2018 Membership Thread
Once we reach a membership of 65k plus and an average of 40 k plus on crowds we should have the financial resources to compete and win a premiership. Until then fixable issues like injury management & prevention wonât go away. We have done very well in recent years to increase recources in our recruting departments & player development elements so that should see us stabilise somewhat baring a run of horrific injuries. I should mention the AFL is doing a very good job to make the clubs more âbusiness likeâ in and diversified in their thinking. Some clubs have grasped the concept some have not. We now understand the Draft is not an equalisation tool - more a method to extent the reach of the season. Financial success is the tool to equalisation in 2018 - you have to understand the âClarkson clusterâ dominates AFL onfield sucess in this era. The last 5 premierships ie 3 x hawks, 1 x bulldogs and tigers have come from this way of thinking.

Is that you Kevin? We have told you before MR Bartlett itâs people like you that have held our club back for years. Even if we make a grand-final Iâm sure you will find something to complain about. Sorry, Kevin we are building a positive innovative community that works with the AFL - sorry if that does not suit your agenda of constant whining & complaining. Bye-bye Kevin your days are numbered - enjoy the unemployment queues.

I should add we are building strong bonds with the AFL and other teams in the competition, working towards strong bonds with key stakeholders in the community at large , re-invigorating our brand to attract the younger generation - but most of all giving the players perspective so they can emulate what the club is trying to do off the field . Our players past and present are everything to us - we treat them with respect and hope one day they can deliver the ultimate goal.

Keep your chin up we will be fine. When the going gets tough the tough get going. We are developing a innovative positive culture but that will take more than just people inside the club to understand that - hence the need for time, but as you say we mainly are a resilient lot of supporters. The good times are a coming - Go Dees

I really like our scarf, i send them all around the world to promote our brand/football club. Funny enough the Americans & the Swiss love them the most. Think its something to do with the colours and having Melbourne on it.

A Day at the Races
She was amazing these days I just sit and watch her without one cent on her - as they say the more you bet the more you win. Im looking forward to watching her career in the breeding barns - if she ever gets there!!!!

Cheers Didn't see Maccas input. All the best hope you make a tidy profit, tough game and it is not an easy business.

A Day at the Races
If you are backing all combinations at level stakes you will find it hard/impossible over the long-term to turn a profit. Now I'm assuming 2 & 6 were not the same price and your selection for 3rd "the field" all cant be the same price.

A Day at the Races
Don Scotts ratings are a tad outdated for obvious reasons. However, his principles hold true. We smashed the bookies, over 3 sports, over a 5-6 year period. We had professional analysis's in each sport & a database/price computer team. So much so we ended up working/partnership with certain companies in their price assessments we even happily took part of the exposure. So you are up against the professionals - You need to work your butts off or over the long run you will just be "another mug punter".

A Day at the Races
You guys need to get yourself a copy of the best book ever written on horse racing - Winning More by the legendary Legal Eagle - Don Scott ( not Don Scott of footy fame ) He will help with your multiple betting options and even more importantly how to frame a market to maximise returns. I've sold my business in this sector. But if I was ever looking to get back into this sector I would look at Tennis Betting.

All the more reason to stay positive at all times. You might actually be helping the club by just that little act alone - remaining positive when others wont. Go Dees

You have to ignore Chazz he has no idea what he is talking about. Both Rockliff & Motlop netted 1st Round compensation picks to their original clubs so you are right they did come at a premium in salary cap space. Watts we moved on to help clean up space in 2019 cap - there are a few very interesting options on the table at the end of this year. Could be a very interesting time ahead in the player movement space for a relatively young and up & coming list - our timing could well be impeccable for once. Much will depend on Ports on-field performance ie How deep, deep they go into September

You dont know that. Its a straight out guess. Best way to do that is stay positive at all times & ignore the negativity by some on Demonland. MFC have some of the best supporters in the AFL they have proved their resilience year after year.

We had a fair crack at Ollie last time he was out of contract. Think he knows we are interested. Kid can win his own football and thats the key criteria you need in todays game. This time its also a little different, Port have bet the farm on Watts, Motlop & Rockliff, we are an up & coming force. Plus last time when in negotiations I got the feeling - Ollie is not all about the $$$$. Port this time also have Boak, Polec, Westoff plus a few more big names up for debate. Much will come down to their on-field performance. Interesting times ahead - Can Port retain them all with a poor on-field performance.

So much for the Collingwood game last year being the end of the world as some on Demonland where claiming. 200 down is nothing beat the Cats round 1 and we will eat those 200 for brunch.

Fenceology Predicts the ladder
You nailed it where our major problem sits, exactly what has been one of our biggest problems in the last 20 years. However, think we are thru that phase now, club is a far more positive environment circa 2018. Think club has learned ( all be it very slowing) to ignore the negativity from certain supporters and remain positive and upbeat at all times. Very bright future ahead.

I have this feeling we hope he is going to be Levers partner in crime for around 8 year.

I love his name - would look good on the team sheet. Thats good enough for me to get my support. But I defer to the better judges on his football talent.

No White for MFC Clash Jumpers for Season 2018
Not a problem, I"m glad you and others care. As I said earlier, if its important to you, knock yourself out, good luck.

No White for MFC Clash Jumpers for Season 2018
You totally missed the point - before the event some people will find something to complain about ie this years grand final 1&2 are both just opinions. clash jumpers are just marketing events, some you will win some you lose, you can never please all of the people all of the time. But I'm tipping if we go undefeated in our clash jumper this year - watch sales start to soar irrespective of your opinion irrespective of the colours involved. Its just such a non-issue. You focus on the colours of our jumpers - i will focus on the results of our games, then the clash jumper will resolve itself.
