  1. In: Whelan, Spencer/Jamar Out: Jetta, Martin
  2. I'll miss him, and I'll find it difficult to cope, I reckon, if he goes to another club.
  3. I'm wondering whether we scrap the weighting system, and replace it with a different one next year. For example, you could take votes the same way as we currently do (5-4-3-2-1), still pick 3 sets of votes randomly, then add up each player's votes from each person and divide by 3. Keeps the votes tighter so that one player doesn't balloon out like Davey did this week as a result of a massive win. Anyone else think that's any good?
  4. Lloyd Richardson Grant Lucas Hall Tredrea Neitz O'Loughlin Robertson Rocca
  5. Really hope Whelan makes it for these last 2 games. Hopefully Watts comes back as well.
  6. Of course this is a good idea. It's a damn obvious thing to be testing. The fact this hasn't been tested is ridiculous.
  7. Oh please. You're upset about us losing to a team that had previously lost one match in the entire season? They were one of the best teams of the modern era. We were clearly the second best team that year.
  8. Why wouldn't that be the team that plays Round 1 2010?
  9. GF will be St Kilda v the winner of Geelong-Collingwood, which will be a ripping contest. St Kilda should win it.
  10. Unlike a lot of Demonlanders, I'm an Essendon fan (comes from having Essendon supporters in the family), and I was rapt to see them win yesterday. Mainly because they're the most deserving team of those vying for 8th spot. I'd cry if Hawthorn made it, Port Adelaide are a joke and should be in the bottom 4, and Sydney, while valiant, aren't good enough. It was a gripping match from the accounts of those who were there. To hold off the best team in the comp at a ground at which they haven't lost in 18 months, with no bench and a fully fit 22 opponents, is a remarkable achievement. Full credit to them for doing what no one else can, and I really hope they make the finals (and hopefully beat Carlton). In related news, this match made it the 4th consecutive week in which a match has been decided with a kick after the siren (Hawthorn-Geelong, Melbourne-Richmond, Essendon-Brisbane, Essendon-St Kilda). That's gotta be a record.
  11. 13,004 I wasn't too far off, for once.
  12. Bartram - never stops running Bate - very good game Cheney - hard at ball Davey - completely brilliant performance Dunn - better than usual Frawley - improved through game Jetta - not enough possessions Johnson - not abysmal, surprisingly Jones - showed some leadership Jurrah - is a star Martin - unfortunately did nothing McDonald - terrific captain's game McLean - impressive senior return McNamara - must keep playing Miller - better than Newton Moloney - not our best Morton - good in defence Petterd - OK but inconsistent Rivers - very pleasing game Robertson - not too bad Sylvia - underperformed yet again Valenti - another good game
  13. We're playing Carlton at Etihad and St Kilda. Shouldn't have trouble losing those.
  14. 6 - Davey 5 - Bate 4 - McDonald 3 - Jones 2 - Jurrah 1 - Valenti
  15. Well I got the lowest ever figure from stats.rleague.com, but that list only goes so far, so I can't find that out. I got the Haw/Port figure from a newspaper report that was written about our match v Adelaide earlier this year.
  16. OK. It's 11:26 and the rain has just stopped for the time being. It's still pretty abysmal out there. The lowest ever attendance at the MCG is 3,614, which was at a (you guessed it) Melbourne home game! Melbourne v Hawthorn, 1931. We couldn't possibly set a new record low. Could we? The lowest attendance in the past 10 years is 11,682, at Hawthorn v Port Adelaide in 2004. That may well come under threat today.
  17. Well this is interesting. Andy Murray, who has done diddly squat in Grand Slam tennis, will on Monday rise to number 2 on the World ranking list, in front of Nadal, by virtue of Nadal losing in the quarters of the Montreal tournament, and Murray making the final. http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,2...6-11088,00.html Once Nadal fully recovers from his injury I'm sure he'll rise back to 2 and maybe even back to 1 again, but it just goes to show that the ranking system is a little bit flawed.
  18. Weather update: 10:21: Still blowing a gale, but the sun is now out. That's Melbourne for you. If it stays like this then maybe we'll get more than 12,000.
  19. 12,292 Why is it always the case that Melbourne's home games are played in shocking weather (especially when we're playing an interstate team)? Yesterday was sunny and inviting, hence 60,000 people went to the footy. Edit: 9.38: Blowing a gale, bucketing down, not exactly warm. Brilliant.
  20. In other news, Richmond trails Collingwood by 70 at half time. Do Richmond have 10 untouchables? Cotchin. That's it.
  21. Agree with all that. But if McKinley was in the PSD, he could be a decent pick up.
  22. I would hope that next year we win 7-10 games. That means we should be making finals in 2011, which means the premiership window should be open from 2012. Let's not get greedy. A premiership is hard to come by, as we all know. One will do me fine.
  23. Absolute no to Seaby. In this day and age, giraffes like him are useless. Reilly is a good player. If he was available in the PSD I'd be happy to take him. I thought McKinley signed a contract last year? If he was available, again, only PSD. We must not trade picks this year (unless those picks are pick 70+).
  24. Of that lot, I'm happy we've got Grimes. He will end up equal or better than everyone else on that list. But Otten or Pears will come second.
