I think at present Bbb is a better player but its line ball. Since sw is young, then long term sw is the one we want playing.
-
I dont think of Tmac as our best forward. I see him as a great utility player. How do we know bbb or sw wont be as good? And having him on the wing can allow all three quality players to be present. Agreed its been working the way it is but it may just work better.
-
Yea Tmac has been awesome up forward. Why wouldnt he be awesome on the wing and allowing Gus to do what he does better. And so it allows for bb and sw to play. Just because its different doesnt mean its a bad idea. Surely if allows both sw and bb a rlle it has some merit.
-
Tlit wouldnt be ideal but certainly Tmac could maybe not as well but hed go very close. Hate to lose him from up fwd but its good to have options and its not like we dont have other fwds.
-
I know I just dont want to lose sw or bbb and how do we know Tmac is our best without trialling someone else. What we do know of all three Tmac is the one who can play up the ground.
-
Surely after last game bbb goes before sw. I cant see them playing all of them unless we lose another tall defender and Tmac goes back which Goody said wont happen. He also said that Sams future is secure at the Mfc. Barring injuries Im not sure most of us can understand how it all pans out. Tmac is one of thee best forwards going about at the minute but I must say the times he has dropped back in defence he has been just as good and reminded us how good he used to be in that role. Just maybe given Tommy has lost weight and gained speed it might.... just might I say be worth a trial with Tom on the wing. At least then we can see of they all fit and work. Thats all. Just maybe.?

Plus the strange but always true law of inverse coaches that dictates clubs rebound in the first couple of games after a new coach has been appointed. Its similiar to the strange reversal in form of players who come up against the club that gave them the flick. Oh the mysteries of Australian rules footy. Ps I do hope the wheels fall off after Queenies party game which will reveal the 100 point thumping by us that we have been waiting for.

I know where you are coming from and a prelim would be great. However you might as well just aim for a flag and another one for next year. A week is a long time in footy little lone a season. And a prelim is so close to a gf. Its like saying if we get to a gf and lose we will win one next year. Last time we graduated to a prelim it didnt really work for us the following season. Just saying. -
Hes probably working on a new cape.

So its you mr woo hooo.

I get the boys doing it. All the excitement and release. But I also get the immature aspect. As for Tracs effort ...yes thats the story there.. captain to be.
-
No I must say Ive never had the pleasure. Ive heard that most of them are out on day release. So I guess I should be more generous to the crows mob. Nah I cant. Perpetual booers. Drives me bonkers when they boo every shot on goal. I know its not cricket but sheesh. I remember those safari suits. My dad wore one for several years(i think it was the same one) In my role as family clown I wouud quip as he walked out the front door.. "Dad be careful its a jungle out there" He never appreciated it.

Watching the replay tonight was quite interesting. Despite their ladder ranking, carlton played very well. Great tackling pressure. They have some very good players who we did well to nullify most of the time. Bbb and sam w both triwd very hard and could both be seen at both ends of the ground. Sam was clearly the better of the two as bb had little impact. Sam w did get pushed off the ball a few times for his size but his intent was very strong. Our defence is awesome. Rivers for his age will be a great defender for this club and despite the penalty he gave away was fantastic. Lever is like Jackson and mobile for his size. May is so strong. Langdon popped up so many times for the handball receive out of the pack. Tmac had a few cameos down back and was back to his defending best. He is so cool and collected as is Salem. Hibberd came into the side late but is back to his best and has totally shut down key players. He doesnt seem to have lost any pace and is reading the play beautifully. Suffice to say if our forward line becomes as good as scoring as our backline is at stopping it then people will really start to worry about our claim for a flag. Likewise with our early centre xlook earances of late. We seem to give up a few too many in the first 15 minutes but we always regroup. And thanks to our backline it has really hurt. The rebound out usually brings sn inside fifty. Jordan is improving each week and Olivers second half was sublime. Trac has been good but I hope he gets back to the form he showed against tigers. He did have a nasty corky. Kozzie was not at his best bit the bloke gives his all. Despite this he had one special goal and almost another. Harmes solid again for a bloke thats played a few. Could polish his disposal but his tackling is high and they are vineyesque(hard to shake). Up fwd it was a little helter skelter at times but should have been expected. Tmac..what can you say? Spargos forward pressure was relentless. Anb after two poor games really lifted and added nicely to the scoreboard which is what hes there for. Fritta was quiet but interesting enough with his limited touches was deadly with three goals. Gawn was solid doing most of the work himself. Gus made some early clangers but put in a good all round performance. We missed a few close shots at goal....three or four coold have easily been goals and Kozzie to his credit dobbed himself in with touched ball. Oh the integrity. Conversely carlton got lucky with the same ammount of snaps. So I think we could have conservatively won by another four goals. The only downside outside of umpiring was not kicking a goal in the last fifteen minutes. I do believe we put the breaks on slightly but maybe sometimes its not slways about % . The biggest upsides was one....a more even performance by many instead of relying on four or five. And two.. the way we keep running home with the wind in our sails. So lets reset. Focus on just the next game and if we win it we...we can start counting again... ten zip? Then we will be ready for the gf precursor maybe ...Dees to burn dogs.

Couldnt agree more. We have been caught out in a few games with slow starts and also havent kicked a winning score more in keeping with the fwd firepower we have. But the structure there needs to work itself out. Also a few changes in the last four games with Tomlinson...Viney and Jackson taken out and other players getting used to things.Others have been moved for form in Jones Jetta and Jake m. I dont think the backline could do a better drop stopping teams scoring so its up to the mids and forwards to lift to new levels. I do think we played incredible footy against the tigers and giants. So things will settle and gel and bang .... I really do believe we are capable of blowing a few sides away. We will need drier conditions but its going to happen very soon. -
Sadly for me I remember 2000 all too vividly. The build up to it was great. Sw won the Brownlow and everything looked rosey. The game was frenetic and we lasted about 15 mins before being blown away. We came up against the most incredible bombers team ever. The only positive was I couldnt get tickets. I want a flag so bad. In fact I want FIVE just to make up for the misery.

How tough and gutsy to return so quick after that knock. A true leader in the club.
-
Thanks for reminding me. We have done well there but not so much prior to 2017. This team is playing better than that one so while Im confident I still thinks it a tough game. One its Adelaide not Tasmania ...big crowd. Two..we are being hunted now especially by lower clubs that desperately need a scalp. I hate crows crowds.
-
Thats what I thought too. (Weid...given bbb was bought in before him) I reckon it will be Weid which makes me wonder why Goody was so sure of his future.

Viney on Brink of Surprise Return

My reasoning was the dogs is a massive game. If he has trouble with it in the dogs game in might not be so black and white. He may play the game without subbing out only at half his usual standard. As for fitness you are correct in that Jvs fitness is unique but I dont think any players is that high they can slot back in to the highest standard after a fair absence least not the dogs game. Anyway having said my two cents I do hope hes good to go even against the crows. The club will make the right call. We have missed him. -
He seem very confident but who comes out for Jackson in a couple of weeks?

Common sense dictates that your response is correct. Thinking of the big picture. As good as he is, hes also been out for a while and back into the highest level would not be wise. -
Yep its always hard work playing over there despite respective form. The supporters are absolutely full on and umpires are often swayed. It will be a tough game, no doubt about it but we are up to it and will get the job done. I hope Jack is back in.

Three months ago I was guilty of speculating how many losses it would take before the media started calling for his scalp. Personally I think I qanted someone more like Ports coach. A bit of fire in the belly who would go out and blast a few players. Goody is clearly very diffferent and his learnings wasnt just media speak. He obviously has been building wisdom and skills. He has placed a good group of other coaches and staff around him and its falling into place.
