  1. No time for panic - yet! We were truly smashed today by a well drilled unit, right across the ground.

The big plusses - May and Lever , with glimpses from Langdon, Nibbler, Fritsch and Jackson, Harmes looked much better mid field, but overall pantsed by the Bont et al.

The concerns - kids did not show much - but doesn’t help chasing tail all day. Turnover skills again an issue.

The big question marks - Vanders (what does he actually do?), Tommy Mac - his chase down in the last quarter was great, but where were the other clunking marks?

A big 10 days in front of the whole club. Like a previous poster, concerned that Benny Brown mentioned the “learnings” that would come from a thrashing like this. The induction program is obviously working well.

Time for a real statement come round 1 lads

  2. “You can’t blame the umpires” says Jason over the ludicrous htb decisions that just just keep coming, every passage of play, every quarter, everygame. Umm, OK, so who do we blame? Because whoever it is, they are ruining our great game.

  3. As with the players, the maggots are exposed in hub and frenzy football. Night after night, game after game we same the same clowns making appalling and consistently bad decisions. Tonight Maggot 11 is excelling. But of course he will running around again in a couple of days making the same appalling calls. Unfortunately, it’s not just Maggot 11.

  4. For me, last round 1987 will always be number 1, but this one was an absolute beauty - the ultimate suburban ground experience - getting there, getting in, the game itself and then getting out. Then getting home for the replay and the sublime commentary by Robbo et al. A ripping day at the footy. Gill and his clowns should reflect on this ultimate “match day experience”.

  5. A Neeld like embarrassment - disgraceful. Port players chuckling on the bench. Slow, inept, dumb football. Maggots queueing up to penalise anything in red and blue - and that was just the good parts of a wonderful two hours in front of the telly on a Thursday night. Cannot wait for the time this circus comes around.

  6. Having flicked between the two games last night, I wonder how many of our bash and crashers (Viney, Harmsey et al) will be pinged for holding the ball under Commissioner Clarkson’s new edict. More importantly, I wonder how far into the game it will be until our collective unit realise there has been a change? Maybe just pre-game pessimism, but surely the time has come to find the “connection” that has been missing for so long. Go Dees.

  7. We had a moment the weekend before last when everyone else was playing -  and we weren’t. I simply cannot imagine not having the Dees to look forward to. No matter how misguided, under performing or mismanaged the masses on this forum feel about us. Once we are gone, we will never, ever, be coming back. Worth thinking about.

  8. Rance on Dirty Dave in the 3rd was worse. Head down, front on - by today’s standards would get a long long break. Earl on McKenna was ugly, but there was an element of side on with Earl being “helped” into the contest by his opponent. Nonetheless both Dave and McKenna very lucky lads! Long’s was just a pre-meditated dog of an act. Saw him, lined him up and went through him - classic Sheedy thuggery. I was behind the goals that day and got a pretty uninterrupted view.
