Enormous disappointment IMO. This is his sixth year on an AFL list and he still looks beanpole-esque. Mumford is having a big impact. 37 hit outs to 16 their way, plus he's laid 7 tackles to Spencer/Fitzpatrick's 3 combined.

Half time stats: Disposals: 178-183 Kick to handball ratio: GWS 107-71, Melbourne 93-90 Clearances: 31-16 Inside 50s: 24-18 Contested possessions: 70-76 Tackles: 57-36 So, we're again having more of the ball, but despite the conditions we're handballing plenty. Not sure how much of that is a lack of options up the ground, but it doesn't sound great to me. Got smashed in the clearances in that quarter after being relatively level at quarter time, but only conceded the one goal, which is a sign of their sloppiness as well as our defence playing well enough (Pedersen and McDonald are defending very nicely it seems). We might actually win. It's only 8 points and for various parts of the game we've been the better side.

I suppose he has been, but I just loved the description of the kick.
-
Description of Pedersen's most recent kick - 'nothing precise, just goes high'.
-
How many times have we kicked it out of bounds on the full? Just happened again, must be at least the fourth time (in a half of football).
-
Dunn! Goal! At least that 'record' is gone. 2.5.17 to 1.4.10.
-
We get the ball on the run outside 50, we had a great opportunity for a transition, but Evans gets the ball and, once again, turns it over, despite having options. Typical of our list. Evans, Terlich, M Jones, Pedersen, Grimes, McDonald. All playing backwards of centre, all can't kick. I'm guessing he wants them to learn not to waste the ball when going inside 50, so with no proper forwards there are so few chances for a meaningful entry.

The rain isn't helping either side, but when you have a makeshift forward line and already poor disposal, rain just kills anything you can develop from defence to attack. Last 10 minutes of play, inside 50s are 11-1. Apparently, we haven't had a goalless half since Round 5, 2009. Surprised by that tbh.

Goal to Patton. 2.4.16 to 0.4.4 We're also now getting smashed in the clearances, it's now 21-9.
-
Turnovers from both sides, GWS not exactly lighting it up, which is obviously keeping us in it. Vince takes the shot from 50, but not enough, and it's rushed through. 1.2.8 to 0.4.4. We've essentially done all the scoring for the last 20 minutes of play, for 4 behinds.
-
Again, Terlich gets the ball, again there is an immediate turnover. Radio makes it hard to work out who does what but I'm not kidding when I say that every time Terlich touches it we seem to turn it over straight away.
-
Third behind to us, a rushed behind after we couldn't convert what sounded like a two-on-one in our favour.
-
Quarter Time - GWS 1.2.8, MFC 0.2.2. 2 behinds, 2 scoring shots, and apparently we had the wind. Hopefully it's not that big of a breeze. Statistics (GWS-MFC): Disposals - 86-92 Clearances - 10-8 Inside 50s - 10-9 Contested possessions - 25-33 Tackles - 22-17
-
Every time Terlich, Evans or Pedersen seem to get the ball, we turn it over.
-
So far, at least, things seem even, or maybe tending slightly in our favour, around the ground, but we're just useless at generating scoring shots.
-
This is now 6 inside 50s in a row, but no goals.
-
Another free kick at the stoppage! Incredible!
-
It was 0-5 inside 50s, it's now 5-7. But we've only two behinds to show for it. Sounds like the umpiring is awful today.
-
Another turnover, this time to Evans. Sounds like he's working hard, but skills letting him down. Viney, Grimes and Kent haven't touched it (just one tackle between them overall).
-
Frawley had nothing open when looking inside 50. Last week he would have gone backwards, sideways. This week he went inside, which created a stoppage and that created Evans' shot. Wind seems to have wrecked Fitzpatrick's and Evans' shots at goal. They're saying we have the wind though.
-
Pedersen under absolutely no pressure after the free kick turns it straight over to Cameron, which leads to a Patton set shot. Patton misses, McDonald takes the kick, and turns it over straight away. Kennedy misses the shot. Two turnovers in two minutes, two scoring shots conceded.
-
Radio saying cut above the eye.
-
Howe is on Addison (or maybe vice versa). McDonald on Cameron.
-
Howe to the back line might be good for him, to learn accountability and to be on for 100% of the game.
-
I've heard Frawley forward, Howe back. Interesting.
