  1. Firstly, a fair amount of posters called you out for the ridiculous point you tried to make, and the long bow you drew. You made the call, not me. Also, I don't assume everything is always rosy either, but why you would give air time to throwaway comments regarding division among the players when we have zero proof of anything like that going down, is totally irresponsible. It adds fuel to a fire that we don't need. It's like the McCartney comments above his movement from the box back to the bench - a few people make stuff up about a problem between him and Goodwin, which is based on nothing, and then you have the usual suspects running with it. That's exactly why the posters who made the comments re: division within the club are to be ignored. Their were no quotes, no articles, nothing. Yet there you are, giving it air time. Again, you're better than that. No doubt there are small spotfires here and there, as there would be in every club, but this is a bridge too far.
  2. That highlight makes me feel slightly ill @Rusty Nails...
  3. Are they also aware of how Gawn doesn't help out in a contest, even when he's 30 metres away? I can't believe you gave the comments you quoted air time. You're better than that.
  4. This Sunday at Etihad has the potential to be a horrible game to watch.
  5. So similar that it's almost hard to believe. I reckon he's a chance to get dropped this weekend. Stuff like that, especially done twice, is almost unforgivable.
  6. I slammed the remote on the ground when he did that. Anyone with half a brain cell could see the play was to ensure it went out of bounds to force the thrown in deep in the pocket. But no, instead of doing that he flings a boot at it under pressure only for it to go a few metres and end up out on the full. Couldn't believe he bothered and I can't imagine Goodwin would have been happy with it either.
  7. Great post big red, and the last part is the crucial point for all of us. Is Goodwin going to recognise that our current approach isn't working and do something about it, or will he stick with what we're doing and hope it turns around at some point in the coming weeks? We have some very winnable games coming up that would get our season well and truly back on track and that rests on what we do in terms of tweaking our gameplan in the coming weeks.
  8. Spot on? So you agree with his assertion that both Gawn and Hogan have been average? Goodness me. And, this is not directed at you, but all this talk of having no game plan is absolute rubbish. We clearly have one. It's just not working the way in which Goodwin and the players had hoped. So, they need to change it. But for people in this thread to suggest we lack a game plan is ridiculous.
  9. You need to post more often my friend. Well said.
  10. There's a few posters on here tonight who could use a good delisting.
  11. Unless joeboy doesn't live close enough to go to the games...? There are supporters who don't live within striking distance of the 'G.
  12. Can we fit Hogan, T Mac and Weideman in the same side? Or are we too top heavy, even factoring in Hogan playing further up the ground?
  13. I think the structure of our side is almost right. We miss Viney and T Mac, and our some of our fringe players are well down on confidence, but I like how we set up tonight. Weideman straightened us up, did some good things and wasn't disgraced when he pinch hitted in the ruck either. Lever played his best game for the club and linked up well with O Mac, while Jetta and Hibberd looked much better as well. Add in two of our leaders and get our confidence back up and we're back in the season. However, that's going to take some tweaking of the game plan and some hard work over the next few rounds for that to happen.
  14. This was it in a nutshell for me tonight, Pates. The first quarter was symbolic of how we've been so far this year - lots of play, plenty of inside 50s and not enough to show for it. It effects the players when they work so hard for so little, only to see the ball fly down the other end for a cheap, soccer off the ground style goal. It infuriates us as supporters so you can only imagine how deflating it can. Great post, Ralphy. @bing181 made a ripper as well. Better effort tonight against probably the best side in the comp right now, but some of our issues still remain. The one thing for me is that I feel much better about our future tonight than I did last weekend. The Tigers are a great side and we're a decent side down on confidence and missing two very key players. Hopefully we can turn it around next weekend.
  15. Put aside the last 15 minutes. We ran out of juice, the Tigers are reigning premiers and they got some cheap goals. It wasn't similar at all to last weekend. But, there were some key moments tonight that contributed to the loss, and they were moments we are having too often to be a consistent side. The first one is our forward line and not taking our chances. In the third term especially we dominated for a large period and, while we did kick a few, it should have been more. We fluffed some chances, Hogan hits the post... we just couldn't put our domination on the scoreboard. They go down, get a cheap goal and it really hurts. The goal at the end of the third term was the one that hurt us the most - Lloyd getting a cheap goal out the back took their lead above 3 goals and we had nothing to show for our efforts. The second is the little things - too many people up in the contest, two players going for the same ground ball, fumbling in key areas, missing simple targets and so on. We do them too often. To be a top class side you need to pick the damn thing up, then spread and support. We CAN do it, we just don't do it often enough. It's our 'bottom six' that do it the most - ANB, Harmes, Wagner etc. They just don't do things first time. I don't think the scoreline reflects the effort we put in and the pressure we were able to apply. It's a shame, but switch off against a good side and that's what happens. On the positive side, I thought Gawn was immense, Hogan had another great night, Weideman showed some promising signs before fading (he did well in the ruck, too), Melksham kicked 4 and did a great defensive job on Rance, while guys like Salem, Oliver and Trac tried hard but didn't get enough support. I also thought O Mac and Lever played their best game together. I think Goodwin tried a few different things but, in the end, it wasn't enough and we fell back into the bad habits that are costing us games of footy. Until we eradicate those then we can't move forward. I think we can beat the Bombers at Etihad and I think we'll enjoy playing in conditions that aren't condusive to fumbling. We've played the Lions, Hawks and now Tigers in slippery conditions and struggled with it in two of them. I'll be interested to see how we go without it next week. Keep your chin up if you can, everyone. I think we can still improve from here and become the side we all want it to be. There is just lots of work ahead for the club to do.
  16. What does that have to do with it, other than clutching at straws? 2 goals, 22 disposals and 9 marks to this point. That's a terrific game by anybodies standards.
  17. Also, am I the only one who hates Cameron Ling in the commentary box? Talks absolute drivel.
  18. What? Jesus Norm, what a shocker of a post.
  19. Aaaaaaaaaand game over. They get some lucky goals, though. We make it look so hard, they snap them out of a pack from 40 metres.
  20. Surprised Hibberd didn't die then. Ripping courage. First goal there was crucial. Next one would be great too!
  21. This is going to sound strange, but if we were just a goal closer I'd be far more confident going in to the last term. As I see it we're still giving up too many easy goals and, even if we get it close, they'll find a way to soccer one from the square and keep it at arms length. We were much, much better that term though. The Tigers aren't invincible. With some luck we CAN win, but we'll need luck in spades. We're still too fumbly and too prone to falling over under pressure (cough Hunt cough) but gee we're having a dip. Hopefully we have enough left in the tank to give this a real shake.
  22. Because he's a mother.
  23. They are SO quick to ping us. They get an age, we get a second.
  24. Love your work Milkshake! Ripping kick from Trac, one of the only players who could kick it that far off a few steps!
