An open letter to Christian Petracca
Maybe next year replied to Swooper Northey's topic in Melbourne Demons
I was about to do the same. Perfectly written but I would also add the following: if you are upset with the management, they are about 12 people. There are 60K members who love you and if you go to a “bigger club” they could not love you as we do. In fact, a few bad games and they will turn on you and criticise you. The love members have for you is unconditional. Better to have 60K supporters who love you than 100K members who like you until you have a bad game. If you are unhappy with the leadership and direction, you have the ability to change it. -

Agree. Melksham is apparently the forward line leader so he was always going to be given more time. AVB may be given the license to kill mad if he can regain his form of years ago can be a bold selection. Personally though I would have dropped him and brought in ANB. Overall I’m happy with changes

Demonland Podcast LIVE Tonight 7/7 @ 8:30pm
Maybe next year replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Agree. His first quarter against Carlton this year set us alight. He drilled passes into the chest of several players. Unfortunately like many others went missing for much of the game. Worthy of a game more than Hunt and Melksham and dare I say Kossie. I think Kossie will be good but atm he is too flashy and I saw some selfish acts on the weekend. -
We’re talking about 8 players for 6 weeks. I don’t think that will impact the club financially as much as losing members for crappy performances. One would hope a happy list would perform better regardless of the coaching. For the record, long term injured players I agree should not go.
-
They should never have been left behind in my opinion. Another poor decision by the club. Creates a divide, now can’t properly train and shows no concern for those players. They should have been given a choice.

Apologies if this has been discussed elsewhere but the media has highlighted a new tactic used against Melbourne; hiding. Seeing Jack Higgins hide behind lever and Max Gawn kick to a nearby player upset me in two ways. (1) Max laughing after kicking it in a way Higgins could steal the mark. Any mistake should not be worthy of a laugh or smile. I’ve seen players pound the ground with their fist after making a mistake. Don’t smile, apologise or act upset even if you’re not. (2) How can a player be so stationary that another player can hide behind him? Why wasn’t Lever moving to give an option. These are 2 senior players and leaders of our club. This was my worry about Gawn as captain. Gives the impression he doesn’t care enough on the ground. We have no leadership and have had none for years. It is no coincidence our best football was when we brought in senior players to lead on the ground (Cross, Lewis, Vince). Where is our leadership development. Maybe Jim Plunkett should spend less time on zoom calls and more about developing leaders in our young players. Time to start training Sparrow, Rivers, Jordan on becoming effective leaders. sorry for tirade. Still really upset.

Our record the last 27 games (Operation Get Ross Lyon)
Maybe next year replied to Pickett2Jackson's topic in Melbourne Demons
We would not be able to afford either. I am not in the each Goodwin camp either although I am approaching it. I am hoping to see a coming of age like we saw with Hardwick at Richmond. If we were to put money into any other coach, I’d go Chris Fagan. He’s done wonders at Brisbane. He may want to return to Melbourne. -
Jamie Bennell is no longer at the club. Harley may be good but there is only 1. I think it’s Melksham you want. Similar team to mine. I’ve kept Rivers I’m to give him one more week.
-
I think we will be playing on smaller grounds so quicks not as important. We need talks in forward line. Jones to be given games to get to his milestone and for him to play forward. He’s a good kick and reads ball well. Ins Jetta, Bennell, Weiderman Jones outs Hunt, AVB, Lockhart, Smith last chance: Pickett, Melksham B: Jetta May Rivers HB: Salem Lever Hibberd C. Langdon. Harmes Tomlinson HF: Petracca. Weiderman. Bennell F: Pickett. T Mac. Fritsch Foll: Gawn Oliver Brayshaw int: melksham Viney. Hannan. Jones

Replace Jordan and ANB with Bedford and Dunkley and I think you have it right. If one of the players in Viney, Jones or Jetta don’t go for family reasons then Jordan and C Wagner are next in line. I personally think the whole group minus injured players should have gone up to at least have the team morale improved a little and avoid a divide within the club. Even on Survivor no one likes to be left behind in the reward challenge. I note most other clubs are taking their whole group.

Casey goals - all tied at the 20 min mark. JKH just did some nice things since my last post but I don’t change my mind -

For anyone upset that JKH is not playing tomorrow you just need to see him at Casey. I’m really disappointed in his game. He’s pulled out of a number of contests and gives up on the chase too quickly. Combine his skills with Monroe’s endeavour and we would have a good player. -

The Cats with the first in less than 2 mins. Casey could not hold tackles and the Geelong player runs into an easy goal -

3Qtr time casey: 4.7.31 geelong: 3.10.28 lucky to still be in it but Geelong will have a 2-3 goal breeze coming home. Hutchins and Monroe playing good games. Smith and Spargo our next best. Spargo’s Silly mistakes downplays his game. Hardly saw JKH that quarter and it’s been a really poor game from Maynard today (I’m disappointed). JJ had a better quarter that one.
