Over the last 3 years, Frost has managed 51 games for a club that made finals once in that time and this year finished 17th.
In the same time, Tomlinson has played 73 games for a club that played finals every year and this year played in the Grand Final.
I love Frosty, but I also recognize the realities of what he has and doesn't have. This all just seems like the classic overrate your own players syndrome.
Frost was our best lockdown defender. Yeah he makes mistakes but he has pace and closing speed and has improved his decision making.
You only have to listen to David King and he describes Tomlinson’s ball use as terrible and is just a tall player who can run a lot. Brings no value to the team.

So it seems like it will be Frost out and Tomlinson in. Immediate downgrade. Great start to the trade period. ?

This is such a typical Melb move. Recruiting a player that’s not going to make any significant improvement to the team.

Shocking year made even worse by Richmond winning the flag.

Man I can’t stand ringworm... I mean Riewoldt.

The only solace about supporting an unsuccessful club is I can’t turn up to the G at 2:10 and get a cracking seat.

Massive yawnfest. Might switch it on about 1030 tonight so I can get to sleep.

I watched this game live. Rowell stood out like a sore thumb. Star!
Amazing game. You can never say never but this guy will have an amazing career. So consistent. Doesn’t play a bad game.

The filth finished the H+W season with 15 wins, and a percentage of 117. They also won a final.
MFC finished with 5 wins, and a percentage of 78.
Very true from a statistical point of view and the enjoyment their supporters received from watching more wins and better football. In the end though they still didn’t win a premiership.

In the end we achieved the same thing as Collingwood..... no flag.

I’ve now witnessed 5 decades of failure at the mfc , 70s 80s,90s ,2000s, 2010s
Me too. Pretty sad hey. I went to 2000 GF which was a disappointing day. It would be great the day we actually make a GF being favourite. Unfortunately none of my kids want to follow Melbourne.

What a shocking kick from my Miers. Why try and drill and 15mt pass to a 2 on 1. Stupid.

I was over in Perth for work about a month ago and spoke to several freo supporters. None of them are very impressed with Hogan. They don’t hold high hopes of him being a consistent performer.

Next thing I’ll be reading is Oscar McDonald is looking to hit the gym over summer so he can compete with the big forwards.

Yep.... truly horrible how fast that ended. Memories of the 88 gf...which was actually way worse. Mainly because I was there and stayed to the end. But even then we were in front half way through the first qtr. ie we at least turned up fr half of the 1st qtr. That was the official end fr me of the dream that started in 87. But as has been pointed out in other threads now we DID win 2 finals in 18. the lions bundied out in straight sets would be hard to bear.
Good point. At least we got beaten by the premiers.

Love Vanders, but unfortunately anything we get out of him from now on will be a bonus imo.
Very true. In the back of mind I’m always thinking he will break down again at any stage.

Thats pretty much what he is saying though, to be in with a chance save our money and throw it at Whitfield, make him an offer that is better that the other clubs and at least it gives us a chance, we may not be able to do that if we secure Tomilnson..
Would you rather have Tomlinson in the side next year, or go hard at Whitfield for the year after. its a very fair question, not sure why you and others are are so salty about it.
Not salty, but essentially making a story of something that won’t happen.

Easy to throw those words out by Garry but I’d be staggered if he would chose Melb over Carlton, Hawthorn etc

Not that it's every just one night but a night on the charlie for your birthday doesn't necessarily make you a trouble maker, nor does having a knockabout country mates. I'd bet money on Clarrie having come across a few undesirables in his time. Family is often a better guide.
But my concern with Murray is he's a bog ordinary kick. Might run really well and win contests but there's no point getting it if you can't use it.
Agree. He was fast but a bit of a clanger king.

Horrible story. And yes yr right. The dees we’re crap against WC but at least they were there on time and sober! Small mercies.
That WCE game was horrible. I was all settled in front of the TV and 15mins later I was doing gardening.

For those with short memories here is the 2007 draft in which master was taken, There are some interesting names and he was taken pick 3 just before Cale Morton. McEvoy at 9 and Dangerfield at 10 with Rioli at 12 wow. Shows that the gems can be later than expected. Furthermore Tarrant at 15 harry taylor 17 and Alex Rance 18. For me I think we can do better than Masten
Cale Morton.... forgot about him. Looking at the top 10 players he wasn’t the only dud.
