He looks to be playing sore and is out of form. Still, I'm backing him in to find that form over the last 4 rounds of the season. Nobody goes through their career playing in sparkling form. Players struggle with it from time to time, and Jesse is having one of those periods. He is more than good enough to work his way out of it.

As long as you mention the 11 shots we had in the third and that our backline, before the rain hit, completely nullified their much vaunted tall forwards.
-
We are currently fifth on the ladder, pending the Port game tomorrow, where I'd love to see a Dogs miracle that keeps us there at the end of the round.

If you watch that clip, ANB is at that stoppage when Oliver kicks it forward. By the time Petracca gets his hands on the ball he has busted a gut to run forward at the death, beat everyone there and kick the sealer. His running isn't for nothing.

1998 I believe. Or 1999. I can't remember. Either way it's been a while!

Also, James Harmes, with a broken hand, still had 23 touches and 8 tackles and still curbed Rory Sloane's influence for most of the night. He is really becoming a good, consistent player through the midfield for us.

The bolded part is a great point, LH. Not only did we have some walking wounded (I'd add Oliver but it didn't seem to worry him much!), but we are still missing Viney, Hibberd and Lever, three crucial players to our side. It's a mammoth effort and I echo how proud I am of the team.

Don't be like that, Jaded! You can't tell me you didn't fire up when Nibbler kicked that sealer at the end. I won't dispute your point above, but that's for later on. Enjoy a win in enemy territory that keeps our season well and truly alive!!!

Is Bernie allowed to smile now?

I don't even care right now that we struggled mightily in the last term. With the rain tumbling down we handled it better and held on to record such an important win for our season. I think we showed better maturity, although of course we still need to improve it. But that will come with experience. I'm just so damn stoked with that win. We bloody deserved it!

22 touches, 12 tackles and the sealer. Not your best work dazzle, although we can claim you went the 'reverse psychology' route and it worked like a charm!

We [censored] did it everyone! I love this club. I love everyone who posts here. I'd even give SWYL and Saty a hug right now. When Nibbler sealed it I reckon the whole street heard me get off the couch a fist pump like a madman! DEMONS!!! DEMONS!!! DEMONS!!!!!!!!

Swans look terrible at the moment. So slow with their ball movement and they have nothing up forward. Their backline is keeping them in it.

And that's being complimentary.

It was an absolute shocker. One of the worst I've seen this year. Bomber fans can't complain too much outside of that. They're leading the free kick count 8-3 at the moment.

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 19
Wiseblood replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Good post. I'm always of the belief that you can be critical of their footballing ability in a constructive manner without playing the man. As supporters, players would expect criticism to come their way, but there are some who go way too far with it. That's the social media age for you. Tell these parents to stay out of the game day thread, though. Some posters only pop up in that one once a week to get stuck in to any player they can get their hands on. They aren't real supporters, though, so their opinion isn't worth the keyboard it was typed out on. -
A dream I had last night... ya big weirdo

Who do we realistically target for a trade?

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 19
Wiseblood replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
The one positive in his corner is that he now has three games under his belt and is, from all reports, running out those games really well. I think if he does get the call up that he can contribute well and not struggle after missing so much time. -
MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 19
Wiseblood replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I know this is slightly off topic, but the inclusion of Vanders after so long out, when others like Bugg or even Kent are available, doesn't bode well for their chances of securing a contract past this season. The writing might already be on the wall for a few. -

It's my pleasure in keeping you alive my friend. I can't see, even in a mad killing spree, that I'd have reason to bump you off. A few questions: Did I kill any posters from this board? Was your wife jealous that you were dreaming about me and not her? I don't know whether to be weirded out or take this as some form of compliment, ha ha! -
MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 19
Wiseblood replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
In amongst all the discussion from this week, this bolded part shouldn't be forgotten. We played some ripping footy on Saturday night and I'm backing this 22 in to do it again. Obviously Harmes is the doubtful one and Vanders is there to take his spot if he doesn't get up. What a story for AVB if he gets the nod after everything he's been through! -
Congrats, Dom. There are plenty of players who don't make the 100 game milestone, so he's done super well to get there and deserves the recognition. He has a big chance in the coming weeks to help shape our destiny in terms of making the finals. When in form, he can be terrific around the stoppages and it's something we will miss with Viney gone. He can support Gus and Clarrie in there and allow us to keep up our good numbers in clearances and contested possessions. I'm backing him to really give us something over the next month or so.

You don't dangle 23 year old key forwards on the market. Josh Mahoney isn't a fool.

Nothing, as he's not on it.
