Goal to Jones, but we made very hard work of it.

We should be. Kicking for goal has let us down big time. Everything else has been pretty good.

The inclusion of some quick, small forwards hasn't exactly paid off yet either.

It also wasn't hard for him to hit ANB on the chest from 20 metres away either. But yes, he should also have Hogan leading at him in that situation as well.

ANB is the luckiest player ever and he better kick this goal. He had a player running on the outside, ignored it and then got tackled. Thankfully Razor is on hand to look after him. Dumb play.... and he missed the goal as well. Jesus.

That contest annoyed me no end as four... FOUR... players went up against one Freo player, while their smalls almost swooped on the spillage. Thank goodness for the siren.

Goal kicking aside, that was a relatively positive first term. I think what stood out was the pressure. Apart from their first goal we worked much better as a defensive unit and stifled any run that players like the Hill brothers, Walters, Matera etc could give them. Hogan had a ripper first term, Trac worked hard and Stretch has really given us something on a wing. No doubt our goal kicking needs to see some major improvement for the rest of the evening, but other than that it's been pretty good so far.

Not making excuses, just pointing out it's a bad example. If they were playing at another oval in Darwin then you would have a point.

How many of you thought he would miss? The positive is the tackling and pressure from Trac, he just needs to kick those goals.

A small positive there was Petracca - he got back to spoil that ball in defensive 50 and then affected the tackle to get it out of bounds. Good to see that defensive effort from him.

One goal isn't panic stations yet, ladies and germs. We've missed our shots, but the positive is we're getting them, unlike other games.

Third time lucky for Jesse. His fourth mark already. Already feels like the balance of our side is good tonight.

@stevethemanjordan - Tyson was pretty good today, all things considered. He still made some errors but those could be forgiven in the atrocious conditions. Everyone made them. He worked pretty hard both ways and, for VFL, made himself look a cut above. However, that doesn't necessarily change his standing in our side, nor do I think it warrants an immediate recall to the seniors. He had a good, Tyson like game in a position where he feels comfortable - at the feet of King and Filipovic.

Only you could turn something about Carlton going the tank for the first pick in the draft to knocking how many flags we haven't won in the modern era. You truly are the king of turning any topic into something you can rubbish the club about. Well done.

If you're saying it's a rubbish deal because of Josh Kelly then remember that Roos said we would have taken Jack Billings anyway. As a side note, I hope your username is something we're all saying later on this evening.

Kade Simpson is already a late withdrawal. They're not even trying to hide it.

While I'd happily take a look at Cerra, I think it sucks a bit for Freo that there are already whispers of him wanting to come back to Victoria before he's even completed a season over there. I think draftees should sign a minimum 3 year contract and be made to stick it out over that period, as Freo will have wasted a high pick and development time on someone who already wants out.

It's only a lose-lose game for those who want it to be that way. For me, I'll be happy with a win to help kick start our season again. I still firmly believe that our best footy can match it with any team in the league (with the exception possibly being the Tigers at the MCG) and we have plenty of time to correct the mistakes we've been making and right the ship. We can do that with a win tonight and I see that as a positive thing, regardless of how it is achieved.

And, pray tell, who are these 'fast' players we should have drafted instead? Please provide examples.
