Cwood better not lose to the bombers.

Is Melksham on thin ice? I mean if he's average, will he come out for Fritta? Or was that always the plan?
-
The least we can do for his 200th is to ruck the whole game. No Grindy.

Yea Na Maybe .Mr winners. Smith needs to go fwd and Grundy needs a spell. Sorry. I reckon this will happen too. Agree on Spargo. Your on the money. JJ. I don't knowlove Pig back on and I guess Bowey is the most likely out for him. I guess Tommo comes in for Smith fwd. Sub. Don't know.

I try to understand everyone's point of view on this site and rarely criticize them. I will ask you if you or someone you love dearly has ever had cancer ? Well done to the Afl and all sports men and women that support this cause. Chers Deebauched.

Are West Coast tanking?
leave it to deever replied to Jumping Jack Clennett's topic in Melbourne Demons
I meant do we perhaps rest a few in the swans game to secure fourth spot? It's unlikely that we finish in second and if it means going a little below par to avoid finishing third and playing our first final interstate. Damn we came so close to cementing second spot if it weren't for the Afl to cheap to stump up for a couple of extra cameras. The pies are not a threat for us as I believe port or lions at their respective home grounds are I would also like to see us have a crack again at Carlton in the finals. The real problem for our team is clearly the lack of a second tall up fwd. Jvr is good but he's no superstar yet. I believe he will be. Ok m trying to be positive but it means we have one (ok to good tall) and nobody else. Petty schache, Bbb and Tmac or Grundy are not going to get it done. That's an unbelievable five choices . No other clubs has it's five key feds out. Maybe Fritta comes back and miraculously hits some good form in time. Does he playnext to Melksham who seems to be struggling again? Smith needs to play fwd this weekend. Tommo to be back. If we don't win a flag this year it will most likely down to both shortsighted recruiting but mostly just sheer bloody dumb luck. Perhaps our smalls will fire up and get it all done for us but it's a lot to expect. Lat year our fwd line failed to kick many goals in both finals and after all our hard work we went out in straight sets. Something needs to change for as it stands we seem to be in the same predicament. By finals time Oliver will be back in top form so maybe Trac is a permanent fwd fixture. I'm not sure why Goody played Smith mostly as a defender last week. Grundy is not a fwd. Sorry for the rant and being in the wrong thread. I'm sure I'm not alone either this concern though and I think we are probably equal to the top two teams this year but have just week after week been unlucky with our best players going down. The Hawks game is our last chance to rejig our fwd line. For me it's Smith and Jvr. Smith may not be very tall but has a great leap and very athletic. In leau of being a shorter fwd team, let's hope speed prevails. -
This non decision smacks of incompetence or cowardice.

Footyology: Comment on JVR tackle

That umpire isn't fit enough for Auskick. Gearing free kick they didn't pay at a close stage of the game. Incompetence or cowardice. -
Congratulations to a modern giant of the game. A true champion, leader and gentlemen.

I don't know. They probably are. But what about our Swans game. Just quietly, do we go easier if it means avoiding an interstate final? -
I'm giving props to Kozzie who tells the ump when it was touched. When he was the player who kicked it. Bravo.
-
I do not know why but I have a new found disdain for Carlton. Can't wait to see them lose their final.
-
It's the constant flavor of the month that is just strange. Hands in the back paid then not paid. Dob. One week if you step over the line your gone then another week it's ball up. Same with htb. Sometimes the umps blow the whistle on every occasion, then it's play on. Dissent. Toss a coin. Sling tackles the current favorite. The umps have been all over the shop this year and sometimes in just one game.
-
No way Carlton will win a flag. Even if they go in with ten on trot. Finals are a whole new game and boy will the pressure then be on them instead.
-
Carlton played out of their skins. I definitely don't think we played as well as we could. Some great individual efforts but after our smalls and Melksham giving us some hope lately, they were for the most part, mia. And I think we all knew that Grundy wasn't the answer. I don't get why Smith didn't play fwd from the get go . One of our rare markers inside our fifty.
-
Pretty sure this is the way it will go.

And public floggings too. Just kidding. Love the Harry b award.

Sometimes it's the lack of calls that make up the many bad decisions. Our tackling was not rewarded like theirs. Not a dig at you but anyone who says bad umpiring doesn't cost clubs games has absolutely no clue. Umpires are human and often get swayed or intimidated by large parochial crowds.
-
If the umpire believes it was touched than that should be the end of it. None of this I'll just double check. The problem with this is it leaves umps prone to making calls because they know they can go back and check them. And as saw on Saturday, this didn't work because the technology is a joke. Best if the ump doesn't know, he or she could just say so and if the technology doesn't help just assume nothing until proven otherwise. That means it remains a goal until an ump says definitely otherwise or technology proves it was touched. Simple.

Has our form been overstated?

It's also one of the closest seasons I can remember with even bottom teams bringing their best and knocking off faves. -

Oliver to get back to 100% and Fritta back will help. But our fwd line is a big issue compared to theirs . -
They outscored us. And we have one of the best backlines in the league.
-
Hell why not. Petty worked. What other options are there? Tmac or Bbb on one leg or Schacke. It's not Grundy.
-
Fantastic tackling effort.

My hasn't as I did a silly thing and watched the replay. Umpires were so quick to blow the whistle for htb when we were tackled but gave the blues a free pass many a time. I wonder if the crowd noise sucks them in.
