  1. I’m sure it will be some derogatory term against a person who has a different opinion as him. His other popular term would be “troll” the irony is quite funny. It’s the most banned term around the internet but the most misused term. Happy to be wrong of course
  2. The haters are always going to hate every club has the same problems- just part of life.
  3. Sorry you are asking the wrong person that question. I’m a football person - I barrack for the MFC that play the game of AFL football in the sports entertainment business. I support the AFL and I’m happy to discuss football matters and learn from anybody at any club. Go Dees
  4. With all due respect to past administrators much of their time was consumed dealing with political or religious agenda pushers. Which often led to polarisation that spilled over into football matters. This club had been dogged with those problems for decades plus the “haters” who are always going to hate. The MFC is now politics and religion free - all are welcome male or female, young or old etc
  5. Don’t think the terminology you used is correct ie pipe dreams & wishy washy IMHO the club has a clear strong message. We are a football club not a religious or political organisation. We are prepared to make positive innovative changes to attract a whole new generation of supporters. the AFL assisted us with the rebirth of our club - the AFL goals and MFC goals are aligned. Some of us will be forever grateful for the assistance and key personnel the AFL provided. This will upset some but it was recognised long, long ago some who want to hold onto the ways of the past and resist change. Such is life. Go Dees
  6. Omg who would have thought these are our strategic goals grow the fan base, increased game attendances strategy to reposition our club 'for the next generation of fans' (Barlett's words). Sounds like the “old boys” club is gone, gone, gone Go Dees
  7. You need to teach your grand-daughter that to answer that question you probably need around 40-50 hrs of form analysis, then take that form analysis and have the ability to frame your own markets - a strong back ground in mathematics, probability and computer literacy . Helps. Now she is up against professionals ie Bookmakers with deep pockets - it’s not easy money it’s a tough, tough grind. However, if she wants to take the “lazy option” she is probably better to stick with tattslotto like her grand-parents generation probably did. But remind her the odds of winning lotto.
  8. Traditionally AFL football clubs have not been good in the business of making money.
  9. This does raise the obvious question - How do you replace the gambling revenues coming into the game? Think there is another thread on the site discussing that very question - so maybe a question you don’t have to answer here. If, you can’t anwer that question you have to deal with the situation as it is. Personally, I don’t mind either way - I’m happy to deal with the situation as it is until a better ulternative is put forward. Go Dees
  10. Think many people these days are working hard to ensure we do have the money to fix our own issues. Ultimately, football is just a game in the business of sports entertainment. As much as that may upset people you can’t change what is out of your control.
  11. Geez ideas to grow our crowds and income streams - now I like that. Go Dees
  12. You are spot on - in his mind the random number pulled out his rear end is pure negative speculation. Fortuntely, MFC has a loyal resilient supporter base - we prove it Year in Year out. But we have also had “the veil” to deal with - such is life. These days the club is a very positive environment with very positive people controlling the Levers. Long may it continue. Go Dees
  13. That’s a very good question- I suspect you are not going to like the answer - No- let me explain. With memberships you are in the business of selling hope. Most MFC understand the process - we are grinding out solid sustainable improvement year after year. We talk alot about the Tigers - they are brilliant at selling hope then upgrading your financial commitment- you would be staggered what I pay for my Tigers membership - but that’s for business reasons. Would you buy or sell a share based on a company having one bad day - the trend is you friend. One bad day on the football field is exactly the same - makes no difference- the trend is your friend. Its only the irrational numpities that make desicions based on one game - Essendon and every other team in the league are living proof you sell memberships on hope. You just have to ignore the “negativity” coming from the MFCSS inflicted. They are complaining experts , they will complain about the fixture, complain about the AFL, complain about the MFC - Roos addressed it but they are so stupid they did not understand what Roos was talking about. We have a very bright future in a very tough environment. Go Dees
  14. Nah you were all just being a bunch of negative old sooks Did you bother to look at their 2105 numbers? You are comparing us to a bunch of drug cheats - LMAO Essendon ? 2015 61,000 2016 57,500 2018 67,800 - Essendon make the finals Melbourne 2015 36,000 2016 39,150 2018 42,250 - Demons dont make finals So what is your point? You are wrong again - Again MFC supporters show their resilience. I wonder what happened at the DRUG cheats in 2016? Please stop insulting some MFC supporters there may have been other reasons the drug cheats got such a big growth and it has SFA to do with making finals.
  15. Success is a great accumulator in life. Some can reach it as a matter of mind set - some will never reach it even sadly if their life depended upon it. Success can be defined by walking off the battle-field with two arms and two legs haven given your all ( self defined ) and be prepared to go again. Elite performance is not about how intelligent your are it’s about how determined you are and the sum of the people around you.
  16. There was certain people claiming the last round would cost us thousands of members - it clear they are wrong again - MFC supporters display their resilience again. Not long now and we get rid of the negative old boys once and for all. Go Dees
  17. This is an annual event at your footy club great to hear it worked for you. Hope you enjoy the season.
  18. Once we reach a membership of 65k plus and an average of 40 k plus on crowds we should have the financial resources to compete and win a premiership. Until then fixable issues like injury management & prevention won’t go away. We have done very well in recent years to increase recources in our recruting departments & player development elements so that should see us stabilise somewhat baring a run of horrific injuries. I should mention the AFL is doing a very good job to make the clubs more “business like” in and diversified in their thinking. Some clubs have grasped the concept some have not. We now understand the Draft is not an equalisation tool - more a method to extent the reach of the season. Financial success is the tool to equalisation in 2018 - you have to understand the “Clarkson cluster” dominates AFL onfield sucess in this era. The last 5 premierships ie 3 x hawks, 1 x bulldogs and tigers have come from this way of thinking.
  19. I really like our scarf, i send them all around the world to promote our brand/football club. Funny enough the Americans & the Swiss love them the most. Think its something to do with the colours and having Melbourne on it.
  20. She was amazing these days I just sit and watch her without one cent on her - as they say the more you bet the more you win. Im looking forward to watching her career in the breeding barns - if she ever gets there!!!!
  21. - yeah there are some funny names. I like the horse called - Near Queue which is a bit of a play on Far Queue ... that always makes me chuckle
  22. Cheers Didn't see Maccas input. All the best hope you make a tidy profit, tough game and it is not an easy business.
  23. If you are backing all combinations at level stakes you will find it hard/impossible over the long-term to turn a profit. Now I'm assuming 2 & 6 were not the same price and your selection for 3rd "the field" all cant be the same price.
  24. I'm confident we will get a deal done if Ollie elects to leave SA - but with a huge emphasis on the if.
  25. Don Scotts ratings are a tad outdated for obvious reasons. However, his principles hold true. We smashed the bookies, over 3 sports, over a 5-6 year period. We had professional analysis's in each sport & a database/price computer team. So much so we ended up working/partnership with certain companies in their price assessments we even happily took part of the exposure. So you are up against the professionals - You need to work your butts off or over the long run you will just be "another mug punter".
