Yeah, it just shows you that even if someone pronounces their own name a certain way, it doesn't mean it's correct. For example Karl Stefanovic is pronounced Stefarnovich
Isn't that funny! I pronounce it as something starting with A & ending with E, that wouldn't make it past the automatic censor filter!

I always thought it was Y-zeeee 😁
Only if you're American. Then again, I'm surprised his team nickname wasn't Why-zeddy.

Of course they'll stuff up his name. Commentators put no effort in learning the correct pronunciation.
Scott Campo-relly
O-ray-zee-o Fan-tay-sha
They only got Oo-zay right because their tiny minds locked up when they saw Y and Z next to each other, and so they fell back on copying the crowd going OOZE.

Best I can do at short notice.

As have I. Twice. On both occasions I wasn’t informed I had amassed the maximum demerit points, only to find out when pulled over.
I am sorry to break this to you, but as a result, you will not be permitted to play full back for the Demons this weekend.

i just cranked up my computer and did some serious and in depth calculations on the ladder.
the amazing result is that there is only a 2 game difference between the bottom and top of the ladder
amazing, huh?
I expect to hear David King touting this amazing statistical insight sometime this week.

I used to wonder why GWS was say not established / relocated to Canberra. (which I still think would make sense to me).
The AFL ceded Canberra to rugby years ago, which was a massive strategic mistake and one they're not anxious to repeat. GWS and GC were/are a full frontal attack on RL in particular. The NRL has been infighting and not expanding ever since, until this year. This has bought the AFL years of penetration into youth markets.
37 minutes ago, Wodjathefirst said:But on the other hand if / when a team is established in Tasmania, this would be in conflict with strategy of ‘a game every week’!
Another rearguard action as it has finally sunk in to the brains at headquarters that Tassie grass roots footy is under threat and some shoring up is required otherwise there could be a counter assault from some other sport. In Aussie rules heartland. That does not happen. The AFL does that to other codes!

I have lain awake in bed at night, wondering when my kids will get the chance to see Hawthorn win a wooden spoon. There's only so many times you can tell them, "don't worry, it will happen ..... one day ......" before they start losing faith.
I may have to start leaving games at 3/4 time just to experience the thrill of riding in trams and trains packed with brown and gold despondency.

The existence of GC remains a mystery to me. Absolutely a waste of a club when we have Tassie and NT who are both actual footy loving states
TL;DR answer: it's the war against rugby league and soccer that determines where new clubs spring up.

Yes to this, and to their King brother, and to Sam Day for when May hangs up the boots. Surely their true destiny is to become a recruiting ground for the mighty Demons?

I wonder if the Hawthorn board will hold their nerve with Sam Mitchell if they keep getting pummelled like this.
It's like if MFC had at one point selected Steven Tingay or James McDonald as coach. Very very hard to prise out a favoured son. traumatic even. This could get "delicious".

They have never had that undefinable something that winning teams have, and have never looked like getting it. The thing that separates a talented list from a side that has the winning habit.

Can we death ride Hawthorn too, even though there are no draft picks contingent on it?

Pity about the Nuffy commentators - Cam Mooney and Daisy Thomas - feeding into the confusion.
The only certain thing about this incident is that the commentators do not know what the rule is and have never read the rules.

I wonder what happened. Is it complacency? He rarely seemed to be anywhere near the ball and when he was, was out of position and unable to affect his opponents let alone get his own mitts on it.
This is a player whom every recruitment manager salivated over and who looked like being a combination Goodes & Bontempelli rolled into one.

I posted after Freo got rid of 5 players to fit LJ in, that it could cause anger among the rest of the Freo list and also jealousy at his pay packet.
I wonder if this is happening.
If they start winning, they'll suck it up. Winning cures all ills in a football club. But if they keep losing ...
11 hours ago, gs77 said:It's a shame there wasn't recent history of MFC talls heading to freo for the go-home factor only to struggle with sky-high expectations and cop grief from fans and the press over there.
Imagine the twin-prong forward setup the Giants will be able to boast in '24 or '25. Hogan AND Jackson.

Maybe its the player manager role to raise that rather than Freo.

Take Cameron and his incredible conversion out of last nights game and Geelong really looked bad.
I think their team conversion rate last week flattered them and kept them in the game much longer than warranted. They were 16.1 at one point.

Edit: the censored word is f-l-o-g. Last time I looked it is a legitimate verb...
1 hour ago, grazman said:🤔 time to kick in the AI bots... I assume it's because people use the term in the pejorative sense as a noun rather than as a verb that it's censored.
The censoring filter is based on an American word list. Some good old earthy Aussie pejoratives sail through unmolested. The "F" word in question might have some connotations in American history that we Aussies are oblivious to. Whereas to us it's on the same level as "drongo".
(Now hoping that the "D" word has not somehow made it on to an American censor list!)

Yeah he doesn’t really offer any insights? He just points out the obvious that everyone can see is happening.
"Lotta blokes running around out there. That'd be tiring."
"When a bloke caries on cheering and pumping the air, it's usually because he's kicked a goal. See, there! Like that! And again! Oh hang on, that's a replay."
"Is that a third team out there? In yellow. All these rules changes, can't keep up with them."
"It's dark outside. I reckon it might be night time."

Similar to Clayton Oliver who is at around the 20th best player (with Bontompelli and Cripps at the top).
The game developers used a basketball game as their starting point, so it's natural they would favour players who throw the ball.
