  1. Specifically, that ASADA were about to descend. On "a" club. Who knows which club? I'm not saying that it's YOUR club, David. Of course, if it were -- hypothetically speaking of course!! -- I'm confident that they would find absolutely nothing. By the way, are your shredders in good working order? I'm just asking to make conversation.
  2. He's trying to prove Demetriou guilty, of setting up EFC and victimising the golden child Tird. What the fool doesn't understand is that Demetriou is guilty of protecting EFC and minimising the damage. Demetrious is a heavyweight in more ways than one, and I'm sure his cross examination will reveal a lot more, and damage EFC more, than this fool would want. Already the defence lawyers are calling it "Operation Backfire"
  3. Gee ... I wonder if "Melbourne lawyer" Jackson Taylor is actually a duffle coat wearing, mouth breathing nuffie and diehard Essadon supporter.
  4. He's said to be a hard man .... hard as nails .... for days at a time...
  5. I absolutely get that. From my occasional forays into Church City, a short 5 minutes of listening to 5AA is enough to harden one against those two clubs forever. (well .... for a while anyway.) I can't imagine what a steady diet would do to one's mind. Something like this, probably: However, we must look at the big picture. Provincial difficulties must be risen above and the long range, objective view be held. And that is, clearly, that a certain few clubs must never be given an inch. Must always be held in contempt if not with outright hatred. In no particular order: Carlton, Essendon, Collingwood, for reasons that are too obvious to need writing here. Hawthorn, Geelong, Sydney also deserve no quarter. Adelaide, Port Adelaide, as already discussed. Richmond, for being Richmond. St K, Footscray. For being contemptible losers, and Footscray even more for winning in '16 and breaking that stereotype. F***** losers. North, same reason, but without the winning part. GCS and GWS. "Vlad's folly". One for not winning enough and one for winning too much. Freo for being anonymous and taking up space. WCE and Brisbane, for beating us in the past. The f****** b******s. That's all I can think of for now. But no true supporter of Aussie Rules can go too far wrong following the above chart of who to hate. How much hate, you ask, and how to apportion? As a rule of thumb, or when in doubt, remember this: too much is not enough. GO DEMONS
  6. Well, it's out of their hands. Freo called up and asked very politely if Tirdy could come and play with them. And the AFL looked up his record and discovered that after recklessly dumping the AFL into its biggest scandal in 100 years, he did some coaching for a prominent footy club, AND last year he presented the Norm Smith medal! Fully rehabilitated! Back to normal! It would be wrong for the AFL to continue to victimise Tird given that some other organisation saw fit to grant him those second and third chances.
  7. Poor old Joel, down to his last $40 million! It's uncanny how companies with phantom clients and phantom income end up getting into strife.
  8. Mazer Rackham replied to Demonland's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
The kid did look good. But we're not going to have Majak Daw playing in key defence every week. That opened up a lot of opportunities that a better team wouldn't have allowed. Having said that ... good on you Bayley, and GO DEMONS
  9. EFC: welcome to Essendon, Jake. We do things a little differently here. Get these ... er ... "dietary supplements" into you. Jake: duh .... supper? suppel ... duh ... what for I eat dial supper? EFC: don't worry about the details, mate. It'll put hair on your chest. Jake: duh ... okay NEXT: (two weeks later) EFC: Jake, did you eat those dr-- ... those supplements? Jake: .... yeah!!! Jake eat good ... kind of ... nearly ... EFC: hmmm .... maybe we'd better go back to the injections.
  10. What, Hird botched water allocation in the Murray Darling basin too?!? There is no end to his wilfulness and degeneracy.
  11. I believe this has been tried before. Not exactly a stock exchange but similar ... more like an auction block. A prominent nation fought a war over it and ever since, the practice has been frowned upon. (Even though it still persists in pockets around the globe.)
  12. Hutchy doesn't do PC. He does vendettas. Also collecting trophies. He got Whately and Daisy as trophies to put on his media mantelpiece for everyone to admire. Entirely possible as for some weird reason, Dwayne seems to be highly regarded within the industry.
  13. WTF? Was Jack Watts even alive then?
  14. Graham and the Colonel. "I call him Mr Easter."
  15. Unfortunately Radio School as a prerequisite for radio announcing went out just as DVD players, Blackberry phones, disposable cameras and other primitive devices once used by ancient civilisations were coming in. Now any numbnut can spout off any way they like. Adam Cooney the latest egregious example of someone who can barely be understood, but ... he's talking about AFL, can that be wrong??? PS surely you remember Hillier from 3XY days?
  16. Standard prices are $200 - $500 for the tickets and $150 to $300 for the psychiatrist afterwards
  17. I went to an ice hockey game. Fair dinkum, the yanks would watch tiddlywinks if it was in a huge stadium with flashing lights, ear splitting music, popcorn, kiss cam, remote control blimps, G-rated strippers cheerleaders, and various other mind numbing distractions for tiny minds. I'm surprised they were able to concentrate for 11 entire minutes. No wonder they hate cricket.
  18. so far it's hard to tell if these sackings are all part of a master plan or just dear leader going through a stalinist purge of everyone he doesn't like it could be that he has pretensions to up market acceptability (in the sports arena????), and any presenter with a whiff of bogan, meathead or numbskull about them, or someone who might not pass muster in camberwell village, is being shown the door. why then would hillier go? why would maher stay? why would those two knuckleheads in the morning stay? they're sacrificing a lot of SPORTS knowledge for .... what exactly? the mellifluous tones of mr "i have unshakeable principles unless slobbo is around to shout me down" whately? ultimately it's all about ratings and ad revenue, so time will tell. but so far this brave new SEN seems to be all over the shop.
  19. You're on the right track, Ron. If you keep up the good work, you'll be loathing 17 clubs like the rest of us.
  20. Lord knows I don't really want to immerse myself in this kind of discussion but I can't let this bit pass... CNN & MSNBC are not so much biased or slanted in their coverage as stupid and unaware. They prefer bright shiny objects over actual reporting. NYT cheerleaders? They have been running a vendetta against Clintons of all flavours for decades. WaPo is the closest thing to fair and balanced of the lot of them. "Equal shoutout"? This is known as "false equivalence". Two wrongs don't make a right. Don't excuse Fox for their execrable and antisocial coverage.
  21. That's because Port have told him he's got to be more like Joe Daniher. Fast learner, our their Jack.
  22. SEN have been low rent for much of their existence. They didn't start out that way. Started out with big names ā€“ Lyon, Brereton, Brownless, and big salaries. But quickly found out that while companies may fall over themselves to sponsor Collingwood and Essendon, they don't fall over themselves to sponsor a radio station that talks about Collingwood and Essendon. They ended up with a moth eaten collection of almost literally low rent advertisers. Jacques from Xenium Mortgages, anyone? In no time at all, Brereton left because they couldnā€™t pay the bills. When Pacific Star bought in, there was an uptick in the quality of the advertisers but not an equivalent growth in audience. They have been hovering at 2s and 3s for a long time. They recently tried it again. The ā€œbig starsā€. Morning "dream team" with no chemistry. Garry promptly set up Hollywood Boulevard again and poor old Hamish "brother of" was let known, even on air, that he was not part of the boulevard. He was an onlooker. He was right to leave. And still ratings flatlined. The "big names" talking about the same stuff as the no-names doesn't draw extra listeners, because the die-hards are all listening anyway. Now Whately ... the big fish ... this is Francis Leach all over again. The "inna-lekshul" "egg head" "big words" toff. Doesn't fit the demographic of tradies and bogans. It looks like they may be trying to change the demographic but realistically ... how much more can they eke out of the broader radio audience who mostly want old songs, daft DJs, and talkback lashing one political party or the other? By the way, it's clear that Whately left the ABC in such a hurry because Hutchison said, I'm offering $$$$ but you need to make your decision today! The offer's only open until close of business. If you can't commit, we're not interested! And yet Hutchison obviously was very keen on getting Whately. Hutchison is much more experienced in the wicked ways of the commercial world than Gerard who is a babe in the woods. There may be some room for growth as SEN have increasingly gone all out on AFL. Bugger-all soccer, hardly any cricket ... recently when Chuck Berry was hosting, he said one day "there you go ā€¦ we were supposed to be talking about cricket but somehow ended up talking about St Kilda." They struggle to go for 5 minutes without coming back to AFL. Whately looks like their gamble to pick up some disaffected fans of general sports. Canā€™t see it working. Their bigger strategy might be that they want to get into live commentary of cricket, soccer, tennis, Olympics to add to AFL and basketball. With sports increasingly going the other way, into pay TV, free to air coverage for the die hards on SEN could look attractive! People like Maher and Fine, for all their flaws, represent good value for SEN as they surely can't cost much but actually know how to keep the show moving. Guys like Lyon need a chaperone/MC like Hamish or Huddo. Harford was a good performer and they let him slip. Dunno why they dumped Ox. Itā€™s taken years but he has grown into a polished radio man. Whereas ā€œMarkoā€ remained one dimensional, and thatā€™s putting it kindly. KB & Doc ā€¦ KB is an inveterate stirrer and cannot resist an opportunity to do so. With solely him in the driverā€™s seat, it's somewhat amusing to see how many people he gets to bite. He is SEN's best performer and actually knows something about sport other than AFL, specifically, athletics. (Also horse racing, on the generous assumption that that counts as a sport.) Doc generally makes for good radio and good entertainment. KB & Doc for 3 hours ... No. Their Tuesday morning one hour love-in consisted of KB trying to bait Doc, and Doc slapping him down, rinse and repeat. 3 hours daily? No thanks.
  23. If you drink enough, you'll find that he does!
  24. Three pages now. OP will be pleased. It's hard to eke out the responses in the off season but JW is a faithful topic guaranteed to draw us in regardless of time place and circumstance.
  25. What is this, pre-season training for MFCSS? A bit of practice self-flagellation so you're primed and ready to go in round 1 if he kicks a bag?
