This ‘Premiership era’ wasted inside 50

Disagree. He had a cameo performance on the wing there where he danced around 3 pies players . Was unsighted in the second half. Totally.- 178 replies

My 3 word player analysis V Collingwood
leave it to deever replied to joeboy's topic in Melbourne Demons
Perfect analysis. -
Seen the odd usa flag on occasion. Give me a break.
-
Sounds about right. I'll wager he gets two with some sort of suspended sentence and they'll close the loophole at tge start of next season. It's cfc remember and we can't let them lose.
-
Says it all really. And a player with serious prior concussion issues. Just scum. No wonder people hate them. Shame on the media for defending Maynard. They couldn't stop talking over one another in an effort to clear him. Instead of calling out the Pies woeful chant while a young bloke lies motionless on the ground. I hope the Afl really make an example of the bloke just to stick it up their dog supporters. And I'd like to say it's a small minority but sadly that chant was joined in by more than a few. How utterly bloody callous and wrong. Congrats to Jack who batted for his mate. Personally I would have liked more retaliation, but maybe that's just coming down to their sub level. Get a life you toothless, wife bashing, racist, homophobic, simple minded, arrogant pieces of stone.

Thre finals on the trot lost. Will Goidy come out again and say how much it drives us? I know he's duty bound to front up to the press but gee I wish we would just have the luxury of being quiet. Or have someone else speak for him. To say how ready and prepared we are and play half a game is embarrassing. Imagine if we weren't. Wish was clearly the case.
-
Yeah, watched a pies supporter just screaming at demons supporters around him at the end of the game. Continually screaming f off C**TS. Really aggressive. The cops nearby just rolled their eyes. Such humility and grace in victory. Club culture And racist.
-
I'm sorry for your experience. I don't to get to many games since moving interstate but a close mate of mine I his 50s has been going all his life. He reckons there has been a marked change in the behaviour of crowds , in particular tigers and pies games. He has been verbally abused, threatened and twice pushed over the last few years. He reckons there are some games he's genuinely afraid to go to especially the ones just mentioned. There's a reason they are called the filth. More than a few of their supporters have an element of dirty minds and agro.

I don't think Tommo will ever get a game. He was fantastic in KB but it didn't help him. Bowey was great. My issue with Lever was his lack of marking and no effort in tackling. He also butchered it in the first q and got in May's way more than once.
-
Why does Lever get votes? He butchered it in the first quarter. Never tackled and managed only 3 narky with 11 touches. Got in Mays way a couple of times too. Also Sparrow was horrible the first half.
-
Great post but by back 6 I hope you don't include Lever and Salem.
-
I don't think we can know his intention. But even with the benefit of doubt no suspension gives a clear loophole to allow players to do what the Afl has seemed to vehemently stop this year. It's pretty straightforward and the only real way to protect players from serious damage . I guess will find out. Or will it let him off because it's the cfc in finals and then say we got it wrong when it becomes open season with the smother and knock-out .
-
It's a "good" point. I think I'd rather a hard yelling hyped up on the edge coach at times who yells at players and pumps them up. Maybe he does behind closed doors. But your right the motivation needs to come from the players . And if seeing your mate carried off like that doesn't get your blood pumping then nothing will. I'd like to think maybe it distracted them but our slow starts have been there all year.
-
A rookie from Benalla 2nds would give us more than Schache and Tmac. But in all seriousness did we leave every stone unturned? I think we just thought oh wait let's get another ruck. Good clubs go out of their way to get the players they need. And they make ruthless choices with tge ones tvey dont. How long did we persist with Weid when all signs said otherwise. He had 5 seasons I think. I'm just saying that the problems with Tmac surfaced two years ago. We seemed to go out of our way for mids and smalls for a time and neglect kpps.
-
Is he doing his job? This has been a problem all year so someone is not doing their job. I'll retract my statement and simply say whoever is responsible isn't doing their job well. Sadly you can't argue with the facts. I wish it were not so but last night was the penultimate eg of this. Not just the behinds or lack of distance but the many out of bounds on the full. Perhaps find someone else to address this because nobody can say it's not an issue.
-
I wish Goody would just come out and say the truth for once. We were bloody terrible for half a game and disgusting in our goal kicking. Maynard is a dog. The problem with our learnings is that they never really happen. We have been slow starters and poor shots at goal all season. Just say it mate and then maybe we can go about fixing it. Acknowledging it is the first step. You might even learn something. And point out that it seems we are the new Western bulldogs now. And put your hand up for some very very poor selection which is your fault alone and that you need help in this area. It's not like the Pies are a better team. They beat us because they were more focussed and didn't choke like us. At least for the first half. And as head coach, I must accept I have failed in my efforts to address our poor shots at goal. It has been an issue all year that I haven't remotely fixed. Also I have not recruited well. Instead of getting a couple of fwds I thought I'd choose a ruckman who has never been able to mark and throw him at our problematic fwd line. If I sound angry it's because we should have won last night. Cfc are not a better team. We lost and lost in the manner that has been similar with so many games. It's almost as if yea we got the flag in 21. That will do. I hope Gus is OK. If Maynard gets off then it's open season on smothering the ball and cleaning up opponents at the same time. Simple.
-
How many games this year have we fought really hard to come back and win? Why do we not play like this all day? What is going on with a team tgat can't start well? Is it a concentration or motivation issue. It's been a pattern all year and while I appreciate the never say die attitude we would do so much better if we could just simply play 4 quarters for a change. Especially our midfield. Also the person responsible for goal kicking skills is a complete spud and not doing their job.
-
Was it really a fight back or a case of us not fronting up for half a game of footy. Not like it hasn't happened before.
-
I'm angry too. And I really dont think it's without reason. We are perennial slow starters. Why? The club has made some poor choices with not recruiting young fwds. I mean big fwds. Grundy can't mark but yet some genius thought he would be a forward option. Selection. Laurie as a sub? With. I mean hey Goody he's a kid with no experience. And guess what tge sub sometimes has to play a whole game by the way. Tmac. Great servant who had tge opportunity to give his all with nothing to lose and go out on a high note. Nup. Just the opposite. Poor kicking at goal. A problem all season that we just ignore. Midfield that apply themselves are the game is lost. Langdon, Lever, Salo and Hunter . Senior players who young Bowey showed them how to play. Players like Chandler being gifted games. Our constant talking ourselves up in the media. Seen this movie before.

I don't care if we lose. Tmac has no business playing. There I've said it. Jvr will get a week but that's no biggy. He will be a very good player in 2 years. Why we haven't tried Thommo fwd I don't understand. We have trialled two other defenders. Any one than Tmac. I think we all groaned for this reason when Milk went down. We have carried McDonald for two years and I do mean carried. He cannot run or mark. We have Fritra who has missed half a season and then Kozzie who has been average for half a season. The club has been caught napping over its inertia towards fixing our fwd line. We saw Bbb and Tmac imploding a long time ago. We knew Milk was on tge cusp of retirement. We ignored the fact that Jvr was just beginning. But in our arrogance we thought we had enough players even if we did have to butcher our backline. Than some Einstein said let's fix it with a nother ruckman who can play fwd. Despite the fact the bloke cannot take a mark. Also was the idea behind Schscke. Was he ever any good as a fwd anywhere?

Stuff drafting a kid, poach a key forward.

Should have been done a year ago. Tmac and bbb .. the writing was on the wall. Delist them both. Get rid of Grundy. Should give us some cash. We have probably paid too much for Kozzie who has disappeared since he resigned. Bedford was probably a better fit than Chandler. -

What's missing was some decent forward craft where there was nobody leading most of the time and all our fwds standing next to each other. And also for the first hour of the game I didn't see much bursting forward. I saw our mids 20 m away from the ball most of the time. For 2 quarters our midfield was totally pantsed. They were horrible. And then at half time they decided to start to apply themselves Apart from Viney its been a pattern for a while now. Strange.- 178 replies

Our two talls in Tmac and Jvr cannot seem to stand and take a pack mark. Jvr is still developing and finals is a new experience. Tmac needs to retire. There was no room for our crumbers or for Fritta to lead. Pies had a plethora of players back inside our fifty all night. Our slow movement allowed them to do this. They on the other hand took the pill into their fwd 50 at break neck speed. It was embarrassing. What the hell is it with our slow starts? Why does Trac always require an hour before he can get going? Our mids were all asleep in the first half. It's not like it hasn't happened before. I would have thought the Gus ko would have snapped them out of it. Probably Vineys most quiet game of the year. Sadly despite our poor performance our non existing fwd line let us down again. That and a man down. Plus poor kicking at goal is somthing that has plagued us all year but we don't fix it. Also Chandler hasn't played well for eons. Shouldn't have been playing. I also don't know what has happened to Salo but he's looked lost for the last 7 games. Lever pumping players up when he should have just worried about his own game. I don't think he laid a single tackle. It's a long road back with Carlton and then an interstate final and I can't see anything changing with our lack of decent forwards. Apologies to Fritta who has had only two games in three months. I think this is another year wasted with this list but I'm thinking the list isn't as great as I thought. Langdon has vanished this year. Hunter was a non game. Kozzie is way too inconsistent. Salo is a shadow of his old self. Smith is a sub. Chandler is no Bedford. Laurie should never have been the sub. That's all on you Goody. Stupid choice of a kid with 5 games. Tmac enough said. Sparrow can play elsewhere. Jvr is good but he's still a rookie. Lever has been very average. We lost last year because our fwd line collapsed and the club didn't do any recruiting to change things. Also do we need to bring in a motivational speaker ten mins before each game. The difference bw the state of mind and intent from the Pies was huge. Although if seeing Gus knocked out doesn't inspire you then I don't know what would. Credit to Max and May and Bowey for a 4 quarter effort. Trac and Oliver were great the second half but I would much rather them both be good for a whole game than a cameo later on when the deficit is too big. It seems to be a pattern now especially with Trac. He could have been a contender for Browlow this year but has dropped off remarkably in the last 5 games. It's clearly a concentration issue for him. This club reminds me of Footscray and I can't see us winning another flag for a long time. Seems like one was more than enough for half of them. I know we only just loss but that's what makes it so bad. Why do we only play for a half? And why are some players consistently poor? That is a poor reflection on the more than a few for sure. Also I wish we would just shut up shop as a club at times. I've seen us so many times talking things up in the media how we are ready, we have changed. Evolved and LEARNT. That we are ready for this and that. From both players and coach. Tge media love it and we do it every single time. Maybe we even believe our own bs. Can't we just have a media strike for a couple of bloody days and do the talking with the ball. We can't, because we haven't changed.- 178 replies

Maynard must get at least four weeks
leave it to deever replied to leave it to deever's topic in Melbourne Demons
That was the precedent I was thinking off. Baily played on. Four weeks is appropriate.
