  1. I'm happy with our coach. He is doing exactly what this club needs.

This was the bit the leapt out at me while reading...

"My responsibility is to look long term for the Melbourne footy club. If that means what I do now sets it up for the future, then I'll do that.

"It would be ridiculous for me to look for some quick fixes."

If you're pushing into your late 20s and underperforming at Melbourne, you have every reason to be worried.

Out at year's end would have to be:

Neitz, Yze, Holland, Carrol, Whelan 100% gone.

White, McDonald 90% gone though might tough it out for one last season.

We are at a serious rebuilding stage. At least we have 3-4 years of decent drafting behind us, so hopefully we can start our climb back up in 2010.

Jeez the drafting this year (2008) and next (2009) (before the new team comes in 2010) are going to define how we perform over the next 10 yrs.

    GET IT RIGHT!

    Spot on.

  2. Holland couldn't provide leadership in the game "Follow the Leader!"

Yes he is still on the list. Unfortunately. De-list he is a list clogger.

Your a forum clogger......you're posting too much and its boring me.

Over the last three seasons Dutchy has played more good games than bad. The problem is when he plays poorly he plays really poorly.

He is certainly injured because he was fantastic against Hawthorn and would have surely been given a game the following week.

Its great to blood youngsters but with Robbo and Neitz gone, an experience presence is needed in order to help the youngsters grow.

  3. If you want first draft pick, you have to play players like Bode, knowing that it will improve him, but knowing that his selection will effect our effectiveness during games, therefore leading to turnovers, therefore missing out on the 4 points.

I wish you were coach.

  4. once again you are mostly on the ball

however, i disagree with white...i think he has lost it

aussie made the most of his oppurtunities

    bate...best game of his career

White floats in and out of the game like no one else on the list.

He had one possession in the second half. He is a master of hiding.

  5. You don't need to use a top 2 pick to get a clearance winner.

But try picking up a star key forward outside the top 10. I don't think you'll find many.

    Star key forwards-

    Brown - Father son

    Riewoldt - 1

    Pavlich - 3

    Franklin - 5

    Hall - 12

    Fevola - 30s

    Richardson - Father son

    Lloyd - Compensation

    Lucas - 5

Given this, only Fevola was outside the top 12 in the draft. And only 2 out of 9 were outside the top 5!!

It just shows that if you want a star key forward then you have to pony up early when you have the chance.

    Pav was pick 4.

  6. Milne was also dropped, cough tanking, this from a team that wasted a draft pick on fraser gehrigs second coming, which is like tony locketts second coming

    Tanking?

To get pick 4 instead of 6? I think not

Blooding a few youngsters while sending a messege to the so called leaders of the club is a good and appropriate direction for the Saints to take.

  7. Prismal would have been great, but now he has a spot on the geelong team and got 32 possies last year. he would cost WAY too much to trade for.

Targeted players should be those NOT getting opportunities at other clubs.

If we could convince Mitch Thorp that he will never get into the Hawks line up (Buddylove, Roughead, Boyle, Dowler, Williams etc), then that would be the smartest thing the demons have done in the last 20 years. He is a future superstar, pick 1 PSD would be lovely.

Dowler is the one that Pelchan is hoping to get a trade for at seasons end. The Hawks rate Thorp very highly and will not let him go.

  8. I dont rate him at all.

Slow as molasses, doesnt kick goals. Cant get off the ground so will never be a good aerialist.

The Cats even dropped him for Tom Lonergan.

    You Imbecile.

He has played 10 AFL in the best side in the competition in a key position.

He is a 19 years old learning the game.

Id rather him then Colin Sylvia any day.

  9. I know the Prismall's (work with his mother) and he is desperate to get more game time. He asked Cats to trade him last year and they said no as he was under contract.

But he is out of contract this year and will probably look to leave as he just can't crack it into their side. Collingwood have shown a bit of interest but I just cant see what they have to offer Geelong in a trade so Pris could end up in the PSD.

His brother is also playing down at Weribee as he didn't get drafted last year. Is bigger than Brent and plays KP. Apparently has more ability than Brent.

Ive been watching Brent closely for the last few years. It’s no wonder he was looking to be traded as he would have walked into most other sides midfields.

I was extremely surprised that his brother wasn't at least rookie listed as he played quite well in the under 18 champs and was talked about a fair bit.

  10. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Garland and Petterd, not to mention Grimes, Frawley, Maric, Cheney, Zomer, Morton et al were recruited by CC in the last few years?

Way too early to make the call on CC's recruiting abilities.

    There's definitely a future.

I dont understand players being rated when they haven't played an AFL game.

How does Grimes show potential when he hasn't even played a game of seniors footy on any level.

Grimes has shown leadership as a junior and has had real injury problems this year but until a player plays AFL football its all hype.

  11. Yze_Magic........................Sylvia .......Come on.

Your crack pipe must be well used. The bloke is a pathetic waste of a spot on our senior list. No-one will want him. Ego too big, performances too low. If he was a horse I would have put a bullet between his eyes a long time ago. Sad thing is I reckon the dogs wouldn't even eat his carcass.

I guarantee a few coaches will think they can turn him into a good footballer.

At what price remains to be seen. A third round is my prediction.
