I agree with all comments apart from your last.  Robbie would not have played. I thought we were ,  well like the crow call.

just needed the ball to bounce our way in that goal square. Had our chances, just NQR.

Agree both Robbie and also Wilson would not have played in the GF. A good mate of mine who was the fitness guru then and unfortunately has passed got myself and son into rooms after game. It was a very sad sight. Both us and hawks were banged up and it was always Carlton's GF.

  2. Great news for Kolt, the team and us the members. Fantastic to have 2, 18 year olds in thursdays team and to also be 4 and 1 (soon to be 5/1). The FD need to be congratulated in finding these kids that can get into a top four side. Plenty of upside for us going forward.

  3. I'm going against a few on here and back May in if he is good to go. Can't take the Crows lightly and we need to bank these early wins. Whilst a 5 day break the guys have tomorrow and Wedns to get themselves up plus Crows only on a 6 day break and flew back from Perth whilst we settled back into the hotel after the great win against Port. Pick all players that are available, get the win and have a full week for the Lions then the bye.

I think reading between the lines the farm is being offered to Petty not the MFC

This could be similar or worse than the LJ fiasco - the compensation in that case was well under market imo and as time moves on it looks even worse. Players that can have a significant impact on the outcome of individual games are as rare as hens teeth - LJ is unquestionably in that category now and will become more valuable in time. For us Petty is close to that because he is our most versatile tall (the main question mark on him would be capacity to stay on the park consistently)

I’m still hopeful he decides to stick with us but if he is determined to leave get ready for us to to very disappointed with the compensation

With ya on being hopeful he stays but if it's the Crows then they will be coughing up heaps in salary for him and I trust 1st round picks for us.

Crows selling the farm for Petty while they have an average midfield would be crazy stuff

Agree. Also whilst, IMO Petty is a good player he is not great and worth the farm just yet. Suss to injuries and it's better to have players that want to play for you than not and wanting to go home. If he goes and the Crows give us the farm then so be it and we go and top up where required, like a ruck, key forward and maybe a key back to cover May & Lever. It is what it is and let's all hope he helps to bring us a flag this year.

  6. I would have thought that we also trained etc. in hot and humid weather so no excuses in my mind for the night. Both teams played in the same conditions and Swans were the better, more cleaner team. We missed so many marks under not much pressure. Saw Chandler drop 2/3 marks under minimal pressure. Been on this a while now but I would love a Guilden playing for us. His disposal over 50 metres is brilliant where our blokes couldn't hit the side of a barn.

Goody needs to get over his love child's. Has to realise that the likes of Spargo and Chandler are just VFL players at best. No way should have Spargo played with no games under his belt. Had a bloke like Billings and put him as sub. His experience and smarts from the start would have been good.

It's passed now but boy did we stuff up with Grundy . Played him a bit more along with Max including finals and it may have been the best ruck combination ever. Again Goody stuffed this up big time. Grundy gave Max a horrible hiding.

Let JVR evolve. He is NOT a key forward yet.

How many chances does Schack get. Just not up to AFL level. No heart. Pity as he was a 2 pick.

Need to improve around 20% to have a chance next week.

If there is one player from Sydney I hope we can take totally out of the game it's Pappley.  He's both a pretty important player for them and one I absolutely can't stand as an opposition supporter.

Would love nothing more than for someone to do a total shut down job on him and have him crack it, like the arrogant little prat he often behaves on the feild.

With you on this one Balls. If Paps gets up and about he can be very dangerous but also we need to keep Guilden quiet. He absolutely killed us in round 23 last year with about 100 possessions !!

Not all that fussed about the result but I want to be walking out of Ikon Park tonight with confidence that we’re ready to hit the ground running against Sydney next Thursday and that we’ll manage ok with a weakened forward line.

Not only is our forward line not getting any better next week it’s actually getting worse without Kozzie.

Our forward line are missing a few but I'm still bullish about those we will put out on the paddock. Also reckon Swannies backs are not that good. All depends on the mids. We win the pill and at least deliver it into the forwards a bit better than in the past we will win this.

Why do they continue to go with Schache and Tomlinson has got me beat we are going backwards.

    Seniors

    B: Lever, May, McVee

    HB: Salem, Tomlinson, Rivers

    C: Windsor, Petracca, Langdon

    HF: Billings, van Rooyen, Neal-Bullen

    F: Chandler, Fritsch, Pickett

    FOLL: Gawn, Sparrow, Viney

IC: Bowey, Laurie, K. Brown, Schache

    SUB: Howes

    Casey

    B: Freeman, Adams, Hore

    HB: Connelly, McDonald, Lual

    C: Steele, Oliver, Woewodin

    HF: Sestan, Verrall, Tholstrup

    F: Moniz-Wakefield, Jefferson, Farris-White

    FOLL: Fullerton, White, Szybkowski

IC: Peters, Shipp, La Planche, Valentine, Edwards

All good to keep having a go at the Schach attack and Tomo Werridee but try and be positive every now and again. Maybe they are our best alternatives at present and we need/have to run with them unless you have a better plan? alternative at the moment.

  10. Concur with all the sentiments on here. He was a great player and is a great Dees man. As Pert mentioned I hope he stays with us in some capacity. Maybe an assistant to an assistant coach. Whatever he does going forward he will remain one of our favourite players and bloke. Take care Gus and trust you stay well and remain around the club.

  11. IMO there is no middle ground here. We either come together as one BIG unit or we fall away big time. Let's trust it is the former. Adversity can bring unity if all buy in. Time will tell.

  12. Whilst we have wasted the last 2 years we should have won more finals particularly last season. We proved we are as good ,if not better than all other sides. It's well documented what our issues were up forward.  Gawn stays injury free, Oliver gets up and about sooner than later and with the newbies I believe we are well and truly right in the hunt again this season and next year. After that not to sure.

Great hands and can kick straight. Not a bad defender either!

Injury profile a big concern. He misses a lot of games. A fit and firing Petty will be a huge boost to our chances.

The elephant in the room is the crows. they'll come after him again next trade period. And I reckon he'll go.

Agree he will most likely go end next season hence we need to get, and keep him fit this coming season and it will certainly put us in line for another flag.

For me he’s better suited to the role we were having Jordon play in 2022. And might give Hunter or Langdon a scare if they don’t pull their fingers out. He’s quick, a good runner, good field kick (has shocking goal kicking yips though) and hasn’t ever really had a chance to put his best out there consistently.
This is some of the midfield depth we lost with Jordon and Harmes, not inside depth, but depth that complements our inside mid strength (Oliver, Viney, Trac, Sparrow). Shrewd and cheap.

Yep and this is a BIG IF. If he can get fit and has a decent run at it I reckon he's a lock for best 22. Guy can play providing his body stands up. Good move by us.

  15. You can have King, Wade, McKenna and Hudson in our forward line and still wouldn't kick a winning score. King just a youngster starting out whilst Wade had Goggin then Krakouers, Mckenna had Price etc hitting them up on the lead whilst Hudson had the whole forward line to himself. Until our current Mids learn to lower eyes and deliver correctly then no big name in our forward line will get us to the next premiership. Would prefer mids with elite disposal and awareness and stay with Petty JVR etc. Give me a Guilden like player and I'd be happy.
