Has he made it back?
-
Can't afford JV off the ball with Oliver out and Trac can't kick goals. Not sure we can cover Petty moving fwd although we certainly need another tall there.
-
I really don't understand Melksham instead of Jvr. Yes Milk may be a closer fit to Fritta but Jvr in the dry would be better.
-
The forward line has Bbb who has barely played. Spargo who was recently dropped. Anb who is out of form. Melksham who like Bbb has barely played and didn't do much last week. But for some strange reason I think we will win. Hard to be too excited though with our recent form and injuries. Wish Jvr was playing. At least it will be dry.

It's a fair call. Max is often a great barometer of a game. When he's doing ok to well, we often are. His season this year mirrors pretty much the teams. He missed a lot of footy with his injury but that's no longer an excuse. In any case we have had a lot of players play well below their best this year. Even with a suspect fwd line we still beat the pies. We have the ability and talent still. But we seem to lack the hunger at times. Oliver in and we may have quite easily had another two wins. Fritta out now is a huge loss. I don't think we will finish top four .

Not having a crack at you Bfa , but do we know for sure that this is even true?
-
I doubt it's true but if ai were Tommo, I reckon I'd be annoyed for being dropped.
-
While I don't agree with our selections, Im glad that Chandler was dropped .Kozzie should be on notice as well.
-
One of the biggest disappointments for me this year is the Grundy/ gawn combo. Both average just over half a goal a game.
-
Don't you remember that we tried the Petty experience playing forward? Unfortunately it finally worked so we had to move him back in defence and relegate an in form Tommo to the Magoo's.
-
Im not sure if Melksham is up to it. Played a two minute cameo in just over 3 quarters. Then wasn't really involved. Surely Jvr would have been a much better inclusion. I get Smith didn't perform but it's not like we are overloaded with talls. I'm guessing Smith or Tommo as the sub in case our only tall in Bbb goes down. But I don't think Tommo has been included in the emergencies.Heaven help us if Bbb goes down. Here's an idea put Tommo in and let Petty play fwd. Oh wait. What a wasted experiment that was. Just when it started to work it got thrown in the bin. Brilliant. Why try it on the first place if after it finally gelled you were going to just shelf it? Goodwin has gone from inflexible to illogical. I think in dropping Smith and ignoring Jvr, we may have lost this one at the selection stage. Oh and yeah, let's put a woefully out of form Anb up fwd to bolster our dysfunctional forward line .

Max is having a rough season. Love the bloke. Great person. Great footballer. But it's hard to maintain that 21 momentum and skill. I think perhaps last year was the real chance. Our fwd line problems started towards the end of it and have continued to this day. Also we have had a plethora of injuries this year compared to the last two. The pies win and start to the round show we can be very competitive but I also think the six interstate games have taken a toll as well. Having said that we outperformed gws in every metric except tackles. I don't know what to make of this team.
-
Only a few weeks ago we beat the number one team on the comp. There is talent here despite our woeful forward line. Of the seven games played interstate including Kardinia, we put away the Eagles who are shocking and just narrowly beat the Suns. We lost the other five. Word to the wise....don't sell anymore home games to play interstate. We play the big G well. Missing Oliver is huge. Max is having a bad season, along with Kozzie and Anb. The Grundy Gawn combo looked awesome pre season bit never launched. The game has passed Melksham. Chandler needs to be dropped like four weeks ago. I thought Goody was stuck in his ways but now he seems erratic with his throwing away the Petty experiment, dropping Tomlinson and then Jvr. This list is in its prime, but something is not right. Fair to say we also don't have very much depth. Like the dogs breaking more than half a decade of drought was a momentous effort. But it seems like now the peak has been conquered the will to continue has withered a fair bit. How does pretty much the same bunch end up like this?. It's not like they are too old.

Petracca’s goalkicking
leave it to deever replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
It's the reason why he isn't played forward more often. He is a very good player and a big part of our recent flag. His goal kicking issue hinders him from simply tearing games up. Has been worse this year. Guess you take the bad with the very good skills with a player like Trac. -
Why because I disagree. I could say the same to you.
-
It doesn't help your goal kicking efficiency when you play at kardinia and AS grounds once a year.
-
I'm rating Oliver as one of our best mods ever.
-
He's a very good player and a Norm Smith medalist but his lack of goal scoring stops him from being a great of the game. It's always been an issue for him unfortunately. Seems to rush sometimes.
-
Our goal kicking coach should be on commission only if not shown the door. Clearly he's not helping.
-
He did with Petty and when it finally worked he scrapped it. Strange
-
Don't panic, the Grundy gawn combo will save us.
-
Again.
-
Hard to fathom it was less than only two years ago. Who is this mob? Can we please not play here again at least? Why forfeit a home game and add travel fatigue?
-
Add Kozzie.

I thought after the Pies win we were back but then this. Hmmm. Trac needs to spend Every day with goal practice.
