Nope. Defensively not good enough yet. Big tick on offence though but a team that can nullify their stoppage dominance will beat them easily.

They are a lot like us in 2021 without being as good defensively. They will not win it this year nor any other in the foreseeable future. Right now it’s Sydney, Pies and Lions for mine.

Too late I think. He will attract big money now. We should have gone hard at him first time he came out of contract last year. Could see this guys was similar to Dogga but is a bit more of contested beast. Other diff is he can actually play forward.

I think everyone is still trying to work out why we have fallen off the face of the earth. We all see the stats and the results. We have the potential explanations, bad pre seasons, off season turmoil, new game plan etc, but I’m still not sure we really know why yet.

The club is not innocent in this however let’s not let Trac’s decision escape without scrutiny. He’s no longer a rookie where he needs to be handheld in every decision he makes, he is a leader in the club and while his intent was noble, he has contributed to inflaming the situation. He should know this and tell his family to stay quiet. Just need to look at how May dealt with the situation, case in point. Was subbed out without issue. Do you honestly think the doctors treated it any differently?

You just know this is how it will play out.

They are all fair game. I’m almost convinced this is a tactic used against us. I’ve seen many of their players employ this tactic over the years. Cox on Gawn, Maynard on Gus, Moore even tough it was an accident , just doesn’t sit well.

It was a rule change amusingly called the Max Gawn rule. Funny though he rarely does it.

If they want to make a statement without copping a fine, it’s within their right. But I don’t think anyone will care.

So if this is indeed to make a stand. Will anybody actually notice? And if they do will the media machine spin for us or against. What can we realistically do in this situation to influence? We are not a powerhouse club. Collingwood have the power of the press, supporters , radio, commercial appeal. I don’t think we have any of that.

Stengle would be a massive steal. He is close to the best small forward in the league. But we are stacked in the SF department (Chandler, Kozzy, McAdam, Spargo) to name a few. Will he solve any problems that we currently have? Maybe a little, but our focus should be squarely on securing a midfielder as a FA.

It was introduced to increase speed of game. The old rule had the player on the mark corralling the ball user away from corridor and to slow down ball movement so defences could setup. The only thing that is annoying about the stand rule is when the ball user plays on the umps are too slow to call it rendering the standing player useless. That’s why so many teams now back off the mark to allow freedom of movement.

Or maybe it’s the syndicates that is at the crux of the issue. What was Norf playing against the Pies?

That won’t happen until right after the point we have a full list rebuild to suit the current game. Then the limited interchanges will come in and the game will change back to stoppage and contest.

The obvious solution that nobody wants to talk about is a video referee. Most of us can see the howlers in real time . The video referee can look at all decisions and non decisions in real time and make a call to assist the umps. We are closer than most people think to AI based umpiring - I think we will see some sort of AI involvement in the next 10 years. We have an incredible large amount of Video footage we can use to train AI models to interpret rules and make a decision. Benefit is that these models would have the ability to process live video from multiple angles. In time the live feeds will be significantly better in quality and will be supplemented by other data like ball sensors, goal line tech and other innovations. Question is can the game wait that long and what can we do in the meantime.

SO it seems that the treating doctors in the ED with all the marvels of modern medicine also missed it with their initial assessment. I think this has to be highlighted and brought to the attention of everybody criticising the MFC. Will it be done? No. This is exactly where Pert and Kate need to get a hustle on and deal with this PR disaster. We are often silent too often and it does not work in our favour.

We won’t be able to get anyone one that list. Collingwood, Carlton will be into them long before we are. Saints will throw ridiculous money and long term contracts. Geelong will give them lifestyle and reinvention. We just don’t even have a training base.

Can’t believe we got a 2nd rounder for Grundy. We have lost our ruthlessness in every aspect.

Windsor will be good inside and outside. He maybe still young but he isn’t the best field kick - too many clangers so far this season.
