I think that only applies if you’ve had multiple fines previously, his last two have been suspensions so if this is assessed as a fine it’s his first low-level one

If that's the case, there's more scope to argue for a fine.

According to the MRO guidelines, I'd assess this as Rough Conduct per new tackle/smother rules; grading Careless -> Low Impact -> High contact which constitutes a fine according to their rules.

    Agreed.

Max gets hit in the head twice as hard as this multiple times EVERY game and it never gets reported,

This incident, whilst duly making contact to the head with the shoulder was nonetheless light. Soligo was not concussed. Soligo played on immediately. Come on.

Fine. $3750 downgraded to $2500 with an early guilty plea.

I'm tipping this because that's the outcome I want!

Correction. I just checked the 2024 AFL Tribunal info brochure. This will be Kozzie's 3rd appearance at the tribunal in the last 2 years. The best outcome possible with a 3rd early guilty plea to "Careless, Low impact, High Contact" is a fine of $6250. Lets hope that is the case...

Or he missed three very gettable goals which puts the pressure back on us. A 3-4 goal buffer instead of a 6-7 goal buffer.

What stood out most though is Melbourne pride themselves on contest and defence. Billings provides none of that. His kicking and ball use against Hawthorn was good. They gave him space. In tight contested games like Port and this one, he doesn't want to know about it which is very un-Melbourne like.

I'm not convinced. If he kicks those 3 goals he's a hero. I'll watch his defensive and contested efforts more closely from now on sparked by your comments. Lets see how he goes...

The only real negative for tonight is  Kozzie’s likely suspension. We really need him next week. Not a lot in it, but enough in today’s game and completely avoidable and unnecessary.

All good. I think you'll find that the bio mechanics expert will show that the Adelaide player changed direction at the crucial moment. Precedence has been recently been set...

  7. I am sick of Collingwood getting off scott free where other clubs get suspensions. Something has got to change. Now. It should start with Pendlebury's suspension for his DOG ACT on Neale tonight.

    DOG.

    ACT.

  8. Fox Footy commentators saying just now in response to Pendlebury's hit on Neale "its ok to whack players in the solar plexus for the next 12 months". UNBELIEVABLE. I'l say it again. Pendlebury needs to be suspended for 2 weeks for that. DOG ACT.

Channel 7 asking Pendlebury in the post match interview about a ‘love tap’ on Neale is everything wrong with the AFL.

Stop creating the narrative. They did it last year and it’s fundamentally wrong.

It makes me hate the game.

Dog act from Pendlebury. Dangerous hit off the ball more than 5 metres away. Pendlebury hit Neale with full force with the ball of his hand to his solar plexus. Pendlebury said it was retaliation in the interview and the retaliator always gets caught. He should be suspended for 2 weeks. Dog act.

  10. Dog act from Pendlebury on Neale. Off the ball, easily more than 5 metres. Not in play. Pendlebury slams the base of his hand into Neale's Solar Lexus. No warning. Dangerous. SHOULD BE SUSPENDED FOR AT LEAST 2 WEEKS.

    Dog act Pendlebury.

    Dog act.

Thanks for sharing. As has been noted by a previous post, no mention at all of plans for MFC in this story.

    Greetings my phonetic namesake 😊

Apologies for late response - I don't venture onto DL very often these days and only just saw your notification.

Not sure guest passes can be bought there.   Last year they could only be ordered/paid for directly with the club and then collected at the ground.

For future reference, this year guest passes can be purchased on line.

One would think they could email/sms/mobile app the guest passes back but no, we still need to line up at the ground to collect them.  Still in the dark ages !!!

    Lou.C - you can be DL's new Luci !!!  😉

Many thanks for this info L.H. This and your kindred spirit is much appreciated.

I did see the email with the link to purchase guest passes online but by Sunday it was apparently too late use this facility.

As luck would have it, I managed to obtain a guest pass for my daughter simply by lobbing up to the friendly MFC staff at gate 3 on Sunday at about 11:30 am and they were happy to sell me a child's members guest pass for $10. Good value I reckon!

After collecting the guest pass, we shared some lamb with garlic and chips from one of the outdoor food vans, then went to the kids activities between gates 2 & 3, and my daughter enjoyed traversing the inflatable obstacle, climbing the rock wall in harness, face painting, receiving a couple of give-aways, buying a MFC cap and Max Gawn badge, all before entering the MCG. During the game she told me she was quite anxious as she REALLY wanted Melbourne to win. We were both so glad when the result was as decisive as it was in Melbourne's favour.

We went down to the fence at the end of the game and Big Benny Brown came right over to us with a couple of footys in hand. Whilst we didn't get one of those, it was just great to be so close the fine young man and his big smile after a great win over the Doggies.

After the train ride home and returning home, my daughter told me quietly that she really enjoyed the day at the footy.

Me too I said, me too!

A cameo visit to DL for rescue before tomorrow.  So thanks DLers!  However, some things worked but then they stopped working.

So had to try other methods,

Binman, if this is the error message you received click on OK and it should take you to the tickets screen and your ticket will be there.  Or click ok and if it takes you to the menu page click on 'mobile membership' and the ticket should be there.

    image.png.eaf435105b91cbb2477d3bb9ae5f67c6.png

Failing all that and for the benefit of other DLers, several other things I tried were:

    • to login thru the mfc website which worked sometimes and I could then access the tickets in the app, sometimes I couldn't.
    • turned the phone off/on and I think that worked ... a bit hard to tell if it worked as I was trying other methods at the same time.

Hopefully, one of the above will work for you and others.

Binman, rather than go 2 hours early just go to the mfc office (between gate 3 and 4) and they will give you a pass for the day and you can sort the app out at your leisure.

    Go dees!

Edit:  As extra safeguard save the ticket to 'wallet' or take a screenshot which saves the ticket to the 'gallery' ... just in case the app fails when at the G

Can you buy MFC member guest passes today at the MFC Office (between gate 3 and 4)?

  14. I read Gus's letter and was moved by his eloquent expression of how grateful he is. It moved me. I wish he could keep playing but he has accepted the news that it is too risky to keep playing. He is a heart and soul player of the Melbourne Football Club. A generational talent - not just with his footy skills but his love for the club, and his intellect for the game and life in general. It just hurts to know he won't play again. I feel for you Gus, I wish you all the best for the future mate. Thanks for the best memories. Your diving mark and goal in the 21 GF in Perth to put us back in front is something that I will NEVER forget. Good on you legend.
