  1. It's from the FB page that throws up ridiculous stuff lifted from forums and 'trade radio'. It's not true.
  2. I'd sooner ask a Prep student than trust that FB page. It's a joke.
  3. So what gun outside runners do we have dazzle? I see Jones, Viney and Trengove as some good in and under types, but outside of Toumpas we have little of the players who are outside runners who have elite foot skills. We could use a few of those too, and I think there will be some good, inside mids around with our second round picks. And mongrel isn't just about going hard at the footy - Bartlett would be talking about their approach to the game, positive impact on our culture, setting standards etc.
  4. That's not what he said and you know it. Don't derail a thread with your personal vendetta.
  5. Exactly. Imagine if a supporter said Jones is our only good player and we should make a play with 'Pick 2 if necessary'. The whole board would go into meltdown. The gross over rating of our players and under rating of others is nothing new, it's just amplified at this time of the year.
  6. Why does it hurt? And poor analogy with Freo - Shuey is a proven player and a high level one at that. You've got to give a bit to get a bit.
  7. Who does he replace in a fit side though? Making him sound like a superstar but he isn't best 22.
  8. You've seen him play this year? I'll admit I'm assuming on your comment a little as all the talk this week has been about how good Kelly has been at the combine.
  9. This coming from the same person who said that they combine is virtually useless in another thread. You need to make up your mind.
  10. Agree 100%. The only stumbling block is finding a player the Eagles want to go with the Pick. They don't really need any talls, we have no midfielders to give them and they are pretty set down back as well. Unless they see some real potential in Blease or Strauss or someone like that then I think we'll find it tough. But you are spot on in that we need to stop the bleeding and be as active as we can while Roos is on board. If we can trade pick 2 for a great midfielder (whoever that is if it's not Shuey) and somehow stay inside the first round of the draft then it's a win for the club.
  11. True, although 12 months ago I'm sure they had plenty of cash. The fines wouldn't have hit as hard as it did for us - not in the short term anyway. Still plenty of water to go under the bridge though so they may well end up on that list as well.
  12. Interesting news WJ. Not surprised by the first part, very surprised by the second as we've heard nothing about it. Obviously a Dogs, Kangas or Saints would be the Vic clubs that come to mind. And in terms of us - no news is good news in this case.
  13. I think we'll struggle to get their first rounder back WJ unless we hand over a decent player ourselves. A Blease, Tapscott, Strauss etc type won't get it done and I'm not sure what else we would be happy to part with otherwise. If Sylvia was still under contract then I'd be happy to offer him to go with it but, obviously, we can't. I think Pick 2 and our third rounder for Shuey and their second rounder might be something that could get it done. Make no mistake though - we are in the box seat in terms of what we can offer the Eagles. The Pies may be more desirable but I think he is someone we can get over the line if he wants to come home and if the Eagles are willing to trade him.
  14. The bonus with Shuey is that he only has one year left on his contract and, according to the HUN, is 'warming' to the idea of coming back to Victoria. If, and it's a huge IF, that's true, then Pick 2 would look very attractive to the Eagles if they panic that they could lose him at the end of next season. Agree that we are no chance of getting Rockliff.
  15. If it was useless then why would they do it? Silly comment.
  16. Problem is Fitzy gets smashed in the ruck. He is athletic and has decent skills, and he is handy on the lead, but he isn't a ruckman's bum hole. Personally, I don't think he'll go anywhere (and I don't think he can having signed a new deal this year), but he is one of our expendable talls if we needed something extra to get an important deal over the line.
  17. Do you have any quotes to back this up? Either I've missed an interview about it or you're just making assumptions.
  18. Is there anything we could get from the Hawks that would be worth Pick 2, which they could hypothetically trade to the Weagles for someone like Darling? Purely hypothetical here, just thinking out loud.
  19. He is the 4th tall forward behind Clark, Dawes and Hogan, and the 4th ruckman behind Gawn, Spencer and Jamar. He is expendable. Savage would be very, very handy for our midfield. He certainly isn't a saviour but he is worth more to our team at the minute than Fitzy.
  20. True. Never said they would go for it, merely said I would trade Fitzy for Savage if that was ever a deal on the table.
  21. I'll be in the minority here but I'd trade Fitzy for Savage, although he is not a true ruckman like Longer or Hampson so I doubt the Hawks would go for it.
  22. Just reading the articles up on the HUN website and we are barely mentioned in any of them which I found interesting. It doesn't mean we aren't involved, but we clearly aren't major players. We aren't mentioned with Heath Shaw, they claim Shane Savage will go to either Carlton or Brisbane in a direct swap for a ruckman, we've spoken to Adams but he will choose either the Pies or Geelong, Jed Lamb and Travis Colyer will both re-sign at their respective clubs and so on. I know I may be pointing out the obvious and it's nothing new, and that we can't take everything we read at face value as I'm sure we are doing things behind the scenes, but we don't seem to be as active as us supporters may have hoped. One article does say that we have officially offered Pick 2 to the Lions for Tom Rockliff but they rejected it straight away. Anyway thought i'd just put in a small summary of the articles from the HUN today. While it doesn't mean things won't happen it certainly looks, at this stage, that things aren't necessarily going our way.
  23. Haven't heard that yet but it makes sense with Sydney getting Buddy and Freo in need of a key forward. If our pick 2 was involved to help facilitate a trade like that I'd be expecting something pretty bloody decent in return.
  24. Would be surprised if he moved to us. Always thought it was Carlton or back to WA for him.
  25. Give it time, the trade period is young. Someone on here will well and truly top that before the month is out.
