So you think hes the new whipping boy? Watts was a lot younger and the number one draft pick where Dawes is 28 and was solid forward for a premiership side. Don't see the similarities myself.

We gave him a 2 million contract 4 years ago. Should we resign him? Have we? Will we? I hope we can trade him for someone but not sure if he is worth that much. The guy competes and tackles I have no doubt about it but cannot hold marks and rarely kicks goals. Keep as emergency perhaps? Even Dunn would be a better 3rd forward than Dawes.

It is interesting that many of us thought we would win today. I thought we would. Despite the bitterness of losing we are clearly a much improved team. Interestingly, It is because of this improvement that we are all so frustrated. We went close to beating a top side today. We are at a level now we we are tantelisingly good enough to compete with top teams but not good enough to win. 4 years ago we would have been thumped and all agreed about how [censored] we are. Now however because we can almost beat good sides we are probably more frustrated. At least now we can compete and see the areas we need to address like 2 more decent defenders. one more good midfield and a 3rd fwd/ruck

Dawes does compete and throws his 105 kg around but he cant mark or kick goals. He just isnt that skilled. He was great in Collingwood as a second to Cloke in a team that provided much delivery but he is a shadow of that player today. Maybe its confidence but we wont win games with him in our forward line. A third forward tall is desperately needed. Peferably one that can ruck

I think stretch will be a great player the years ahead VDB time for the 2s no doubt about ti. Love his effort but decision making poor. Omac I get hes in development but its nice to win games. Hes not ready yet.

Well that was one of the most frustrating games of the year. We played some breath taking great football and some incredibly shocking. Once again our backline left wanting but we all know that and it can only improve. Midfield caught napping 3rd qrt and the crows to their credit made us pay. If Dawes and kent could trouble the scoreboard more (or some in Dawes case) and help Hogan Watts and Garlett we would be a contender but it seems a big if. We need more consitency from layers and today highlighted our up and down year. AVB seems to have lost much form and kennedy as well. O mac still a year away. Crows are a bloody good side though.

Gawn was good, the others ill give you. M jones was good first and second but went to sleep thereafter.

Dawes has now played 4 games this year and kicked ONE goal. On that basis if he played a full season he will tally a grand total of 6 a full year. That is really poor. All the Dawes lovers will scream but the guy isnt a forward anymore and cannot mark.

I dont know why I actually thought we could win this. I suppose all things considered we have done ok against a top 8 side. The afl is by no means even this year. Maybe in the 8 but the difference bw the 8 and the the 4 below is night and day. Once we get a back line that doesnt keep stuffing up and a proper third tall in place of Dawes we will be better. Dont know why everyone raves about Dawes. He is a has been. great effort from the captain today.
