I think he was quite old and said it in seriousness. I don’t really consider someone in their 40’s or 50’s that old anymore 😉

I remember there was a demonlander on here stating that he’d accepted he’d never see another flag in his lifetime. Can’t remember who he was. Really hope he’s still alive

I love watching it when Bont kicks that goal. His celebration isn’t a “I just kicked a good goal.” It’s so overdone it’s a “I just won the premiership for us.” Never get too excited until the siren goes. The funniest thing was Trelor kicked the next goal and his lack of celebration afterwards. Bont must have felt so stupid after the game, what his that premature celebration captured all over the screen.

The fact is it’s rubbish. If he’s got something against the club then he can pass the baton to someone else. I thought the weg one was just perfect

When will Melbourne break these embarrassing records?

I feel so old that I remember Star Trekkin -
Ah just realised. I am trying to post about our first premiership-winning captain (Wardill.) Because of his name, they’re automatically assume I’m swearing 🤦 The fact is he wasn’t known as “Richard” Wardill

I just realised that since we won our first premiership, we have always had at least one living-premiership captain. Wardill died in 1929, two years after Albert Chadwick won the 1926 premiership. Chadwick died in 1984, while surviving premiership captains, Beckwith, Barassi and Mcmahen are alive to see Gawn win the 2021 premiership -
Is it just me or a lot of the times the losing poster looks better than the winning poster?

But how did they play WITH Dusty this year. Pretty ordinary. He was well below his peak before he was injured. His goal kicking was lower. Just look at how they were beating us our game. NONE of that was due to Dusty, he did virtually nothing all night even before he was injured. My conclusion is Dusty is only going to get older and sower now. He’ll be to Richmond what Franklin is to Sydney now. It’s my opinion they should stop relying on Dusty or they’re headed for a massive rebuild
-
No actually it is. Dusty has not been impressive when he has been playing. They have actually been better as they don’t look around for and rely on him now. They actually played better against teams without him. He was rubbish in the team without us. They can win without him and they proved it. Bring that he wasn’t his best in most games I don’t think they lost too much. They lost several by large scores. Unlikely one man could have changed that Besides he won’t be there forever. They’re learning to win without him
-
Just watched it myself. I keep wondering why I was so worried when it was happening 🤣
-
I’d say he plans on going back after he retires (fair enough) and will just rent it out until then
-
Yeah but in most of those games he wasn’t a standout. We never won a game without Dietrich, doesn’t mean he was the best player in the team
-
Martin was not impressive this year. Even when he went out in the game before us he’d had about 8 touches (if that.) They won a few good games after he was out. Besides if they can’t win without one player, then they shouldn’t be in the competition
-
Personally I thought they did better without Martin last year. He wasn’t that impressive when he played and when he was gone they stopped being over-reliant on one player

Got it for Christmas (along with the pictorial of our gf win.) A really good read so far. It’s an interesting look at the background scenes. I recommend

No two teams have played each other in more grand finals. Personally I’d like to beat hawks in a grand final. I’m still bitter about 1988
