Who cares about the media. Demonland provides the only affirmation I need of how good we really are.

Appreciate the link/alerts about the Guardian/The Roar stories. Both thoughtful well written articles with intelligent analyses.
Reminds me of football journalism of bygone years. Alf Brown and writers of his ilk. The Sporting Globe aka ‘the Pink Bible’ after the game on Saturday night recapping the highs and lows. Greg Hobbs, Geoff Poulter and Ken Piesse. Monday’s Age Patrick Smith et al the Sun Mike Sheahan et al and later the Australian.
More immediately the radio 3LO 3AW 3KZ and 3UZ which annoyingly had the horse racing calls during the game. And if you were lucky the Demons got football replay on 7 luckier still as winners.
ABC no advertising/self promotion back then and some decent callers. Drew Morphett et al. Special comments Tim Lane, especially liked David Parkin astute, articulate worth listening to.
Now IMHO the ABC caters for disparate demographics and is rife with post-Babel agendas. That attempt to appease ‘moderne’ mores but ultimately diminishes the whole.
Switched off years ago. Dumped Foxtel and Kayo. Content now to choose and pick even if it is on 24 hour delay. In my first full year over here I used to listen to our games on a big old radiogram the folks had picked up from an op shop (along with the rest of our furniture) but being rubbish at the time we were almost always on the two racing channels, 3UZ and 3DB where the gee gee's always got priority.

I'm not sure if GC have ever won at the Gabba. Or even come close to winning.

Forget giving your opponent some credit, he didn't even mention the opponents once.
That's just really poor form.
Compare his presser to goody's - he was humble in victory and was effusive in his praise for the cats and how good a team.he is.
There's no coincidence that in the two post match interviews I've heard from dees players - may and langers - both were similarly complimentary about the cats.
Hi binny. I know but that's just who he is. He's always been that way. That's how he's wired. He's rarely gracious about anything. I listened to Goody's presser straight after and in stark contrast he spent as much time talking about how good the Cats are as he did about us but that's who Goody is. Watching them back to back though certainly does highlight their differences and I know who I'd rather have representing my club.

Just watched Chris Scott's presser on the back of all the comments and didn't think it was so bad. He's always been begrudging of praise to the opposition and I thought he made a good job of engaging with the journos instead of treating them like the numpties most of them are.

Looks like a lot of the Tiger Army have been captured by the enemy or are MIA.

Yeah, Oliver Walker-Peel. Definitely not used to an accent like that commentating footy. His Dad played for Burnley and Preston etc in the 90s
Just looked him up on insta. He has an impressive CV for such a young lad. Blackburn Rovers supporter too.

Is the Lancastrian lad commentating the same person that did a lot of our AFL post game interviews last year?

Does anyone have a contact at the club in the membership department?
For the 3rd home game in a row I had to move people out of our Reserved Seats, and we sat surrounded by Geelong supporters who just wandered in. The MCG staff don’t give a [censored]. I’m over it.
Yeah. We had randoms sitting in front and behind us all night in N53. Dees and Cats supporters. They would sit for a quarter and then be replaced by other randoms.

Bowser back to play the Blues. Good times.

This might just be the sweetest rail replacement bus journey home yet.

To be fair the SCG is a good hour away from the west of sydney
An hour trip once a year to play their city rival.

That's because all interstate clubs bar Gold Coast have far bigger fan bases. I would hazard a guess that Pies have more NSW based fans than GWS have fans in total.
Or perhaps the SCG to them is what Marvel is to our "supporters".
-
I reckon visiting interstate clubs bring a bigger crowd with them to the SCG than GWS do.
-
Did I just hear the commentator say welcome to a sold out SCG?? It's either half empty or a lot of people have come dressed as aqua coloured seats.

Train are also replacing buses on the Pakenham line FYI.
I am all for upgrading the railway system, but for crying out loud how long does it take?!!!
I know this is a typo but it does almost feel like buses are the default service, interspersed with the occasional convenience of a train replacing it.

Two words: replacement [censored] buses. Yep, it’s our train line’s lucky weekend. 🤬
Allow plenty of extra time and a truckload of patience, coz you’re gonna need it. Same for going home afterwards.
Heads up, @Rab D Nesbitt!
Thanks for looking out for me WCW. Luckily my place is almost equidistant to Ardeer station so I can catch a Ballarat V-Line train into Southern X and hopefully get the last one at night back again. Alas this means no post game drinkypoos.

I wonder when they're going to stop counting the number of showdowns they're currently up to?

I agree
NM just drop the North and we become the Melbourne Demons
And have an instant inner city training facility right in the heart of the new Arden precinct.

Some cracking matches
Arguably match of the round is on 1:45 on Saturday which is strange
WC to beat the bombers is my hot tip
I think when we last played in Hobart they played each other on the Saturday at Marvel and Essendon goaled in the final seconds to win by 1 point. I remember walking past a pub and stopped to watch the last two minutes when I saw the coasters were leading.

7PM match at the GABBA on Sunday night? Seriously htf did that get through to the final fixture?
Two Queensland teams. You'd be lucky if 20,000 people in the whole country GAF. 5,000 of whom support a team that hasn't existed for nearly 30 years.
Premiership Rings?
