  1. I don't think it is and I don't think the rules have changed. If you feign a handball it should still be ok and not play on. One thing that irked me was twice I think the umps seem to force us to take the advantage which wasn't there.
  2. Is it possible to have Max play forward for a whole game and put Petty back where he belongs? Max could still do some rucking in the forward 50 and take a bag of marks inside it as well. And Grundy does seem better at palming the ball to our players.
  3. As ironic as Dermies comment is, I'd actually take him back at the minute for our fwd line issues but only short term.
  4. Looking forward to Swans v Pies. I feel an upset at the G. DISCLAIMER....I Thought we'd win by ten goals last night so.....gamble responsibly.
  5. I wish that were the case but the truth is that we are lacking in options from injury and form. It would have been great if Petty shone in his new role. I know he takes a good defender but has struggled with contested marking and I'm guessing has only kicked around 3 goals. So not great. Schache didnt look too hot against North and both Tmac and Bbb have been fighting injuries. The former has a new issue but even when in the side looked slow and lacked intensity. When Bbb arrived at the club not so long ago, we were all scratching our heads how to accommodate our talent. Now it seems we are lacking talls and that we are robbing our backline. It not only hasn't worked it's left our defence vulnerable. Fingers are crossed that either Bbb or Tmac make their way back in tge seniors and play some good footy alongside Jvr. And Petty plays his great role in defence.
  6. I think Grundy often finds our players with very accurate tapping. It's what sets him apart.
  7. Yea, I've been going through the fixture and 16 means we can only really only lose one game at the G...maybe Pies or Lions. Lose to only one of those is 8 wins at home plus 8 points from gws @ TIO and North @ bludstone. It allows for Port beating us in Adelaide, Saints at Marvel, Cats beating us in Geelong and Swans in Sydney. But as the old footy cliche goes.....One week at a time.
  8. I love your optimism. How many wins for home finals is a better question. Yea, I hope we do crack 16 but my biggest concern is injuries. 21 was a dream run in this area. This year hasn't been great so a lot of luck is still needed. 16 will definitely see us in top 4. I'm not too confident we will get that number though . I think maybe 14 or 15 tops. But I reckon the way the comp is that will still be top 4. I am also interested about what other teams will need too.
  9. I do know that the commentators were openly supporting Gcs. It was very annoying.
  10. Fair point. I think we had about 7 good players and 5 average performances by another 5. Gcs are a good side. They way outmarked us and we looked exposed down back quite often. I really wish Petty could return there. I think our tackling pressure was very good and forced Gcs to make some poor choices at times. Its hard to say if we played poor or they played well. I hope its a little from each column. Both our back and fwd lines have been a work in progress this year and last night reflected this. I know I looked at Gcs form and expected a 7 goal win. I mean that's what a flag contender should do to a nascent club like gcs. But the competition is much tighter this season and we are a team that is still experimenting with their structure. I also think the fact that we have been to SA, WA and Qld twice out of our 8 games takes somewhat of a toll on the players.
  11. Interesting summary and perspective of the game from Gus in post match interview. I think he may have downed a few energy drinks though.
  12. Very good post. Petty has been wonderful down back and it's a clear case of robbing Peter....... jut hope Bbb comes back in and plays well. Maybe gcs are a better side than most of thought.
  13. I don't even know what we are talking about but I think I once read that 9 out 10 people who back up their arguments with statistics are totally wrong at least 99% of the time.
  14. Well at least we're back on song. Two things. One, when you said two smaller players I'm assuming your not counting Fritta because he's not seen as a small, yes even though he's shorter than bbb. Two, average of goals by games played? If I'm wrong I'd be happy to know.
  15. I recant the word coronation and insert vino.
  16. I'd argue quite confidently that the lions are as well. The cats don't worry us. We just text them a picture of Max b4 the game and it's all over these days.
  17. Nice pivot d3165 but they didn't take more marks which is what the discussion was about. Have a good night.
  18. Alright then. I'll say it. We haven't beaten anyone above us as yet.
  19. Agreed but I don't think it's going to be easy. The blues look less of a threat and we play them twice. North and hawks too. At stretch id say we get 15 or 16. But I reckon 14 and % is top 4 the way the season is.
  20. Yea but his contested marking was really good. He led up the ground more too. And a much better average than Petty.
  21. They pointed out he was looking at the ball. Some players have a feel for where it's going from a quick glance so one can't argue intent. I think it was high contact but totally unintentionally and hopefully a neck sprain.
  22. His contested marking in 21 was really good. Something he really worked on.
  23. It's been a huge factor that our two key talls in Tmac and Bbb have been missing for tge most part . They were a key element in us winning a flag. Take any clubs two best tall fwds out and they would struggle. In hindsight we've done well without them. I do believe however it showed tonight.
