Petracca, May, Oliver, Langdon, Gawn. In that order.

My list changes for 2021:
Retire: Nathan Jones, Neville Jetta (both had excellent careers).
Trade: Angus Brayshaw (can only play as an inside mid and often turns the ball over by either hand or foot). Trade for another player or a second round draft pick.
Looking at the entire current list as "best 22" and then "back up/development" you could make a case for delisting most of the "back up/development" players (we don't bat very deep!). I would have Jay Lockhart, Adam Tomlinson, Marty Hore and Braydon Preuss as game day emergencies for my "best 22".
Tom McDonald in my best 22 on a wing. Am I mad!?!? He is supposed to be one of the best endurance runners at the club, so if he was fully fit I'd play him on the wing for some gut running ala Langdon, and use him as a down the line chop out option (freeing up Max Gawn to work more up and down the middle of the ground as an attacking option). If he can't get fit (he looks to have lost some mobility after his knee injury last season) then it could be better to explore trade options.Best 22 B Trent Rivers Steven May Michael Hibberd HB Jake Lever Harrison Petty Christian Salem C Ed Langdon Christian Petracca Tom McDonald HF Jayden Hunt Sam Weideman Bayley Fritsch F Kysaiah Pickett Luke Jackson Mitch Hannan R Max Gawn Clayton Oliver Jack Viney I James Harmes Aaron vandenBerg Oskar Baker Tom Sparrow Back up/Development B Jay Lockhart Oscar McDonald Josh Wagner HB Corey Wagner Adam Tomlinson Marty Hore C Harley Bennell James Jordon Kade Kolodjashnij HF Jake Melksham Mitch Brown Alex Neal-Bullen F Charlie Spargo Joel Smith Toby Bedford R Braydon Preuss Kyle Dunkley Aaron Nietschke I Austin Bradtke Kade Chandler When you look at the list, your right our depth is a concern.

Actually thought he is the best backman in the league. So to not make the 40 is hard to believe. I suppose they had to make room for Cam Guthrie.

Won’t make any difference to Carlton at all. One player won’t cover a massive amount of issues all over the ground. They are a seriously crap club.

A season of some highs and lows but at the end of the year I end up being dissatisfied again.

Has to go. Obviously hasn’t learned and on field looks miles away.

Probably a stretch to say he’s going to be a gun, but really liked Petty forward. If he recovers I would throw him forward next year.

Bit of a garage sale, a whole lot of rubbish.

Been a great servant for the club but absolutely shouldn’t go on.

Anyone thinking Saad is worth a first rounder have rocks in their heads...
Not a chance...2nd rounder is about right but I would be looking elsewhere to be honest.
Agree no way is he a first rounder.

I’m confident in giving Essendon a touch up but on current form can’t see giants beating saints.

An absolute gun this year. Hasn’t been beaten by anyone.

The goals from turnovers absolutely kill you. We have had plenty of them tonight.

How many set shots has he missed this year?
And at critical times.

No way Fritsch kicks this based on his form this year.
He’s a shocking kick for goal.

May is the only backman with any type of defensive pressure and accountability.

I’ve sort of checked out of this season knowing that if we did scrape into the finals we will likely be straight out again.

Let’s hope our small forwards actually do something this week.

The Speed myth
in Melbourne Demons
Posted
Top speed isn’t as critical as speed off the mark. Due to congestion you hardly ever see someone have a 40mt run down the wing. That’s what makes Petracca so good, he explodes away from stoppages.
