I'm sure if you looked on certain Facebook, Twitter and bogan footy forum pages you would find a similar number of nuffies hating on Muslim people or gay people or Asian people and yes even white people! Why feed these trolls by emphasizing divisions and making aggressive gestures? It's dumb. And it's baffling because having heard Adam Goodes speak a number of times he seems an intelligent person and a likable person. Certainly was one of the great footballers of the past 25 years, indigenous and otherwise. But some of the decisions he made around that time were not bright and I can only surmise he either just didn''t have a good handle on public diplomacy, or he was being poorly advised by hysterical "Invasion Day" rabble rousers. Neither of those two reasons are sins in and of themselves, but they do explain at least in part, a reason why things got so out of control back then. The film won't touch that angle of course because it sits uncomfortably with the finger pointing narrative of having to put a spotlight on "racist whitey" at costs. Or "white folk" as you put it. Most AFL and even VFL forwards can apply pressure. It’s a bare minimum requirement. If you’re a forward you’ve also got to kick goals. As mid sized forward in particular you must also manufacture goals from half chances and opportunism. 10 in 11 games from a 70+ gamer playing most of his minutes near goal is C grade stuff. Its unacceptable and frankly amazing he’s not been dropped to Casey in that time.

Unfortunately, according to draft watchers, it’s a midfielders draft among the top 20 - 30 picks this year. Anyway, there’s no such thing as a ‘ready made’ 18yo key forward. Petracca’s statistically had his worst six weeks since his first six games for the club four years ago. He’s averaging just 70 SuperCoach points and has kicked a paltry 10 goals from 11 games as a permanent forward line player. Those are horrible returns. It’s amazing how divorced from reality our supporters (and the media) can be when it comes to this player. He’s either a chronic underperformer or simply not that good. I think it’s probably somewhere in between. The similarities with Colin Sylvia’s career path are eerily similar.
