It is very windy and warm here in Cairns. It should be cool enough by tonight and the wind should drop down after dark but you will want to kick a bag with the wind.
Possibility of light showers.

If its windy again Monday brace yourselves.
Everyone get a brace as it is still windy in Cairns.
Mind you this game starts latter than Thursdays - the wind dropped at 6.00pm so it may be less of an issue. Whatever our defense when the Swans were kicking against the wind was terrible.

One thing I can tell you, the images on the 'Big Screen' at Cazaly are smaller than the actual players

Played dumb footy for the conditions; when the wind dropped at half time we went ok.
Back 6 were terrible; Swans knew how to play the Weid; dont let him crunch the pack, crunch him in the pack.

Time to hang up the boots

Gates open in 1 hour. Nearly ready to head off. Nights have been cool so wearing long pants for the first time in 6 months. It is currently warm and windy. I am not excited, I'm hysterical.
Now c'mon the Dees.

Fairly short break going up to the hot and humid Cairns. Luckily the same day break as the Swans.
There will definitely be a few changes.
It's raining and cold here at the moment.
Can I just say I've got tickets?

Past : Tassie Johnson, Robbie Flower defied the laws of motion, Lyon for leadership, Neitz we took for granted - Wiz and Jako for entertainment
Current : Trac has turned into the player we all hoped for, Salem cool as a cucumber

Conspiracy theories.....ummm yes; the Prime Minister, Mr D Andrews has directed the umpires to favour those clubs with working class (coal mining) roots. What about the Swannies you may ask? Most of the directors own a coal mine.
Another quiet day in TNQ.

Hope I can get tickets to the Cairns games

As a side note, has anyone else noticed that, in photos of Clarry during games, he mostly seems to be grinning?! Obviously loves his footy!
Against Norf the whole team was smiling; haven't seen such a happy Dees bunch in a long time. If you are ever feeling flat watch the last quarter.

I think it is a bit rich coming from Wallace who's club made many do a long apprenticeship in the magoos before selection.

Already one of our best trades in ages. Has pace and endurance, works up and down the ground really hard.

If memory serves me correct they will be saying
"That wasn't Hawthorn out there today"

If the club are chasing this bloke, the desperation button has been whacked
I thought we pushed that button back in the 70's

If i remember we started really flat in that game, which surely must be preparation....

What about Brian Wilson? Dogs to North then to us. And won a Brownlow with us.
Would have thought he could have scraped into the side.

Ha ha, I remember this. It was glorious and Big Carl had a great time that day, the Magpie players less so.
Teddy Fidge's last game was also against Collingwood in 1988 when he snotted Magpie champ Darren Millane early on and put him out of the game, which we won. Fidge got suspended for a few matches (justifiably, I might add) and that was the last we ever saw of him in red and blue. If it was a plan, it worked!
Ted Fidge; I have a memory vs Richmond, ball down Punt Rd end, Ted on the members wing (right in front of me), when a Richmond player pointed to his chin and asked Ted to have a go....gee there was alot of blood.
Anyway back on topic what about Jamie Duursma...played on Dermot 2 weeks running and did the job, did a job on Kernahan in a final; not a great player but played some great games

Big Carl was captain/coach of the Dee’s in ‘79. I particularly remember his last game against Collingwood where he went about clobbering every opposition player in sight, very entertaining and something one doesn’t see these days.
I also remember Big Carl throwing a wild back hander and collecting one of our own, Kelly O'Donnell

Didn't we hire Northey simply because he was the cheapest. Northey for mine considering our recruiting was tripe.

The original measure was borrowed from Collingwood

I used to like? 3GL....
Ump bounces the ball, big tap by Polly, Goggin charging through, Walker gets to it, great spoil by West.....
Goal to Melbourne
Bad luck cats, 2 free kicks missed.....
