Dawn of a new Era - Paul Guerra article 18.10.2025
I read the Oliver comment as being from Tim Lamb during the trade period (understandable line to take). Thought Guerra was quite transparent, pointing to locker room issues being behind us now Brand and Oliver are gone

Stop putting me through this emotional roller coaster. If GC rolled out BHs manager to put this to bed, they are perhaps more nervous now. Perhaps the intro piece was given on behalf of the manager by GC

Aren’t Melbourne meeting with GC Suns today to discuss the trade (per @Dannyz ). Could set up the meeting very nicely if BH manager drops a public trade request shortly prior to meeting

Wasn’t this specific @Ghostwriter so if your source has confirmed it, it adds weight to something most we’re throwing shade at. Take note @Demon4Life

Awesome @Demon Forever . Any sense whether he’ll go public with a trade request / stating his intentions to get to Melbourne?

It’s getting awkward for GC now. He’s being subtle enough so as to not completely blow things up but the message couldn’t be clearer. Hard to see how he they hold him to his contract given all this

I wouldn’t relent on BH. Walter could be a secondary target if we complete the Trac / BH deal early in the week. Mention Walter and we’d have no chance on BH
-
Bailey Humphrey
No, but Touk is the same age as Trac. If we’re looking to build on our strong young core, H meets the age profile

Too old for our list profile

This is all just guess work. Glad we’re not negotiating through the media - we’ve been very straight-bat and given them nothing

Geelong to be fined over 3rd party payments
Surely someone with too much time on their hands could goal and do some investigations via land titles office records, etc. There will be connections somewhere. I’m sure the AFL could uncover if they want to, but they don’t

I’d pay up and massively front-end. $2m this year, for example. Keep some cap space for Butters next year.

To all those potting Lamb, he doesn’t make list decisions by himself. Perhaps our former coach made it clear that we needed him for 26 and Lamb followed his orders. Post Goodwin’s removal, those plans changed. Seems to be tilting back towards a no DH policy

The List Manager Tim Lamb
Let’s just hold fire on this until post trade week. He might have been hamstrung under previous regime, and has something cooking in the background

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
We hold all the cards here. Humphrey & Flanders for Petracca - otherwise, he stays. I know Lamb is in the drivers seat, but interesting to see whether Guerra / King push towards being firmer / less collaborative. Their clarity in comms has been spot on - let’s see if they can be as effective at the trade table

Do the Saints realize that the salary cap isn’t a guide or the minimum amount they need to spend? Money for everyone!

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
Anyone recall his game style from his caretaker role at GC?
-
Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
Someone able to post the letter as emails playing up!

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
As our coach, or the one who is out?
-
Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
Most likely them being advised they’re not progressing and allowing them to withdraw. Would have been a pre-requisite for Buckley coming into our process. I’d say whittle down to final 3, then an announcement from there

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
It was the CEO’s polite way of saying thanks but no thanks to @picket fence

Go and Get JUH
Yes on what I’ve heard, not sure who would be taking him
-
SSP contenders
Yes, or a proper reserves / second tier with deeper squads, or if not a practice squad concept with an inactive list (like NFL). Think of WCE last year for example. Not a fun environment to train in when you’re struggling to get 24 together

SSP contenders
With AMW potentially having a season ending knee injury + our experience with Gus last year, this has to shine a light on the current SSP framework. Why is there a need for a cut-off at all until say shortly mid-season bye / round 12? It’s there to replace LTI to ensure equality in the playing lists. It’s not as is a club is choosing from next year’s draft pool but from those in second tier leagues…
