  1. Commentators kept saying that we hadn't scored a goal in 7 quarters of football yet we scored one towards the end of the 4th quarter last week.

With the 5 day break between games fast becoming the norm I wonder if back to back road trip games will become a regular thing too. Whether that be two games in Adelaide like we'll be doing or 'slingshot' road games, playing one in Adelaide then the next in Perth. I wouldn't be adverse to the idea.

Can she push really hard for Collingwood to play down there next year?

As a supporter base it means we can get in and out of Sydney before the magpie infestation arrives.

The Alice game will give us a week or so to recover for an "away" game against the pies on QB which falls on June 10 next year. I'm guessing our bye will follow that so will be interesting to see if we get screwed again by playing on the Thursday night after it.
  6. Hi Witches Hat. I think they would host if Adelaide made it through now as well by way of beating them in their Qualifying Final. BTW you weren't playing for us today were you?
  7. This is looking like a choke of epic proportions. Smashed at the contest and in contested marks. Poor decision making when we do get open. Brisbane must be laughing. Had to win the last game of the season to snatch a double chance and now look like hosting another Grand Final. I think that might be 5 quarters in a row now that we've been goalless.

We're probably the match of the round in a stand alone game on a Thursday night so as supporters have an opportunity to get in and out before all of the hoi polloi descends on the place.
  9. Just saw the Crows v Bears score. All set up for Melbourne based games against both of them if we get past North. Everyone else involved in finals really are just making up the numbers this season.
  10. Walked into a deli near home where they were showing the memorial service on a tv only to see Eddie McGuire's massive boofhead filling the screen. That sanctimonious git shouldn't have been anywhere near our hallowed ground today let alone be the MC.
  11. The state of the two Collingwood twerps. Was that a cigarette or a lollipop hanging out the gob of one of them?

The issue is that the AFL put profit above everything else, including integrity. The never ending drive to wring the very last buck out of every opportunity is the reason we have a compromised fixture and contorted tribunal findings when it's "stars" are on trial. Had WADA not been involved there's little doubt the Essendon drug saga would have been swept under the rug and it's why they didn't insist on Eddie Maguire's removal from the Collingwood presidency after he compared Adam Goodes to King Kong. Also, I'm not aware of any other sports that slap adverts all over it's goalposts, goal square, ball, centre circle and field of play.
  13. You're thinking of clunge.
  14. Taking unsubstantiated MFC rumours and allegations out of the mix really has seen us struggle for topics to discuss this off season.

Becoming a 'big club' won't necessarily see us avoid trips down to KP. We'll still need to become bigger than at least some of the existing 'big' Victorian clubs and push them down the pecking order. You can probably guarantee that each of Footscray, North and St Kilda will be playing down there for the foreseeable future. Then there's us. Now that Carlton are up and about again we should probably be setting our sights on overtaking Hawthorn. A win for us would be Geelong choosing to host their Easter Monday game at KP every second year with their new increased capacity.
  16. It’s that time of year again when 30,000 nuffies post a picture of exactly the same membership pack on social media.

We could have a round 1 prequel and all participants get a bye in round 9 and 3/4.
  18. Navy blue with a red yoke. Didn't see that coming.

I don't know. I never said I did. It's a thought using Collingwood as an example. Given that small percentages can be the differences between a win and a loss, would Geelong rather.... $1 million profit (ie) & play reigning premiers at Kardinia Park. $1.2 million profit (ie) & play your allocated home game against the reigning premiers at their home ground.
  20. Whilst some other clubs prefer to hoover up all matter of human detritus as a business model being a good person seems a be a prerequisite to join ours. As Goody said this week, culture sits above everything else.

With the increased capacity there also needs to be a larger % of seating assigned to the visiting support. Particularly Melbourne based opponents. There should be a section of the ground where seats are not allocated to season ticket holders and instead are sold on a game by game basis, say 3,000 perhaps. These are first offered to the away side and can be purchased through the club by their own members, one bay at a time. Any that remain unsold by the Thursday of a Saturday game for example can then be purchased by home fans.

With the new 40k capacity down at KP and the enormous match day revenue the Cats rake in you'd think they'd now be at a point where they'd rather play the best sides down there rather than give away their big home ground advantage to the likes of Collingwood, in particular. I'm sure that given a choice they'd play 11 games there a year so the away games at the G thing must be an AFL directive.
  23. Hard not to like the guy. Shame he's no longer a Dee.
