I always thought the term maggot was a long part of the afl tradition. An inseparable part of its vernacular like Jezza you beauty. I won't be taking a good hard look at myself and will continue to use the word because it beats jumping the fence and confronting them. Of course there are limits but footy is the greatest stress relief for many and if calling someone a maggot when they can't even hear it, helps my mental health, then I am going for it. I'm sure maggots are not offended if they were called oh umpire.

Why can't they have a 25 m penalty as well? No all abuse or infractions are the same.

According to the new Afl abuse rules, I've that heard soon fans who endearingly refer to the umpires as maggots will face stiff new penalties.

Didnt see it all but I give Carlton their dues. Our minds and wings were lose for a fair while. Lots of fumbles. Our backline looked like swiss cheese at times. Thought young Bowey was good though.
