As an educator I have no problem with the gap year. Actually i think it's an advantage because it does allow you to taste the real world, ie get a job, and have some fun without the pressure of uni. Now in the case of footballers they have enough to learn In their first year so I still have no problem with it. As for it only being part time, well, first year out a player has enough to chew on anyway. Case by case basis is of course the go, but in general I'm in favour. Wooo

The ump coaches have a lot to answer for. The umpires do their best but they are told garbage. Eg. Holding the ball. Last 3 weeks I've seen so many players pinged for going in hard and getting the ball, being tackled straight away with absolutely no chance of getting rid of the. Ball correctly. Why go and get the ball if you will just get done? This is not just sees games but lots of games I've seen. This isn't the umpires fault as they are clearly being told to do this.... Geish you have a lot to answer for.
