Coach in waiting and I say that because he is an accredited level 4 coach and has applied for other Teams coaching position.

    Why?

I agree with above initial comments to this post totally and for awhile now I have wondered why the MFC have always given Goody a very senior assistant and wonder if it has any thing to do with their concern over his stand alone coaching ability ? Other Clubs do not appear to have the same setup as we have had in this regard.

I also feel that if Goody does not get the results the Board desire within his current contract that he will be moved on and I suspect Yze may be the next coach in waiting.  What do you think ???

Technically, someone else could draft him but why would they in these circumstances? Melbourne has looked after him for two years as he’s been recovering from two ACL’s and he hasn’t played since 2018. Why take a risk with a player who is earmarked as a rookie and will spend a reasonable part of the season just recovering? It wouldn’t be a good look for the club that took him.

Frankly this is a non issue. Nietshke has been placed on the Rookie list at MFC and any discussion outside of that fact is superfluous surely. He always was promised a place on our list in some form and I dare say that if there were rumours that he could be taken up by another Club then Melb would have acted fast and list him.

Jayden Hunt - get him signed up for 2 years

James Jordan - get him signed up for 1 year

Bedford - wait and see, probably 1 year deal

Nietscke - delist, then rookie list for 1 year deal

    OMc- trade or delist

    Hannan ?

    rookies

Mitch Brown - definitely a 1 year deal

Lockhart- definitely a 1 year deal

Chandler - I think he misses out

Bradtke - cat B Extended for 1 year

You cannot delist Neitscke as he has been promised a contract in 2021 already.. That's final.

Are you talking about back when he got injured? Covid and list sizes might’ve changed that. And there was nothing mentioned back then about it being a Kia in list spot. He’s the perfect player to put back through the rookie list.

Here is a comment from Mahoney where he states that the Club have or will offer him a new contract which I believe is for the 2021 season in light of his two ACL operations.

So (if we don't package our current draft picks for a higher pick) we could use 18, 19 and 28 pick a backup ruckman as a DFA and rookie someone else?  Is that right?

As I mentioned previously Nietschke has been promised by the MFC and it has been made public before that he will have a contract for one year in 2021.

I'm going to assume Nietschke hasn't officially been contracted and say that at this stage we've got 32 on the list signed up and 0 cat A rookies. The aim is to get to 38 and 4, plus until I know better Bradtke as a B.

10 total list spots. 6 main, 4 rookies. I'd say good bye to Mitch Brown and Oscar.

Then we've got 5 more out of contract: Bedford, Jordon, Chandler (r), Nietschke, Lockhart (r).

We can keep all 5 and have 5 draft picks. As it stands it would be 3 main list and 2 rookies. But we can move a main list player (Nietschke) down to the rookie list and go 4-1.

Nietschke has been promised an A list spot for 2021

Look I agree totally with above. I would also try T Mc at CHB ( his old role where he played excellently ) Lever one flank and Hibberd the other and move Salem to the wing with Langdon on the other wing. Problem solved.

Hunt in the fwd line takes one mark, kicks one goal = 10 AF points

Smith in Defence makes 10 spoils, holds his opponent to 0 possessions = 0 AF points

Yep - Smith out the door... Pity he was not as good as his Dad

I've played AFL Fantasy reasonably seriously for 10 years.

The way stats are converted to AF points significantly limits the score of defensive defenders compared with other on field roles.  Thus the AA FF scored 70.9 average whereas the AA FB scored 44.9 average.

The only possible comparison using AF points is of players playing the same role and then it's a blunt instrument only really any good for winning Fantasy.

Have you ever played it? Here's how AF points are calculated:

    https://fantasy.afl.com.au/classic/help/official-rules

You are entitled to your opinion but I totally disagree with your analogy... I stand by my view. Melksham is not a player that will play a role into 2021 regrettably due to his age and form this year. Hunt and Harmes being younger and proving over 2020 with good AF scores that they have a future and because they are younger than the lovable Melks.

    Dreamteam (AF) points in 2020:

Harris Andrews - All Australian 2020: AF = 44.9 per game.

    James Harmes - Outside MFC top 20 B&F = 44.7 per game.

So, I do not understand your point ?  Why are we changing the subject to include Harmes who is a good solid player and one who should be saved from the axe at the MFC... I don't get it ??

  14. 4 hours ago, Pollyanna said:

AF scores are not a sound basis for comparison particularly when they are playing different roles.

Totally disagree. You offer no reason except to say that a player plays in different positions - so what ?  A player is picked supposedly on his ability for a given position on a given day. Professionals are just that and need to perform otherwise they should be dropped and delisted.

Wasn't me who said that.  I wouldn't have Hunt or Melksham in our b22.

We are shocking by foot going inside 50, we should be going hard at Phillips. Or Polec. Hunt has been at the club for 7 years now.  He is what he is, handy depth but that's it.

Smith shouldn't have been given another contract

    Smith should be delisted.

His AF scores in 2020 were : (by round) 17,20,20,14,28,26,26, for a total of 151

Hunts AF scores in 2020 were : (By round ) 54,27,30,15,36,53, for a total of 215  for less games.

Frankly Smith is turning into another O Mc and offers very little to the Team structure of the future
