  1. That will likely put too much strain on the fixturing algorithm as its already heavily loaded up attending to revenue, profit and appeasing Collingwood.
  2. I know the AFL want more goals but games like these are just awful. I’d much prefer a slog with total points < 150. It just makes goals feel more valuable.
  3. Just heard there’s a virus going through the Cats squad. First felt symptoms against the Dees few weeks back. Cameron doesn’t have concussion but full bout of this unknown virus. Initial symptoms vary but all players reporting feeling a bit “off” within hours of being exposed to the pathogen.
  4. Getting a bit ugly
cats staring into the abyss of old age.
  5. Funny the advantage Sums gets playing in these conditions
.you almost feel sorry for Geelong
oh wait a sec
  6. Just wait until they take Jeff Whites son off us through a 1 year F/S hiatus in next years draft. on another note, love the umpires payback for Scotty’s comments
  7. if you think you'll just get it for free..
  8. its definitely good for competition, but given how greedy the AFL is, it will more than likely canabilise the broadcasting by splitting up different games by day, platform, etc. We can be thankful there is at least one broadcaster showing every single game in the AFL season.
  9. just got the MFC app notification.
  10. That isn't great - even in 2021, finishing 10th is middle rung. I do wonder how much his thyroid issue is actually impacting his performance. I think Kynan Brown has all the traits of a HB flanker that can work into that role/spot. Can he be successful? im not sure how good a kick and playmaker he is - but that is what we need.
  11. Agree on the 1st round pick - it is a long shot but if we take some of the salary then it becomes more palatable. I’d even take a 2nd tbh if it meant we’d get someone special. You have Woey, K. Brown and Sestan developing, better to start blooding them and getting something back while Salo still has some value. Brutal industry, but he takes a spot that is going to be pivotal to our new ball movement patterns.
  12. We have been too easy on him on DL consider how we brutally go after other players I reckon. He hasn’t really played a good game since the 21 GF. Missed at least half the games due to injury as well. Will be an unpopular view but will still have some trade currency if we could find someone to take his contract. If we pay some of his salary, might be able to snare a late round 1 pick.

Naughton will play backline next year. They are just allowing Darcy to mature for another year.
  14. 3-4 for Turner is a shame. Starting to be an issue for him - being fit and available, that is.
  15. Kids always lie
😂

Surprised nobody has picked up on this already. FA end of this year. Throw silly money at him to pry him out of Geelong. Double win. Will immediately improve our forward line. Gives us more options.
  17. Is anyone surprised here. Every week it is clearer and clearer what HQ and the commission want. This is just unbelievable.

Question is how many more 5-day breaks are we going to get vs the other teams. Some teams haven’t even had 1 yet.
  19. 100%. My statements are purely on the result. There is a process our club must follow. It is deeply rooted in a culture which prides itself of mutual respect and method. These are intangible. If we follow our process and apply our method, then what i said above, applies. 6+ minimum. Whether that result is achieved by limiting them to < 40 points or us kicking higher than our average of 80-90, im not too fussed (although i'd like it to both).
  20. Welcome back Trac.
  21. Yeo is not playing. he is 30 with recurring groin issues. They will not risk a 2-3 weeker for a potential season/career ending. They are not challenging for the flag but more blooding the new players. I will be shocked if he plays before the mid round bye. WC will finish bottom 4. Bottom 4 teams should be beat by flag contenders comfortably. A comfortable win (in my definition) is 6 goals minimum. Logic is logical.
  22. They are banged up and missing key players (Allan, McGovern, Waterman, Yeo, potentially Darling) pass mark is 6 goals. i would hope that as a response and confidence boosting performance we aim for 10+ goals.
  23. Didnt want to start a new thread but grabbed this from SEN's "Whately and King top 4 weekly rating" and saw Whately with this 3. Melbourne “I've got Melbourne at three because if Christian Petracca is going to play like that, they’re three with a bullet. “Except I know that he won't, but I just thought they’re at three.” Is it me or is that extremely disrespectful re comments on Trac? i was actually really surprised at that comment (in fairness i wasn't listening live so am missing a bit of context). Whately is usually really measured so again it plays to this media narrative around Melbourne of late. Daicos goes missing for 6 games this year and he has one game and suddenly he is the GOAT. Trac has had a far better year so far and has only been below his best (not by much) for the last 2-3 games and is likely second or third in the Coaches Votes. His game against a very good opponent was a class above. Almost like a 16yo playing in U12s - the absolute monstering of that performance was undeniable. Had Melbourne won, the narrative surrounding just how good Trac is would have reignited the whole Dusty 2.0.
  24. It will take a generation or two to change this perspective. We have been irrelevant for almost 4-5 decades with the odd few years where we good but not good enough. Our numbers just dropped away. But in the junior leagues the amount of kids i see wearing Melbourne kit are extraordinary. I hold hope that we will prevail in the longer term. What will secure this and potentially accelerate it, is another premiership. It is just the external perspective that you have to take on board. Its also an easyfix....
  25. Losing Harmes, JJ and Gus in one season. They are 3 premiership players. And you wonder why our midfield has fallen off the face of this earth. Yea a little dramatic
 but point to be made.
