He nominated for the ND?!
You know what this means - he doesn't want to play for us.
Ah no,
I would say he's trying to do the best thing for himself and his career and giving himself the opportunity to be picked up by any of the 15 clubs.
-
Slider? A very strange concept.
I think you mean which player has been over-rated and over-hyped by ill-informed amateur punters.
spot on.
-
only highlights ..video footage etc.
have you ?
About five times.

In the All Australia U18...Described at draft camp as the new Leigh Matthews..Fairly decent wrap...
If you haven't watched him play you are missing a lot..
Very very well built for his age..tough..strong..good overhead...very long kick...good goal sense..
We need players that have some balk...we can't have 20 skinny kids running around..he already has a made body..and can play straight away..
I would pick him up at 11 if he was still there...I think he will get snapped up by Port..
He's a leader as well - another important trait.
The role of attacking Half Forwards is becoming even more important to teams game plans, Chapman, SJ, LeCras and Porps all had stellar years. The latter two kicking 110 goals between them.

1 Tom Scully
2 Jack Trengove
11 Luke Tapscott
18 Aaron Black
34 Alex Carey
50 Mitch Thorp
PSD - Joel Mcdonald

For the record Bob..I said this then..in response to the Daw criticism. I stated it quite early... you might call it back tracking..I call it clarifying...as obviously not every one can read !! <_<
Apparently you cant either.. He wont be there at 50..if that happens all well and good
edit to bold !
Have you seen Daw play?
-
I couldn't decide between Tapscott or Vardy for pick 11..
Went with Tappy when musing on another thread, thinking that Vardy would still be available at 34. (Daw- Pick 18)
Sounds like:
'Tall' -pick 11 (Vardy?)
'Best available - 18 (Tapscott? / Daw?)
'ditto' - 34 (Daw? / The other Jurrah? / Grimes??)
You are just writing nonsense!!

Pickering is his manager who is a massive Melbourne hater. I think if Thorp had another option he would take it. I'm clearly only guessing but I would say we are his only option.
Melbourne hater?
On SEN yesterday he said he thought Luke Ball would be a good fit for Melbourne and the Dee's will be playing finals in two years.
What a hater ay?
-
I heard this on SEN also.
-
Mark Stevens would have followed the draft for about a month. In that time he has read bigfooty phantom drafts and picked a bit from here and there.
No weight.
-
Personally I think youtube highlight clips dont offer much.
The day I see more clips involving players' dropped marks, poor kicking and missed tackles is the day i'll take more notice.

What about Judd though?? And Josh Carr? And Lachie Henderson wanted to come home? And now Bradshaw?
Joel McDonald? Jamar was busting a gut to leave but we didn't get a trade done...
...Ben Cousins? All that drug stuff was a ruse
Judd - I'll pay that.
Bradshaw - Played in Brisbane for 13 years FCS.
Henderson - Would have happily stayed in Brisbane if not for Fevola.
Jamar - Still on Melbourne's list.
Mcdonald - Wasn't he delisted?
Carr - Who Cares.
-
He's certainly in the "Scully" bracket. He's a proven performer as a 16yr old in the WAFL against grown men. I'd content that he would have been a certainty to be a top 5 pick in this year draft if eligible.
Agreed.
Not only was he playing against men but he was averaging 20 + possessions and looked very comfortable.
-
I always thought they were brothers, but it would seem that you're right. Brothers born 6 months apart would be... interesting
Keep an eye out for Johnny's brother Harley who was ineligible for the draft this year. This guy is one exciting footballer.
-
Too hard to pick up Chicks in Melbourne because Melbournian women know they are not stars.
In WA they might be able to get away with throwing the "AFL star" tag around.
Kidding, PJ is a decent bloke and I am sure both lads are knee deep in groupie <insert inoffensive word describing local trollop here>
They dont call him Juice for nuthin!!

This go-home [censored] has been brought you up way too much of late.
Bryce Gibbs
Matthew Pavlich
Sam Fisher
Mark Jamar
Jarred Rivers
Corey Enright
Alan Didak
Andrew Mackie and so on....

Not scoring in invite to the main camp is also a pretty good indication. I'm not saying they're crap, just that they're an outside chance and not worth wasting a top 40 pick on.
This is a stupid un-educated statement.
Many footballers have not attended draft camp and turned out to be very good AFL players. Some picked inside the top 40 others not.
Please don’t apply for a job as a recruiter for Melbourne.
-
Burgo is dreaming if he thinks Alex Carey will still be available at pick 40.
-
and Johnny Bennell!..get some brothers together!
They're not brothers.
-
Is that you Troy McClure ??
Why would Troy McClure sound like a lawyer?
-
Back in the real world, it can't have been easy to break into the geelong midfield.
Especially when you cant kick to save yourself.
-
Good idea starting this thread, I did see your previous post in another thread, it can get lost in amongst all the others. Burgo's comments are good to file for reference leading up to the draft. If Lucas gets to pick 11, you won't be the only one that is happy.
Burgo's draft range selections are all over the shop.
It will be interesting to see how close he gets with his Phantom draft.

im not fussed by either of these cuts. Buckley and Valenti have shown promise, but this comes as no surprise.
reasons why
Our midfield is getting bigger, considering that Blease Strauss
To me Strauss is not a midfielder he is an attacking half back.
-
That looks pretty good to me. We won't need to worry about talls when Newton fires up this year.
This was the point that I stopped reading your opinions on player talent.
Tall option likely(possible) with 3rd pick
in Melbourne Demons

He showed great improvement through the course of the year which is a very good sign given he was so raw at the start of the season. It was Daw against 22 as he single handedly keep the Jets in the game in the first half against the Rangers in the final round of the H&A season. He displayed strong lead marking, accurate set shot goal kicking and a real thirst for chasing down opponents.
He is however a real 'project' type player and although the draft may be weakened by the GC concessions I still think he fits into a 'Rookie' selection category given the risk.
