How does he fit in with Grundy/Gawny scenario? Admittedly both G's are nearer the end of their careers than the start but both would have at least 2/3 years Brodie 5 possibly. Can Barrett play forward better than either star ruck? DD any thoughts?

That's good luck and good news!!! PD

Others have described Jefferson differently so if he's the 2nd best FF in the draft and we can't get Cadman let's give him a go as we still need support for JVR and our older forwards in the near future. Read today's HS and at pick no 14 they say not best player but most needed by the Club at this pick. Also he had great marking skills and plenty of scope for development. How old is your 76 km Weight for Matthew.? Quoted now as 84kg! In HS. Too many draft experts concentrate on an 18 yo players small shortcomings or perceived faults. A robust skill base plus competitiveness is a great start to give our coaches to perform their role at the Club. I say get Jeffo in work on his ability and potential. JVR was not and is not yet a finished product but nicely on the way as a remember.

Time to get on the phone and ring membership if you are unhappy. Not ONE D/L er can assist you really no matter what you say. Good Luck from Consecutive 58 year adult MFC member who can wait for the present.

And finishing 13th in the Melb Cup 6 or 7 places above 19 or 20 does provide ONE advantage, greater prize money but generally means you are a better horse. Picks after top6/8 often are called as lower or out if elite but that doesn't mean they are not good players and that no 20 pick is better. Sliders are often players who have suffered injuries over the draft year and slide because if it but can be dodgy with a bad knee or other perceived or real disadvantage. Kossie was No 12 and is a better player than Sparrow or Jordan. In the 20's or 30's. Your reasoning is not logical nor based on any facts just fantasy in believing this sort of [censored].

2022 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch

Joel Selwood says hi ho come and see my 4 flags and trophy cabinet!!! -
The idea of physicality ( height and strength physically and of course mentally ) are great attributes in any footballers kit. Did we actually look at Fritta in the 2017 Draft and say no he's too light and plays without a good degree of physicality. I don't think so because we were more concerned about his marking and exciting ball skills and goalkicking! I maintain that a little more of that and Jefferson would paint a different picture to how we consider him for this years draft. We are still comparing him to the bigger and more developed Cadman who we can't recruit unless a miracle occurs. Either recruit Jefferson and work with him ( JVR is not the finished product at AFL level but has some varied strings to his bow) and learn from the Fritta model that with improvement and coaching plus strong motivation based on a high skill level at his craft that can be successful this day and age mixed in with other gifted players in their role.

Much rather Marinoff only have tackles rather than the footy. The two games that showed the level of toughness needed to win the AFLW Flag we're the Lions and Tigers clash and our very tough Qual Final vs Crows. Finally we have completely overcome our mental and physical shackles of the Crows which stood out in our Round 1 win also. Mick and Coaching staff have got this list to it's ideal maturity and youth game wise plus physical approach to footy that we don't take anything now from the opposition. We like our 2021 Men Champs are in charge of our destiny with our very strong mental approach snd sll it needed Friday night was reaffirmation if that plus a couple of genius coach moves and the girls desire to change the game and play it on our terms. We won't be bullied even by the Lions ability if we play to the level on the Prelim and Final.

Depth each year changes and our newer recruits are a year older and after their first real pre season JVR especially is ready for a season start in the big time. Others who should be available during the season are Taj W Bailey Laurie and maybe AMW. Disco Turner is tracking well for a defence promotion esp if Petty can go forward. Dunstan and Tomlinson are reliable back ups and Schache could be the surprise of the season. Fitting Grundy in replaces Jacko and Lachie H on the wing will still have to earn his spot but I have no doubt if his ability. Kade Chandler deserves a go in HFF and to put extreme pressure on Spargs and ANB. Down back or even forward Bowser is ready to star again in the big time. That's 11 players adding to our 22 taking out Hunty and replacing with JJ. Reality is some of our players need to be given a chance to put pressure on one that slipped in 2022 from 2021.

Hope it's right in 2023 Deem as we deserve that ability to score heavily and in bang bang bang patches!

Michael Hibberd & Jake Melksham - 1 Year Extensions
58er replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
The issue of minding Charlie Cameron is that Hibbo has runs on the board even though the Semi performance was underwhelming, along with several other players games that night. With regard to Smithy in the QUAL Final in 2021 he had no idea of how to mind Charlie especially in the first quarter. He was slow and his footy smarts were shown up that night early. Not sure now who can mind Charlie if Hibbo fails or we are unable to invent another blocker. -
Disagree It's Clarry that will struggle ( see earlier post) but remember it's all good Training and experience for Clarry. You have got to start somewhere !!

That's a long bow Demonsome, blaming one function primarily for a poor season. Its much more likely( I think ) the later pre season start, and during season some fitness issues plus lack of rotation of players ( when come came back either too early without VFL grounding) also an inability to train at full pace reducing in not running games out in the latter half if the season. Not making changes giving VFL players rewards for performance also hindered our fitness issues and lack of any players generally making the AFL team. All that should change this season hopefully in hindsight and sensibility.

Will be a sellout 9/10 Tigers allowed in!!!

Agree KITP princes Park ( Ikon) is on a tram line direct from Eliz St and Flinders St. What more Do you want ? Yes Cwood and Tigers crowd would be doubled or say 6,000 total at least at Ikon. Punt Rd or Arden St would have not been able to have any more than 3,000 as that is their limit. Vic Park about 5,000. (4700 vs Fogs sellout) Those that were there were very loud and passionate and don't complain about the standard Bris and Tigers was the same great pressure all game. Thsts why the Dees ( and Lions) are the best teams as they can handle pressure and still score. It's not an exhibition match when the top 4 meet each other!!

Yes Docs some D/Lers have got very short memories OR selective choice overruling the JT record for recruitment. Yes Weid was not tick but Jesse was largely successful. JVR is being willed as our next best forward yet JT can't be trusted to select the next best option available!! Strange bedfellows some D/Lers. Of course we are all experts and we want a finished product hot off the draft ! No Casey training and improvement or Choco kicking school. Must just about kill his opposition and kick 55m both feet . Oh and no West Australians please they miss the family dog too much. Again JT we trust in the draft and often up trading in selections for our benefit.

Easier trading up than said.

Each recruit us different.

Tmac is the glue which makes our forward line tick between the talls and smalls.
-
Best year yet I think in team value and still can be a better best version of himself. Always a team man Angus always seems to knit together a defence or centreline. Hope he can do the forward line next year!

2,555. Very passionate support came through on screen and sound right into my Brisbane living room. Very proud of the support last night and our AFLW Membership record. Lets see if we can beat the membership record in crowd numbers for the Prelim even if we play an interstate team. BTW just as proud of the team and their footy and team spirit and support of each other. They clearly play as a team and for Mick Stinear who is clearly coaching at the top of his game. Absolutely remind me of our 2021 Men's heroes this season the way they have improved since the Lions beat us earlier in the season. Go Dees.

No worries DJR I can still drool!! Rosman drools I did prior to his 2021 VFL games were over the top but still would have kept him this year as a rookie just in case. But injury was not kind also to Fraser. Howes might be another drool pre season or during this year let's hope he earns it!
-
We are playing at a different level than 2021. Every player ( like our 2021 Men's flag team all are involved ) Defence improved markedly since opening round and final mids and attack look perpetually ready to score quickly in a rush of goals. Handball game is at its best and a game changer vs any other team. Only snag can be our rushed attempt at goal scoring and usually it rights itself by games end.

Fair enough then prob no. He is a ruck rover.
