Gill said this today: "Our response is that if there's no avenues to appeal then let's actually look at the incident and see if there's tweaks or modifications or opportunities to change the rules or modify them so that we can do our very best to protect the health and wellbeing of our players on the field."
In other words, next year it will be deemed a 'Footy crime', but you're still okay to attack an oncoming player who has just kicked and knock him senseless.
I f...ing give up!!!!!!! The AFL is total CR.P!
Gil (is and) was [censored] weak today and gave fuel to the posturing debate that Maynard was always going to be let off. He said that he was suspended for 3 weeks and then gave look as to say they’d done their bit. Didn’t even really refute that the prosecution was poor. Just scoffed like he already knew it.
I really hope he is held personally liable in any current or future litigations.- 1

I’m glad he’s now retired. Just like Maynard, got media love for thug acts.

Anyone watching Footy Classified right now?
It’s an absolute MFC pile-on from McGuire, Barrett and Lloyd.
Disgusting and classless.
It’s offensive and a disgrace.
I don’t know what we did to hurt them but [censored] me dead.
And now they have a drug lord criminal on. Yep time to switch off jadedPs. Bartel is way to good for that show.

Anyone watching classified. Lloyd is an absolute [censored]
So insensitive.

Anyone know if the umpires have been hung dried and quartered for allowing play to go on whilst a player was unconscious on the ground?
Lucky Fritta kicked the goal but what if he shanked it like his last shot on goal the ball was ‘live’?
The AFL is inept in all areas.

However frustrated you and I feel, wishing physical harm on a player is not called for.
Reverse the roles an imagine what you would say if other teams wished harm on one of our players.
They did. They cheered and chanted at him whilst being carried off.
I know where you’re coming from but the outcome isn’t just.- 4

Think McKay needs new lucky jocks. The rubber duckies didn’t work.
Seriously though I do hope he is ok and walking off is a positive albeit being aided and a bit wobbly.- 3

If Tom Morris is correct and the AFL’s powerbrokers were involved in sending this to the tribunal, then surely they’ll appeal any tribunal non-decision to ensure Maynard’s suspended for the rest of the season.
He knew exactly what he did and quickly went in to self preservation mode knowing he just [censored] his season. Hopefully the tribunal can see through his antics and the moronic football media to stamp his thuggery out of the game.

Just looking at supercoach / ranking points (I know grain of salt with champion data…) but looks like Rory Laird, Tim Taranto, Andrew Brayshaw and Josh Dunkley are a bit stiff not to make the squad.
Not surprised other Dees were overlooked - true wingers aren’t sexy enough, defenders need midfieldesque stats (or be named Harris), and only forwards with large bags are picked. We have a good spread across all lines.
Then for some of those who did make the squad the stats paint a different picture (one where the selectors must have had their captains pick).
De Goey only played 18 games, ranked 58th for average score. Only had 4 matches over 120 points (my marker for a good midfield game).
Josh Daicos played all 23, ranked 46th for average score and 26th overall. Only 5 matches over 120 points.
Jai Newcombe played 22, 48th rank for average and 39th overall with 2 games over 120.
Dustin Martin played 20, ranked 66th for average score, 94th overall and only 3 matches over 120.
Patrick Cripps played 21, ranked 53rd for average, 60th overall and 3 matches over 120.To contrast the above with Petracca - played 23, avg points 4th, overall points 3rd and 11 matches over 120. Bontempelli - played 23, avg 1st, overall 1st and 15 over 120.
Viney played 22, avg 43rd, overall 33rd and 5 matches over 120.
Dunkley played 21, avg 10th, overall 20th and 8 matches over 120.
Laird played 22, avg 5th, overall 7th and 10 matches over 120.

Way to take the excitement out of the game.

I might get a call up to goal umpire soon. The ones they have are useless (except D Rodan).
