TRAINING: Thursday 29th June 2023
Gawndy the Great replied to picket fence's topic in Melbourne Demons
BBB had a great start to the year - something like 10 goals in the first couple of games before coming out of the side. The main thing for mine is the f50 movement. We need to create space in there but instead end up all leading to the hot spot which makes it easier for opposition defenders to work off their man and spoil / intercept. If there are set leading patterns into different areas there is a better chance to hit a target when they are isolated. -
Where will the revenue come from?
Gawndy the Great replied to La Dee-vina Comedia's topic in Melbourne Demons
I get your point adults will always gamble and how much they gamble is clearly an important issue as well. My issue with the advertising has always been with how it normalises gambling for children. It is 100% by design and is no different to how adults groom children for exploitation. It has to stop and the AFL need to remove themselves from any and all gambling revenue streams. -

It’s such a huge problem. My 11 yo talks about the odds and multi’s. It is so disgusting how far the AFL and government has allowed this to grow in our community. Thankfully common sense has prevailed. -
Key to this game is stopping GWS clearance game. If we can nullify this, we win this comfortably (assuming we kick somewhat accurately)
-
Nope - I’d say a 3rd rounder. Barely gets a game.
-
Yeah I suppose that is also a possibility, but the engineering involved would make it quite more expensive.
-
Just wait until the year that the Pies have to play there and lose. Then it’ll be front page news with all shows talking about it.
-
The AFL should have forced them to expand the wings to within a 2-3 m of the MCG specs. Even if that meant taking a few rows out from the stands on both wings or demolish the stand alongside Moorabool street. The fact that they are allowed to maintain that advantage to 9, soon to be 11 home games is ridiculous. I think most teams will struggle at this venue - even the Pies and Port who rely on corridor space to transition. Geelong just [censored] it down and force you wide and slow.

2023 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Gawndy the Great replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
In other news, Doggies will take another Key Position Forward FS in Jordon Croft. They are a little top heavy and may look to trade one of their key talls out while they still have currency. But they’ll likely have to move Naughton to the backline to keep them all in the same team. Naughton, Darcy, JUH, English, Lobb. Some serious KP talent there. -
Didn’t they say it was muscle belly not tendon though? What you say does make sense though.
-
By the way Richo talked about it, there were still some signals in his scan. I’m not sure what that means in terms of recovery, but if he is still sore , than I agree it maybe another couple.
-
If the scans are still showing something its got to be than a minor strain.
-
We’d be mad to think that any other finals contending team wouldn’t have some form of loading program in flight. So agree that in most part it should cancel itself out. The bye factor though - is something different. And playing the Cats off the bye appears to be consistent with some really shockers over the past few weeks. How the Pies managed to escape that fate, must be part of the same deal with the AFL have with Pies on away game reserve seating.
-
So the fact that the Pies were allowed a full bye and allowed to play against another team coming off the bye (one they have already played this year mins you) is an absolute joke.
-
Picked this up off twitter. Not sure why the photo looks weird but it shows the last contest where Dawson coped a high one on the shnoz. Robbed.
-
Any word on Clarrys scans? I would expected to have heard something by now.

Dees Potential Draft Play to Secure Pick #1

It’s hard to poll votes in the role he was playing though so you have to give him some credit. -

I agree. When good he is great - but I don’t think HB is his position. He was good on the D wing in 2021 but has been ordinary since bar a few elite games. -

Not sure. HB is not suiting him so far. I feel more and more that we should have let him go. -

I’d move Bowey to HF and drop Spargo or ANB -

A fit and firing Yeo in his prime was one of the best half backs going around. Often was at the heart of most Eagles plays. If you could guarantee his fitness and initiative, you’d trade a 2nd round pick for him. -
I saw at least half a dozen blatant frees not paid to the Crows and then Daicos gets that 50 for a gift goal. And that goal to Rankine was clear as day on the replay… Id be fuming if i was a crows supporter.

I heard that Barass may be gettable. Will allow Petty to play permanently up forward alongside JVR and the 2nd ruck. Petty can then swing back to defence when May is done which hopefully is when Jefferson is potentially ready.
