Must have had a long extension cord back then.

After Tmac's recent reincarnation, I slightly more disposed to not writing off anyone. Maybe Bbb still has some great footy left in him like Tmac has been showcasing of late .

Changes to “Holding the Ball” Rule
leave it to deever replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I just wish they would stop changing the rule 20 times per game and especially when Clarrie gets the ball. -
Love the guy in the middle with red shirt stealing a kiss while everyone's distracted. Thought I had that move patented.
-
Doesn't add up. I mean it's not like pies fans are computer literate.

I wish there was some way to ensure only fans from teams playing are able to attend games. ( Especially grand finals). Perhaps show their membership. Also there are too many areas taken up by corporate boxes IMHO. I'm certainly no socialist but when it comes to Afl...it should be available to the man. And get rid of ticketfek. And those outrageous beer prices. Sheesh. A man ( or woman Stan) should be allowed to drink at his preferred sport without having to check his mortgage status. End of rant. Thanks.

Yea, I think your right on this.
-
My thoughts exactly. Even if it's for half a game. Worth a shot surely. And it's not like Petty can't go into the backline for that half. Could be a win..win.
-
I really hope every Melbourne supporter and their dog can get to this game so as to boo that dog that so deserves it. I don't advocate for violence on the field but I'd be more than happy to see players use all their strength within the rules and laws of the game to remind a certain someone that he unfairly robbed us of a flag as well as destroying a good and decent player's career. A few touted the idea of fans wearing imitation Gus helmets which I reckon is a cracker of an idea. I'm expecting fireworks and a big win would probably be the best statement we could make.

Goody rarely makes changes after a good win or at least to the barest minimum. And it was a good win. Sure it was scrappy but we really walloped them in the second half and if not for the junk goals in the last would have been a ten goal win. All this after two losses, the last one being very embarrassing. So kudos for the fightback and especially getting back into the top four. Ideally we could be sitting second had we not been so flat footed in the Carlton first quarter and goodness knows what happened v the eagles. Maybe we should have got to Perth sooner. Who knows. So the only likely change is Petty from possible injury. Who would replace him though. McAdam will stay for the same reason. We don't have too many choices. The only likely change is Fullarton for an injured Petty and I'd suggest resting the Duke. Maybe revisit the Kolt. Or give Woey the role and have the Kolt as sub? I know we kicked 100 points v st Kilda but I still worry about our fwd line. How is Disco travelling...is he still injured? I wouldn't mind seeing him given another chance up fwd.

I feel after watching the Saints game that Tmac seems to have gained a few metres in pace of late. He took some great intercept marks and I know he's stated he can't play up fwd anymore....on his recent form it would be exciting to see him there again. Alas that's not going to happen which means it's him, Maysie and Lever in our backline. That means no Tommo and Petty still fwd. Could we trial Tommo as a sub fwd like we used to with Smith or is this too risky? Is there any possibility of pinch switching May and Petty fwd and back on occasion? Or is that too far left field. Perhaps Petty will finally find his feet up fwd so to speak and this is all a moot discussion. I do think Petts does well in restricting Oppo players from at least marking and his limited ruck work has been good. I think I just feel for Tommo who when he is called upon does incredibly well especially after the length of time he has been absent from the team. As others have pointed out he probably isn't quick enough to be a fwd. Bit props to him for his great effort v the Saints.

As great as a player as Tracca is, I have noticed quite consistently that he is a slow starter. I think it's his fitness and endurance that make him dominate second halves much more than his firsts. Perhaps he wears tags or opponents out. But so often he will amass many more of his disposals in the second half of games. Maybe there's a connection.
-
I guess ideally we find another gun mid and play Tracca fwd all day and most of our problems are solved.

Thanks Jnm. I would love to see him playing more games like he did against Geelong. Recovery from injury would certainly account for some low games. I guess he in an ideal world he should be coming back via the twos where he could be managed better and perhaps have less risk of further injury. I do feel that his lack of goal scoring and marks inside fifty seem to almost have is a player down but perhaps we have no choice. That's where this topic comes from though. Given his present form, I don't really feel we have much to lose trialling someone else. Even May when Lever gets back. I really want to keep Tmac down back because as we saw yesterday he played very well . But the same applies to poor Tommo. I'm not sure if I've seen him play since after he played a blinder last year and was dropped. The bloke comes in 12 months later and was one of our best. I don't want to see him languishing at Casey anymore. I know that's footy but are there any permutations that you could think of to see him playing and our fwd line revamped by someone? We now have five very good tall defenders. Acknowledgement of Tmac not changing, is there anything that can be done?

Petty has played nine games this year. He really has only impacted one game and that was against Geelong. His marking prowess in that game was fantastic. He was that connection at chf we desperately need. Alas it has not been seen in other games. It may not sound like it but I'm a big Petty afficiando. But he's either injured or just not really a fwd. Hard to ascertain if his cats performance was a one off. Nine games is a fair chunk of a season. If he continues taking a couple of marks and kicking one goal every four games , then I think Goody's hand will be forced to play him down back. But who goes out? Not Tmac. Not Lever. Not May. And now Tommo has put his hand up saying, I'm a good defender as well. So, it will be interesting to see where he fits in. I don't want to trade him. Unless it's a great deal. Unlike the others mentioned Petts is much younger. But I'm fairly convinced at this point that he's much much better playing in our backline. Ive floated the Tommo fwd idea as he's too good for Casey and a big strong player with a big body . And he comes in after a year of being unceremoniously dropped and kills ot. Tommo is a big player. Something we have been lacking. We used to have Tmac and Hogan but now we have Petty and Roo. Both aren't big bodies yet. Roo will fill out and I believe will have a big future as a fwd at our club. I love his persistence and pressure acts. Petty is very athletic but not really a brute. We have agility in Jvr and Fritta but I'd love a big body fwd who defenders would struggle to move out the way. Maybe it's not Tommo but how do you know without trying. I mean if Goody can continue with Petts for so long with a return of only two goals , I feel like there's not really much to lose. Just saying.

Tbh I'd prefer he ( Tmac) stay put. He's been very good in his old role. But we need some more scoring power. I know we kicked 100 again but it was just St Kilda.
-
Fair call. More than happy to see him continue down back but from past experience I feel he will be eventually squeezed out again for Lever. He's a quality player who gives his all when required. Im just thinking since Petty isn't really dominating up fwd than this could be a future possibility. I'd be happy to trial Tmac up fwd again or anyone. With two goals from nine games now, it's becoming clear that Petty is not a fwd and bbb is cooked.
-
Beg to differ. It puts us not just back in the eight but top four again. Had we lost it would be a disaster. Scrappy at times but if we had not conceded junk time goals in the end it would have been a drubbing.
-
Jimmy Stynes would go close as would Jeff White. We have been lucky. But Max is one of the all time greats of the game.
-
Love Petty too but two goals from nine games is just simply not enough. It's playing with one tall short so to speak.

My 3 word player analysis V StKilda
leave it to deever replied to joeboy's topic in Melbourne Demons
Well done Jb. -
Tmac was moving like his old self again today. I would love to see him fwd again so that works for me. But I feel Tommo could not do any worse than Petty. Much so. A case of Not losing anything trying.
-
Petty is struggling there. Tmac is dominating down back. Does anyone think it's worth a shot maybe when Lever is back or Petty moved back? Tommo is a strong mark in a pack. What we could use perhaps.
-
Makes sense. I thought he was younger. Tx. Good to see all the dads with the little ones.

How old is Max jnr? He looks pretty big already.
