  1. We should do everything we can to beat Collingwood - i mean everything. If we beat them, It will be a season defining moment - similar to beating Geelong in Geelong. . it will seed some doubt in their game and automatically reinvigorate our tilt at the flag. Id even accept a 1-2 into the bye with the win coming from the Pies - that is how significant that scalp will be.
  2. We do and his name is Jack Viney. But he seems to be on the sidelines these days. Ever since he was striped of captaincy, he seems to have pulled himself away from anything to do with leadership. Still puts his body on the line and never shirks a contest. But it seems as though he doesnt want to interfere? Grundy and May also have a bit scrag and id put Sparrow in that lot as well. JVR still too young. But the others are all nice boys.
  3. By my calculations, we will be square with the MRO after this incident. They asked for 2 weeks from JVR, we got one for Sparrow and will undoubtedly roll over and cop the whack for Hunter and move on. Energy needs to be placed elsewhere - JJ can cover for him on the wing and he can earn his way back into the side.
  4. Kingy is right. IMO this speaks to the desire / belief / toughness . We have all been here before, we know how this story ends. However, this time we have our belly's full. Its a tough mental game. Do the boys have the resilience and pride ? We will see. They know what it takes to win and that has to count for something.
  5. Yeah I mentioned in the midfield thread. I think is a big knock on him but hard to say whether it’s by design ( coaching ) or whether it’s him being unaccountable. Either way Its fixable and I’m also sure he is not the only one. It puts a bit of substance to everyone’s claim that the miss are not working hard enough defensively.
  6. Weid doing very well for the Bombers… has almost kicked more than TMac and BBB combined this year.
  7. You are just plain wrong. The way that Rozee went for that ball is dangerous to himself and his opponent. Im at junior footy training every week and they practice coming in sideways and staying in your feet. A few kids had some very nasty head clashes last year coming in the same way that Rozee did, so they are told off if they try and be too courageous and dive head first for the ball. If Rozee comes in more with his body, he collects Hunter below the knee and gives away a free. Hunter was just caught in no man’s land, which happens if you are 2nd guessing yourself in a 50/50 situation. Had he not pulled up, Rozee would have been KO’d. This is not a run past the ball hit, it’s Cleary a player changing their reaction to all the rule interpretations on head related incidents.
  8. Yeah it looked pretty high. Oliver was also a non factor in Q4 so he was clearly carrying it. The lack of news coming out has me more worried now on the damage and severity. They would have had the radiologist confirm the hammy pretty quick. If it was a routine low grade hammy strain we would know by now. But the lack of news suggests to me that more diagnosis / consultation is required. Hope it is not with a surgeon. Because that would suck.
  9. I’m not sure whether anyone watched FoxFootys First Crack tonight. I don’t have a trained eye to pick up certain oppo strategies when we play, but under the eye of the First Crack team there was some pretty damning evidence on our midfield stoppage and post clearance structure / work rate. This particular clip really showed the specifics on why our midfield defence was really off. Basically Clayton was a bee to a honey pot and his man would run off him post clearance and setup a scoring chain. It was brutal to see it unfold the way it did time and time again - really 2018 like. I guarantee you’d see it for others as well. Lastly, Rozees goal in the dying minutes - take a guess who his opponent was. For a team that prides itself of defence, our midfield was way way off. It was both coaching (not hard to tell Clarry to tighten up on his opponent at any of the quarter breaks) but also execution as well - getting sucked into the contest while his opponent stays on the outside… Port already had a HB or HF press up into the contest to create a turnover or at worst create another stoppage. These are small, fixable things but seeing it on Sunday night footy analysis shows are too late. Why isn’t our coaching panel able to react to this? Why can’t we exploit a Port vulnerability? The coaching panel got a lot of credits for ‘21, they used some Of that last year and the injuries etc took their toll, which is fair enough - but they are really getting towelled up by the more experienced coach’s. Theres something about Goody being on the bench and Yze in the box during the game that just doesn’t feel right ? Very difficult to see these things at ground level so there has to be a bit of reliance on Yze. If this season goes down the sink, then I’d be seriously looking to change this up.
  10. It’s a good test for sure. We will find out whether we still have what It takes. So far we haven’t really past the sniff test. anything less than 2-2 is a big fail and we’ll find it hard to make an impact come finals.
  11. They have not played like this since 2021 bar a handful of games. Not holding my breath that’ll change this week.
  12. hopefully the midfield can pull their finger out and play some solid hard running defence. Saints win how many games with 8-10 of their first 22 out.
  13. I don’t disagree with your sentiment, but the 4 point score line was flattering in the end. Port should have sewn that game up in the first half if it wasn’t for poor kicking in front. They did nail some 50+ set shots, so maybe it evens out.
  14. I’d love to give you some confidence here but …
  15. I reckon there is a good chance they can go undefeated all the way until end of Sept. nobody can seem to match it with them.
  16. I just know Oliver will be a 3 week hammy. You can just feel the spirit of Norm Smith resurrecting itself through some Middle Earth type black magic this week. Wouldn’t be surprised if Gawns playing through an ACL, Mays hammy from 21 PF never fully healed. Trac had his fractured leg replaced with titanium and is slowing him down, Lingers has no ribs left. *Im muting myself for the week.
  17. Cannot believe we lost to the Bummers.
  18. You just have to look at our past few weeks to see something up with a midfield defence. - Noah Anderson 3 votes Best game of his life. - Butter 3 votes Best game of his life - Will Ashcroft 2nd AFL game - Rising star nom nom. And we supposedly have the best midfield in the AFL. You just know that Daicos will be the first player to get 50 touches in the modern era.
  19. https://twitter.com/CharlieDons/status/1649599413982220290?s=20 So this was ok.. Christiansen must be smoking crack
  20. He wants the best for his boy - just needs to find a better way to deal with game day pressure.
  21. I’m not disagreeing with you - he’s a gun abd will win a Brownlow. But snags register in the viewers mind 10x more than i50 or clearance and that’s why he doesn’t get the accolades that he should.
  22. I hear ya, but snags are better than assists.
  23. The reason why this happens is Oliver doesn’t hurt you with scores, it’s his biggest flaw. If he got 20-30 goals a year, he would end up being a hall of famer. No body questions his inside game.
  24. We are getting absolutely murdered by the MRO this year. I still don’t know how Andy Brayshaw escaped suspension with his hit a few weeks back. Funny because had Hunter decide to fall over Rozee, potentially kneeing him in the head, he would have got a free, Rozee would have had a facial re construction and Hunter would be playing next week.
