    WHAT A [censored] JOKE!

PEDO NOT EVEN ON THE BENCH. WELL HIS PAPERS ARE STAMPED HE WON'T BE AROUND NEXT YEAR. IF HE CAN'T GET A GAME WITH HIS FORM HE'LL NEVER GET A GAME.

ANB AND HARMES CONTINUE TO GET A GAME. THE SELECTION COMMITTEE ARE A BUNCH OF MORONS.

Congrats to Spargo, I doubt McDonald will play considering he trained at Casey.

Lucky we are playing Essendon we wouldn't be able to beat another side on paper.

    POSSIBLE LINE UP

    B: J.WAGNER, O.MCDONALD, JETTA

    HB: BRAYSHAW, LEVER, HIBBERD

    C : HUNT, OLIVER, SALEM

    HF: NEAL-BULLEN, HOGAN, MELKSHAM

    F: GARLETT, WEIDEMAN, FRITSCH

    FOLL: GAWN, TYSON, JONES

    IC: SPARGO, LEWIS, VINCE, HARMES

    EMERG: HANNAN

We called it on spargo in the changes thread! Some jack higgens youthful type of crumbing spark defintely needed

Dropping Stretch is what I'm sure a lot of you will want, but doesn't he deserve another go against a slightly less physical opponent before we terminate his career (as some of you have)?

Ironic given that in the same breath you just said that last years leading goalkicker was "close to career over" after just 2 bad games.

  3. Heres an idea: Garlett AND spargo. Its ok to have more than one small crumber and a stack of plodding half fwd mids in there. I want some dynamism and youthfulness in there. Envious of Richmond and Jack Higgins to say the least.

I’m pretty sure that twice now ANB has tried to kick the ball off the ground in the Members’ pocket only for it to go out on the full.

Its almost as if he's a slow contested  posession midfielder thats been lumped into the forward line and told he's a small forward.

    Or McDonald.

I just wish we could clone Salem and have him put a clamp on a small forward and protect the crumb out the back, but also be up the other end providing a class inside 50s or presenting like Bruest for an accurate shot on goal.  But TMAC back is great. I hope we play him and weid. Risking being top heavy is better than having ineffective half forwards imo. But then again, etihad next week...

  6. I saw the fox footy vision of harmes being dragged into the contest in middle so that we had no targets forward, no nous at all. Bring in pederson for harmes. He can proviee a target with Weids.

Wagner, why is he flying for spoils with Lever, hibberd and Omac inbthe vicinity? What is the point of Wagner?

The FD should seriously reconsider Weids.  Fritsch much quick/cleaner by hand and a clean pair of heals in the wet.

Tracc takes on the role of Weids.

    Late change pls

goody just said  we need more time with big bodies of hogan and petracca in middle on sen, so weed needed up forward

Did you see us last week once it started to rain?

We probably should have given Jimmy bartell a 3 year contract instead of Lewis, if we're going to fallover to pieces whenever it rains

Could easily add Ricky Petterd and Frosty Miller.

And talking of history, yes we do have a very rich history with the Tigers. So this annual game could be the Checker Hughes Cup.  Particularly as the game was conceived to honour his distinguished war service and his role at both clubs:

    • A star midfielder for Richmond in three successive Grand Finals, including the 1920-21 triumphs
    • Hughes coached the Tigers into the finals in each of his six seasons, for five Grand Finals and one flag
    • He then took Melbourne to September seven times, culminating in six Grand Finals for four premierships and the first draw (against Essendon).

And, re named us from Fuschias to the Demons we are today.

To read more of his life and the ANZAC Eve dedication see this article.  It is a long read but really worth it.  http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-04-24/frank-checker-hughes-war-hero-and-giant-of-two-clubs

    Demon Royalty, right there.

20 plus Demon Premierships between them.  Oh, those were the days...

If our team on Tuesday can harness a fraction of the competitiveness and courage of those guys, we will win.

Thank fuching god we're now the Demons.

I love Gawny.  Very rarely does he wheel out the cliches or return to his 'safe topics' as most players do.  He has personality and isn't afraid to have a bit of a laugh.  I find it very refreshing.

In terms of leadership, I can't stress enough how much I think we are missing Viney.  Imagine we get a bit in front, then the other team kicks a couple of goals.  All of the opposition players would be very vocal, saying things like "we know they're soft boys, mentally weak". All opposition teams believe (and rightly so) they are never out of it when playing us.  At the moment, which of our players would you think would take exception to that and really take things up a notch?  Jones?  Maybe Oliver?  Now imagine Viney is in there.  For starters, I'm not sure many people would say anything like that within earshot of him, plus, comments like that are likely to make him go into kill mode.

We just need him back, soooo badly.  If he can get his foot right and get a decent run at it I think he'll get to a whole new level.

I dont know whats more worrying: Having Viney injured for first 8 rounds, or being so reliant on one players leadership to turn around our fortunes.

Either way, we're 2-2 so not much to turn around. Revisit this in a few weeks. I dont think Viney is a magic bullet. We will undoubtedly be far stronger with him in the team, but lets not pretend he doesnt have his own flaws and like Jonesy at times, has also failed to have a big influence in swinging momentum back or stemming the tide when the going gets tough. He's only in his second year as captain, so i just don't see his absence as the only issue standing in the way of us changing past habits.

A problem the coaching staff now face is that if it was say Frost they would put him back to the VFL to regain his confidence, as they did with Hunt. But dropping lever is problematical as it would point a huge mainstream and social media spotlight on him and might impact even more on his confidence. Imagine the social media jibes he would get playing at a wet and windy Casey fields.

Cant we give Keilty a go ahead of Frost? Frost from memory was recalled and dropped again soon after late last year. Playing dumb and not having this zone d down pat just seems like a reoccuring issue for him and he cant possibly be in our long term future plan.

Heard Dal Santo on MEN say yesterday that it was the first time the draft kid team beat an established VFL (North Reserves) side.

Dal Santo mentioned that there will be 10 bone-fide number 1 picks in the super-draft coming up.

Thats fine. But we should be asking how good pick 18 will be? Probably a talent that would be in the 10-16 range of our best in 3-4 years time. Big deal.
