I'm sorry to hear about your family member, some people can be real" mug punters" at times (& I mean no offence by the term mug punter) . I know many people in the professional sports business, I love football they love and work very hard in their chosen sport. I can see how some people could lose every thing on those computer games designed to take their money. Not me. but I feel for those people. But unlike you I dont put all forms of gambling into the same bucket - but I had to go learn that for myself However, I respect your right to an opinion so maybe we agree to disagree. I sincerely hope your family member gets the help he needs.

Yeah I did. What you dont get it that Poker Machines revenues are what we are talking about - not sports betting revenues. But thats right you dont understand the difference so we are probably talking round in circles if you refuse to educate yourself.
-
Suggest you need to go and get the information for yourself - I had too so I dont see why I should do the work for you. Nice call - I sometimes wonder if you could say, I think it’s proof that soon the only thing between Cameron Schwab and Peter Jackson is a slightly more personable public persona - except one was a politician and one is a professional football person. Now I've been fortunate, I worked with both and although I firmly in the Jackson camp ( Im a football person) I can see the good in other people and I accept in some debates I will win and some I will lose. But at the end of the day both do what they think is best for the MFC - so that is good enough for me. You probably wont believe this but I think Eddy & Jack always did what they thought was best for their footy clubs & I respected that and would not be out of the question I could agree with both or disagree with both, but if I thought it was bad for the MFC I would work with my "mates" to get a compromise where we reached a win-win scenario. I dont mind walking a mile in a man's moccasin's to understand why they think like they do.

hahaha - if you cant see what the difference between Poker Machines vs Greyhound & horse Racing ( & other forms of Sports Betting ) - why does this not surprise me. I can see why now you also struggle with nearly every other important issue we discuss. But you are not alone. Personally, I dont mind what way this debate goes but I appreciate to some people poker machines are a community killer. So on that basis this is one debate I'm prepared to concede. Im sure given time the AFL will work with clubs to keep the impact to a minimum. The MFC have many reasons to thank the AFL over recent years, actions always speak louder than words.

Also lets be clear this is a Victorian issue, yet we live in a National Competition community, we can walk in their community and understand their issues. The AFL has spoken, some you will win some you will lose. Watch you dont become MFC yesterday, constantly whinging and whinning on fixturing, clash juerseys, poker machines what will it be next week? MFC gets on with the business of community building, building our brand, building our football department, building our memberships, building our revenue streams, building our crowds ALL aimed at building our way to a premiership - as soon as possible.

Thats what amused me about the Lions table last night, every time you saw them they where grinning like cats that stole the cheese - WTF they finished 18th did they forget that?
-
Ever consider changing the name of the site to - Portland nee Demonland - Port are taking all our "whipping" boys you could double the traffic.
-
That does not sound like gambling to me - that sounds like a scam/misleading form of entertainment designed as a government revenue raiser. But that may be a hard concept for you to understand

I'm revising my team again JT was really good to me on draft night - he filled my needs exactly - thanks JT you never let me down buddy B: Jetta Petty Hibberd HB: Salem Lever Hunt C: Brayshaw Oliver Petracca HF: Melksham TMac Hannan F: Garlett Hogan Spargo Fol: Gawn Jones Viney Int: Lewis, Maynard, Baker, Fritsch Go Dees
-
- Bailey went at 15 - Brisbane [censored], he will be back this has Lever Mk 2 written all over it - Miers went at 57 - Geelong have got a goood buy, think had we got Bailey Spargo would have been gone - Fritsch went to us yeah , think we went at 31 because he may have not lasted to 36 - North went at 65 to Fremantle but he was my smokey this kid can play, maybe lacks a yard of pace
-
if you look at drafts in isolation you are making a grave mistake. You build a list over many draft & trade periods.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARRISON PETTY

I have this feeling we hope he is going to be Levers partner in crime for around 8 year. -
What would you pay more money for to help the MFC further stabilize?
DaveyDee replied to DaveyDee's topic in Melbourne Demons
ahhh - golf the other great American game ( although it was invented elsewhere ) - great idea thanks for the contribution. At this rate looks like opening a sports apparel business has a small edge, all be it in a very small sample size. -
Its been quite along time since Collingwood where the yard stick of the competition. Sure their memberships are strong but I'm suspicious - Collingwood supporters are living proof Tasmanian's can swim.

I'm going to stay on the following side of the ledger - where there is a will there is a way. -
I am also just putting it out there, think many at the AFL agree with you but in clubland things are a tad more tricky. But in recent years the MFC have a good record of not getting on the AFL bad side regarding petty issues hopefully that gives us some "brownie points" so to speak regarding this debate. We have just released a very pleasing set of accounts, we have a politics free leadership team that genuinely care about some of our supporters. Personally, I'm not fused but given some time you will get your wishes.

Yes, unique good quality apparel is also my fav idea - I like wearing red & blue sports apparel but not sure even I would purchase 4 million dollars per year worth of it - unless I could on sell it into another market elsewhere. Also these days I spend quite a bit of money on American NFL gear - I like the Green Bay Packers colours of Green & Grey but it is a bit wintery. Thanks for your fed back on the other idea, you might be right. -
Awesome work - hard to fault your argument. 1/ I have to watch what I say here, but yes I understand Dimmas strategy. Richmond did win the flag in 2017 so i was unfortunately forced to watch them on numerous occasion. 2/ Tyson yip I understand but I want to see more from the boy, he has talent to burn, but maybe a few injuries have set him back more than I appreciate. Vanders I just love his attitude from afar. 3/ Neal-Bullen happy to give and take. Cheers

Yeah North have done a fantastic job with zero debt & no poker machines revenues - but their ladder position is a bit of a concern. I prefer our position, slow reduction of debt, maintaining & increasing our FD spend and moving up the ladder. Hoping, optimisticly the AFL supports and works us on PM revenues
-
What I like most about the club circa 2017 is our willingness to work with the AFL, take what we are given and get on with it. Keep up the great work MFC

Great news well done MFC well done Jacko.

I would possibly pay twice a/ to list a company b/ to access the site - if the MFC took ownership of the project, they could freelance the design etc and hopefully on a pro-bona basis so as to reduce MFC cost & risk exposure to zero. MFC would have many unique advantages - biggest being they can "leverage" the word Melbourne and the respect and trust that come from being an AFL football club. But MFC would need a database, the ability to run the odd business function and the ability to recognise they have a very powerful asset they uniquely own in SEO & SEM terms - the word Melbourne linked to the trust of the AFL. So they would get a listing fee & a membership fee - its an opt-in service - nobody is forced to pay anything bit like Demonland offer extra services if you do take out a membership at Demonland. If the service did survive 3-5 years the commercial value skyrockets for businesses located in Melbourne because one of the biggest companies online Google - in their algorathims Google value website longevity. Anyway - But I'm not wedded to the idea, its a bit technical not everybodies cup of tea - I really like the unique clothing items in Demon Shop - I'm a buyer for sure on Ignitions suggestion. -

I love his name - would look good on the team sheet. Thats good enough for me to get my support. But I defer to the better judges on his football talent. -

WOW - just for the record it was not a "business proposal" - it was an idea. I'm not wedded to the idea. So far my fav is "unique MFC gear" I would wear that - hell Id even spend money on it. Yeah lets get back to - complaining about the fixture, the clash jumper, CC or BP - its much more fun. If you dont like the thread dont post in it, ignore it.
