We’re just 1 of 10 sets of Victorian fans who desperately want to see their team play after a long absence. Tribal hostilities aside, as a footy fan I want as many fans as possible to see their team. I expect our club to consider the greater good of the game in making their decision. We’re not an island. There are broader considerations to think of. And i would expect a benefit or concession to be received in return.

SEN talking about bringing in a Chocco boy from Werribee called Kye Declase. invited to train today. Tall defender. 195cm. Most improved player for them last year apparently.

You have to respect the longevity of his career. 30 odd years in a cut-throat business is an immense achievement. Personally I found his commentary off putting. The shrieking and hyper ventilating were unnecessary imv but I know plenty of people who have nothing but praise for the man. Personal preferences and all that. Enjoy your retirement Bruce.

There is no point bringing in all this young talent and then not coaching them properly. Our last 2 performances have been wretched. The game plan is fundamentally flawed and basic skill execution was very poor. The coach is on borrowed time and I’ll be surprised if he can turn it around. That said i doubt there will be a change in season and I’d prefer if Chocco is left to concentrate on the men’s team. Post season we need to come up with a better solution as currently we just tack on women coaching responsibilities to an existing coaching role. I know there are difficulties finding a full time coach for what is a part time team but St Kilda have flipped the script and hired a womens team coach who then works with the men during the ALFW off season. I think we should do something similar. In terms of who is out there Bec Goddard would jump at the chance if we could figure out how to make the role work.

@Dr. Gonzo Fair enough. Maybe I am being a little too naive. Best to agree concession and / or financial compensation beforehand.

The crazy notion I had that this team was capable of winning the flag crashed head first into reality today. What a train wreck performance that was. Really clueless. I can’t think of a single positive. The senior players were poor, even paxy was off, but the game plan is a bust I’m afraid. The coach has to go back to the drawing board pronto if we’re any hope of salvaging the season. Cut out this ridiculous handballing, be more direct and bring some pressure. Talk about bruise free. Throw the pieces around as well. I think its time for Zanker to go FF no point waiting any longer. Best to leave Daisy where she is though. Her legs have gone so not sure any point sending her out the field. She read the play today ok but just butchered her kicks. Our confidence is on the floor. Luckily we have the saints next week. They were terrible today so we have a chance to get back to winning ways. We have no margin for error left and realistically now an outside chance of playing finals.

This is even worse than last week. Have to question the coaching. Ball movement risible. No pressure. Can’t hit targets. Pies doing as they please. I think I’ll head out for the rest of the evening.

Totally agree. The state of the commentary ranks at the moment has to be at an all time low. I’m not sure if it’s possible for the club to stream all games, with tv rights and whatnot, but if the option was there I’d gladly pay for it if it meant I didn’t have to suffer BT, Eddie, Bruce et al

I don’t think he played badly on Friday at all. I admit I have low expectations for him this year but he played better than I expected. He did over turn the ball at times in the first half but then so did Petracca! He might not quite be best 22 but based on this showing, with injuries and rotation, I think he is capable of playing the 6 games he needs for the milestone. Good luck to him if he does.

I agree it's very unlikely Kozzie will be ready for Rd 1 We need to consider his state of mind as well. He's a young man who has just lost his mother.Being around family definitely helps with the bereavement process. We don't know how he'll feel or react leaving his family and coming back to Melbourne. He may not be mentally ready to return never mind physically.

I’ve only looked at these highlights but Petty will put pressure on Tomlinson for the 3rd defender spot against Freo. Bowey and Laurie were clean and composed. Promising signs.

Big in's. Goldrick will steady the defence. No surprise Magee goes straight out again. She was all at sea last weekend. Big test of character. Can we respond after last week's horror show. I think we will. Dees by 16.

Lions and Freo was a very poor standard. Bulldogs 2nd qtr in particular very good. I didn't think they had it in them. Agree its a wide open comp

Flower was a champ and so is Maxy. It’s fun to debate who is the better but perhaps we should just be grateful we’ve had these 2 run around in the red and blue (and all the other champs mentioned in this thread as well). It’s not like we’ve been over endowned with too many greats over the past 50 years or so (imagine the debates that Hawthorn supporters can have by comparison ?)

2 AA’s so obviously a very good player as is. Improve his kicking and add goals to his repertoire and he’ll be an all-time great. Looked in really good shape yesterday, primed and ready to go. A brownlow chance maybe?? I don’t know what to make of comments that he is uncoachable. Hopefully Ooze and Chocco can figure out what makes him tick. A genuine chance to leave, he does seem to have an independent air about him. Hopefully this team can finally gets its act together and deliver consistent finals appearances. If not I reckon he’s only 50/50 to re-sign.

I wasn’t joking Binman I’m all for give a little to get a little. It greases the wheels. If moving the game meant we got a concession down the track such as switching an away trip from inter-state to the G (for example switch the Eagles game to the G this year, I mean the WA govt are going to be painful to deal for the AFL) I would consider it. Or we give up this game for an additional 2 extra games at the G later in the season? I wouldn’t give up a G game for no benefit but expecting all games at the G is probably a bit too ambitious ?
