  1. The membership point is a good win - we might not have looked flash in winning, but it's a win and that is what everyone talks about. Can only be a good thing.
  2. Hey Steve, just because we see the outcome of the game in a different light doesn't mean we don't see the broader picture. Our skills were poor in windy conditions, we turned the ball over out of the back half and struggled at times to find a way past our half forward line. But once the players adjusted we saw what happened - we kicked away and made them look like a second rate side. It took probably 2 quarters too long to get there than most of us would have liked, but we got there. Our fitness is excellent and we stuck at it. As others have pointed out we got rolled in games like these in the past, but we found a way to win this time. 2 wins in a row is a positive for the team. In fact, wins are still a positive no matter how we get them. We aren't Hawthorn, nor are we a club like Sydney who could for years treat the NAB with almost contempt. We need every positive we can get, and a win is just that. We might not have looked good getting it, but we got it. Yes, we still have improvements to make and we still need to gel as a team with changes to the gameplan, but I'm confident we'll get there.
  3. We've had this discussion. Numerous times. Neither of us is going to change the other person's view, so it's a waste of time. And this is a thread about McDonald, not Garland. Plus, Roos has had a go at everyone. That's hardly compelling stuff.
  4. That makes no sense, but okay. This is a thread about McDonald. Not Garland. Both of them, to me, are the same player - excellent defensively but you don't want the ball in their hands. If you've got a problem with Garland and the decisions he makes, then you would have to feel the same way about McDonald as well.
  5. I seem to remember him turning threads into an opportunity for him to vent his hatred for Garland. Fast forward a few months and... surprise, oh sorry there's no surprise. Same goes for you and Grimes. Same old, same old.
  6. Very true. I mean it more in situations where there isn't much on. I don't mind them switching the ball or hitting up short targets without too much pressure. It's more when there really isn't anything else on that they should go long down the line and give us a 50/50 chance. This love affair with trying to create something out of nothing has to stop.
  7. Just listening to Goodwin's press conference - says Vanders should be right for next week and that Dunny had a bit of a groin injury as well but should be right to go as well. Good to hear that the injuries we received this week were only very minimal.
  8. It's one game. In early March. Don't get your knickers in a twist. I'm happy for Hunt and Wagner to get game time, but they've shown that they are still some way off the pace of AFL footy. They will continue to develop at Casey. Nothing wrong with that. Lumumba is ready to return and I have no doubt they'll slot him in across half back when the real stuff starts.
  9. He will be far better than both Hunt and Wagner for a start. Good to give them some game time but still a fair way off the pace. Lumumba will add run, good defensive capabilities and experience to that back 6, which is fine by me.
  10. I don't think that's the point though here Saty. The point is that, in 6 years, he is still making the same mistakes. His kicking is average at best and he needs to understand that. Rather than trying to be too cute or clever he just needs to get the ball forward to a contest. For example his kick, in the third term, where he was in the back pocket and he kicked it in to the middle of the ground where we had a 1 on 4 was just terrible. It resulted in a goal and you couldn't help but wonder what in the world he was thinking. His decision making is still poor as well - forget that it's NAB Challenge, the worrying aspect is that he is still doing the same things over and over again. Not to mention that he has put off contract talks which doesn't help either.
  11. One thing that really stood out was our fitness. In both games we've run them out really well and that bodes well for the season ahead. Oliver, Bugg and Kennedy have all been handy recruits and guys like Vince and Jones will be better for the run. Our turnovers still kill us and we had 50, yes 50, clangers, but I can't see us doing that when the real stuff begins.
  12. It's interesting that they've gone with Pedersen much more than Frost today. Could be telling for Round 1.
  13. It really has. It's like Beveridge has told them to hang back a bit, wait for us to turn it over and then flood forward when it happens.
  14. Another Tom McDonald turnover. He has had an absolute mare.
  15. Oh look, another goal from a turnover. We have been so, so lazy today.
  16. That was absolutely, god damn terrible. So [censored] lazy from Harmes. How many goals have we given them from turnovers?
  17. We still give away stupid free kicks. Learn how to tackle boys.
  18. Yelled out the same thing at the TV. Too inconsistent.
  19. Can someone kneecap Lin Jong please? The dud's got it on a string.
  20. It's not a fair point that we need to give Frost a little bit of time because he's missed a bucket load of footy? It's not fair to give him time to find his feet again and get going? Righto.
